This is an awesome pick up. Doesn't even lose us pick 99 which I personally have high hopes for.

I hated the idea mooted on the board of taking horrible Boomer for a year or two so players can 'learn' from him - but this actually works. Hawks senior players are genuine on-field coaches - and can you imagine the progress of a Clayton Oliver with someone around like Lewis as a mentor? Its great stuff. The only complicated part is going from seething contempt for Lewis to "hey, what a great guy - love the way he goes about it - what a campaigner!" but I've pretty much made the transition easily.

Also, none of you are aware but I haven't smoked for 7 days (well, 6 and a bit - am on day 7) and I knew it would bring good things. This is clearly a sign. If I keep not smoking we will probably land Fyfe next year.

The bit that will make it perfect is ending higher on the ladder than the Hawks next year, maybe with Jordan Lewis to make the 40 squad all Australian or something and then you will never see me again because I will be lurking the Hawks board 24/7.

Welcome Jordan. Snipe away campaigner!

What number will he get?
31? Its the lowest free number.
6, 14, 19, 22 all possible

Or he pulls an NFL and gives Salem $5000 for the 3

..................and $10,000.00 of nicotine patches headed your way!

Taken with pick 7 in the 2004 draft alongside Franklin and Roughead he's had a wonderful career. He's been a dominant midfielder during the prime of his career and in our flag seasons. A tough on-ball midfielder who has played his best footy against the top sides and is renowned for being finals specialist, Lewis's ability and veteran leadership qualities will be a welcome addition to Melbourne's young list who's on the cusp on playing finals next season. Has been a durable player for most of his career and should play a lot of games in 2017.

He's always been a shadow in Hodge and Mitchell's career despite Lewis being one of Hawthorn's most consistent players this decade. He still had a solid 2016 season for Hawthorn playing all 24 games and averaged 26 disposals - 6 marks - 4 tackles - 5 clearances - 4 inside 50s - 0.5 goals per game - 73% disposal efficiency

Career: 264 games - 145 goals
Averages: 23.8 disposals - 5.8 marks - 2.8 tackles - 1.7 hit-outs - 3.6 inside 50s - 4 clearances - 0.5 goals

Thanks for the 12 years you've spent at Hawthorn Jordan and everything you've given us Hawk fans. You'll always go down a champion Hawk player.

Good luck at your new club Melbourne. :thumbsu:

Can't say I was the biggest fan of bringing him in a week ago, but for the price it's not that bad even if I think it's unlikely he plays the third year. Melbourne have definitely done a lot worse trades in the not so distant future.

One definite upside for mine is that it solves our back up ruck conundrum. Whenever Gawn's out of there we can just chuck any old mug in the ruck and have Lewis go third man up over him every time.
