Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

Surely there are gates, if the AFL has a genuine concern that there will be a crowd invasion, they will have to open some sort of gate. It’s a better alternative than someone jumping a 6ft fence and breaking their neck resulting in a lawsuit

Way taller than 6ft from the pictures I've seen.

And tbh, if you jump a 6ft fence, during a pandemic, then do you really need to be protected?

You clearly don’t understand the drop over the fence there

It will be interesting to see if and how they manipulate the fixture around it

This is the AFL. Manipulating the fixture is what they do best

It has been such a pleasure to watch him play.

Two of his goals today just made me laugh.

There are heaps more goals ahead for him, especially with the new fitness folk doing such a great job.

Can’t blame him for missing that shot. Late in the game from outside 50 on the wrong side for a left. I know he’s money from that side of the ground but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s a nice easy shot. Besides it only just missed.

Next year has to be his last unless he wants to play for a rookie contract. It will stuff up our list management if we start offering him 400-500k . We will have Gulden , McDonald and Campbell plus others coming off contract end of next year we need to plan for the future now.
He is slowing , had a year on the sidelines. I didn't think he could come back like he did this year but he still performs to a really high level.
Best ever player I have seen for Sydney but we can't rely on him forever.

Sorry, the guy just made the AA squad of 40 and we're talking about him retiring next year? Buddy should keep playing as long as he wants to and his form permits. He's still easily one our best players, so we should have no problems paying him as such.
