Don’t mean to be a nark and I’m loving the almost-forgotten feeling of a win but I hope this result puts to bed the absurd tinfoil-hat theories floated on this board about North being the victim of some giant AFL conspiracy with regards to umpiring. We were absolutely kissed on the Johnson today by the umps and those nuffies who pollute this board with their nutso ‘we were robbed’ theories - and you know who you are - need to acknowledge that.

I don't go for any of the conspiracy nuttiness but to say we were kissed on the johnson by the umpires today is a very nuffy thing to say. Stop listening to the commentary.

Squawks autopsy page is glorious
Calls to sack Clarkson start on the first page
Too good..
This is the type of thinking that will get us into trouble again... Clarko keeps saying it can turn quickly.... that we should look at Sydney and Richmond... well I am sorry Clarko but they are both better coaches than you...This whole "it can turn quick" is what's going to lead us to picking up more 26+ aged free agents and trading our early picks... NO THANKS!... understand where you stand and commit to a rebuild finally!

If you look at our season to date in three game blocks you can see we are improving as team.

Rounds 1-3. 3 defeats, 19.29.143 - 56.46.382. 37.43%
No visable gameplan, defense looks a rabble, attack non-existent, more turnovers that total points scored.

Round 4-6. 3 defeats, 23.25.163 - 40.45.285. 57.19%
Signs of a gameplan appearing, teamwork developing, defensive structure showing improvement but still a lot of turnovers and errors costing the side dearly.

Rounds 7-9. 1 win, 2 defeats, 35.26.236 - 42.25-277. 85.20%
Gameplan and teamwork taken a further positive step, defense showing further improvement and attacking structure beginning to play positively. Number of mistakes are reducing and improved teamwork means we can reduce the cost of each mistake.

The biggest thing about todays game compared to the first eight, we ran out the game better than our opponent. The signs have been there in previous weeks that we can compete with other teams for two or three quarters, but eventually we get run over as we burn so much fuel trying to cover our mistakes. Today, after quarter time, we connected with more passes, made fewer mistakes and were able to maintain the pressure throughout the second half, even lift our rate in the fourth, all while still playing a predominantly young and inexperienced line up.

What a fantastic feeling it is to have win, been a long time between drinks. I am happy for all the players and staff, it will be a great tonic to acknowledge that we have been doing a lot right and have shown a lot of improvement over the last few weeks without getting the chocolates.

Cunners, Simpkin and LDU dominated in the middle, 37 clearances between three players, 99 disposals, 64 contested possessions. Goldy also played a massive game.

Powell didn't get as much of the ball as he has in other weeks but his touch is class, plays with the confidence/maturity of 100 game player and isn't afraid to throw his body into the contest.

I have been getting quietly excited about Thomas over the last few weeks, he has been spending more time in the middle and looking this year to be a more accomplished midfielder, his ability to get into the right position to receive the ball and connect well with our mids has gone to a new level, he was fantastic and looked really damaging.

Turner continues to play well in defensive roles, i think he is enjoying playing as a tagger as well.

Garner played a great game, was able to get himself into good position and took his chances.

Zurhaar has been in the wars this year and he was falling over at contests early on, but he shrugged off the yips to impose himself and he really started to build some confidence again.

Garner and Zurhaar looking dangerous also allowed poor Larkey the opportunity to compete one-on-one and he was able to get into space and started to look more dangerous. I am a bit worried about his not making the distance from 40ish out the last couple of weeks, wonder what is going on with that. I think once we are able to get him a bit more tall support then we will be able to get a lot more out of Larkey.

Hall was again fantastic off half-back, there is a massive difference when he gets the ball and when Atley does, Hall has the confidence to take the game on and break it open, Atley gets a bit nervous whenever he sees someone in front of him and stops, goes sideways.

The most important thing... when we were getting pumped early in the season, our leading players with pressure acts were Powell, Phillips, Lazzaro and other inexperienced kids and daylight between them and senior players. Today it was Hall leading with 21, Simpkin 19, Cunnington 18, Mahony 18, Thomas 18, LDU 17, Dumont 16, Garner 15, Atley 14, Powell 14, Taylor 14, Young 13, Zurhaar 11, Campbell and McKay 10, etc. It was a much better spread and a lot more leadership from our mature group.

Good posting, but let's not deny that "the process" has had a wake up call & some tweaking over the short journey.

Every teams gameplan/"process" evolves over the course of a season, you would have be an idiot to think otherwise.

Bruest is going to wake up in the middle of the night and Turner is going to be between him and his missus. He was an animal today, love it. Stopped him getting a lot of soft uncontested disposals.

Didn't "crumb" a goal. Delist.
