Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

Swing your elbow, get a week. Unless you miss, that's OK
How can they not see how ridiculous the s**t they're spouting sounds?

By their logic, if Gaff missed Brayshaw with that punch in 2018, he shouldn't have been punished. It's ******* ridiculous that the exact same action gets punished differently depending on its effectiveness.

By their logic, if Gaff missed Brayshaw with that punch in 2022, he shouldn't have been punished. It's ******* ridiculous that the exact same action gets punished differently depending on its effectiveness.
It's a really frustrating element of the AFL. Punish the action, regardless of the outcome. All swings of the elbow should be 2 weeks. Even if they hit the shoulder

The reason it's so confusing is deliberate.

It allows them get whatever they want, whilst pointing to some past incidents, (and dismissing other similar incidents) when it doesn't fit their end goal.

Surely the reason Gleeson is in this role is because he failed in standard law courts. The guy would be torn to shreds.

I hope the swans have a QC on retainer.

Well the AFL's first attempt at prosecuting this was "can't use examples we don't want"

Bunch of gits

I thought you couldn't use precedent.
AFL counsel Jeff Gleeson is arguing the Swans should be restricted to the examples contained in the 2021 Tribunal Guidelines and not be allowed to draw on precedents from outside that set.
So you can only use examples they want you to use

Yep it’s their playbook. Make it all grey with no black & white. Been doing this for a while now. People wonder why umpiring is so bad. It’s so grey it’s pretty much tassies whether forecast, overcast with a chance of showers. Lol

Long deliberation from the jury. Could really go either way based on that. I don't really care because he could use a break, but * it'd be funny if it was overturned.
