Regardless of the result tonight, it's crystal clear that Essendon have announced themselves as genuine flag contenders in season 2020. Virtually fielding a VFL team against a full strength Eagles (and umpires and crowd) they've dominated play all night. Will hard to beat this year.

Back to back

Essendon have been playing well. Seems like Caracalla already had an effect on their style of play.

Looks like the "Kennedy is done'" chants may quiet down a little now. Guys usually injured till round 5 every year.

Might as well fold the club, can't even get the job done against Essendon. Look forward to the inevitable Gold Coast vs Essendon GF

All the joking aside, was a good game to watch. Some rust for both teams but a lot of run for Essendon. Watching the run and snazzy stuff, I still cringed knowing that the work Essendon needs to do is the hard body stuff. The pressure game. We will never know if that have that in February, but I just want to know!

For a first game, was good to see. Neither team came out with any serious injuries and the Bombers got ahead and had to dig in when the Eagles had a ping and challenged them.

Good to see Kennedy go so well early in the year and see Nic Nat looking sharp.

Loved watching Mosquito's run and Langford has definitely turned a corner.

Wouldn't worry about the commentators not knowing their names.

The umps make up for it by being on first name basis with them all.
Pretty sure the ump with the beard was a Bombers player in disguise doing some rehab.
