Can’t blame him for missing that shot. Late in the game from outside 50 on the wrong side for a left. I know he’s money from that side of the ground but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s a nice easy shot. Besides it only just missed.

I would look at a game at the MCG R1 followed by a game at the SCG R2.I am banking on him not getting the 5 goals in R1 as I hope he gets the 1,000 on the SCG.Or even better first 2 rounds at the SCG.

Actually, that's a very good point. The more I think about it, the more I think it could be a really powerful tactical move to make us so much more unpredictable.

Imagine having to coach against the swans wondering how you'll set up defensively. They would essentially have to issue two sets of instructions. I don't think a simple player switch would cover the tactic well.

Would love to watch Buddy wreak havoc around the field.

I don't know whether this link ever made it onto our board but for those who haven't read it (like me) it's a very thoughtful and insightful analysis of Buddy , how he competes, what he brings to our team and to the game as a whole. He's a far more remarkable talent than he's usually given credit for and still made the All Australian list of 40 even in the twilight of his career, ie, still better than all but a tiny handful of tall forwards, even at his age. If he can stay fit he may go on for quite a few more years at the top. The realisation that his ability to score from and extend our scoring range to well outside 50 means the defence has another 30% to cover is interesting, as is the analysis of Buddy kicking from outside 50, that while they're harder shots it's just as worth going for as there are more opportunities outside 50. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-04-15/how-buddy-franklin-changed-the-afl/100068110

I hope Buddy will agree to play out his days at Sydney on a much reduced contract with a view to establishing himself in Sydney in a future career. He'd make a damn good future forwards coach with the way he studies the game and guides our young forwards.

Where will Buddy sit on the all time career goal list?

He kicked 51 in 2021 in a superb return to footy after a year out with injury.

Another year like that will propel him well past Gary Ablett snr and close to Doug Wade into 5th spot.

Injury free he may roll around again in 2023 at age 36 and could take 4th spot getting close to 1100 goals.
