After some shocking individual performances last night, I think its time for AFC to swing the axe.

We will not have Carey, Stevens, Welsh, Burton, Smart and Rutten to choose from. I also think Schell is injured.

Who comes and who makes way for them??????

OUT: Carey (inj), Gallagher and Mattner
IN: Doughty, Begley and someone else but who. Hentschel, Bock, Smith have all been ordinary in the last couple of weeks. Hentschell started well against Centrals yesterday but went missing for the rest of the game. Bock was VERY quiet. Smith has played in SANFL reserves for a couple of week. I think we really will be struggling to field a decent side against Lions.:(

Thought??????

Doughty must come in as his form warrants it. Just a pity he had a week off this week. If we are to bring in another tall, I would try Hentschel as he is the future. He debuted on on the SCG where many forwards struggle & his form up until this week for the Eagles has been solid. Bock just doesn't impress me & Smith hasn't done enough. It's a real pity Rutten is injured as I'm sure he would be given a game.

I am not really in favour of bringing in Hentschel for a big game like this. It might just destroy his confidence and all that talent would be wasted. Neither of the 3 talls are ready for AFL footy IMHO. Unfortunately it looks like Marsh or Schell will get a recall. Maybe Biglands can start at FF.

Played for Sturt reserves this week. Named in the best players for the squad.
I talked to Dogga after the game, and he is hoping to play next week. If the selector's don't pick him again, they need to tell him what he has to improve on cause for all i can see is that he is doing an EXCELLENT job, and deserves to play for the squad before some other players currently playing in the squad!!

My INS/OUTS
OUT: Carey, Gallager, Mattner
IN: Schell, Dogga, Begley

Shelly may not be the best player going around, but he is a forward, and with our Lack of at the moment, we need him for this match against the Lions.

Stiffy, as you watch Hentschel more than me, I'll take your point on this. However, I have seen enough of Marsh & Schell in Crows colours fullstop! Would prefer to improvise then. eg.

FB: McGregor (v Lynch), Massie (v Bradshaw)
HB: Begley (v White)
HF: Bassett (v Leppitsch)
FF: Perrie (v Michael)

Oh, I just read this:
"In addition, tall Daniel Schell cannot be considered as a replacement because he also is having knee surgery this week and will miss about four matches."

Yeah so Schell wont come in....I have no clue what forward the crows possibly have on their list to come into the squad this week. Do we have any rookies that can possibily be promted that play forward? and should Parker be promoted to keep the pressure off Hart and mcgregor in the back lines?

Marsh and Schell will not come in. They are both injured.

McGregor Vs Lynch is a bit of a worry so is anyone against Lynch really.
Bradshaw would be too good for Massie

Bassett and Perrie up forward are most probably the go. Who Matches up on Brennan who can just kill you if given any room.

I think it is time to promote Parker.

Would any of you guys bring in an underdone Welsh if he has recovered from broken thumb?
If that does happen, he could injure himself even more. Happened at the start of the year with the O.P., how he had a quick inclusion to the Westies game, and injured his leg/groin even more. Personally, I wouldn't be so sure putting him back in now...although one game at Westies could give an idea about his progress.

Drop Perrie. Please, drop Perrie.

I don't think Parker's form has been that flash... he's been OK.

I'd like to see Doughty back in - he dominated for Sturt reserves yesterday, which probably wasn't difficult, but the few weeks before he was consistently one of our best players. He's in good form. On the other hand, I'm more than happy for him to continue at South for another couple of weeks.... ;)

Parker may be a much needed tall, but I don't think he's shown anything special yet, and I'd leave him at South for another couple of weeks (ie... hands off Crows we need him...)

And he can mark...which is more than can be said for a few others.

Some goal kicking practice would be nice this week.

I am a very passionate supporter of the crows, but, to tell you the truth, i think we have absolutely no chance of beating brisbane IN brisbane next week with virtually no key fowards to choose from. Who the hell is gonna kick our goals???(other than the midfield cohort) I am VERY worried at the moment. We REALLY need Welsh and Burton fit.
I think Parker might have a chance this week...he is tall and we DESPERATELY need a tall foward option, especially against the lions backman, who are fantastic. The only problem with him is that he is very inexperienced, which might tell its story by the end of the game.

Why? He actually didn't play that badly. He's just not suited to a tagging role.

If he is a defender he needs to have defensive capabilities. He had his man who had 32 touches, 10 marks and kicked 2 goals as well as setting up a couple. On no less than 5 occassions Woewodin was staring on the win at centre bounces and Mattner was nowhere near him. He was no where near 20-30 meters of Woewodin. He might not be a tagger but you sure the hell don't give that much room to your man.

I don't think there will be too many changes because there really aren't many options not in the side worth considering.

Out: Carey, Gallagher or Mattner

Ins: Begley, Doughty

I think Crowell will play FF and Perrie CHF - Hentschel and Bock's form don't warrant promotion and there are no other non-injured options.

Biglands and Clarke may have to change from a forward pocket to put a bit of height up forward to assist in gettting the ball to ground for Burns and Co.

I can't see us winning this one.

I still think Mattner looked alright when he got the ball. But on reflection I have to concede there probably isn't a spot for him if he can't play an accountable role. I think we need to bring in another tagger - remember this is Brisbane we are playing against. Will Robert Shirley come into consideration?

He has to be a chance. If he does come in, then it guarantees both Gallagher's and Mattner's omissions.

He has got to be a chance as we honestly cannot win going all out attack with practically no forward line and a dodgy defence.

If Shirley does come in then who does he tag. Stenglein will get Voss, thats just about a given. Could Shirley be given a job on Lappin who always kills us????

As macca23 said below, no uninjured talls o our list have deserved a spot but if we don't bring in a tall for Carey I feel we might be too short for Brisbane. I agree Biglands and Clarke should rotate through forward line to try and bring the ball down for our crumbers and Crowell as our leading FF.

I also think we need to drop players back on defence or maybe play our ruckman loose in defence. I don't think we can win but as long as we fight our guts off it shouldn't be a blow out. I hope:(

You're hoping a coach who couldn't work out that leaving the opposition's forward line wide open with seconds to go could lose a game is going to actually think of this Stiffy!!
