You're going for a throwback to the Adelaide of the last 20 years thing with those kind of calls? Not dropping or resting clearly injured/hampered senior players (Lynch, and McAdam in particular), and instead throwing kids who have shown enough to be persisted with under the bus.

I mentioned McAdam as a potential drop in an earlier post, has done little since round 1 and is starting to do nothing but go for mark of the year.

Neither Fogarty nor McHenry have shown enough to be persisted with, and in need of a second genuine KPD I've not been particularly impressed with McPherson or Hamill this year, and Kelly is Kelly.

Fogarty out is a definite, he didn't work in the midfield, he didn't work forward. If Hately were fit that'd be the first change I'd make this week, but he isn't, so I'm at a loss. Is he fit? He didn't play in the SANFL, but I don't see him on the injury list, or anything about a suspension, what's happening there?

We also need to pick a defender who isn't Butts or Doedee, and drop them for a second genuine KPD, Worrell being the presumptive in.

I'd also end the Ned McHenry trial, and bring in someone else. Maybe it's a Pedlar, maybe it's a Newchurch, depends where we want to play him most.

Or perhaps Newchurch for Macadam? Couple of pretty ordinary performance in a row, playing from behind and not doing the ground stuff.

I would say Pedlar is closer to debuting than Newchurch. The stat line was very deceptive for Newchurch yesterday. Couple of his goals came from down the field free kicks. His pressure was nonexistent at times as well.

Pedlar definitely closer but if Newchurch can lift his defensive efforts his speed can be a major weapon and they may debut him later in the year. Has a bit of a young Charlie Cameron about him.

Frampton should go for Himmelberg or Thilthorpe. Himmelberg took ten marks, that immediately puts him ahead of Frampton.

I’d like to see Pedlar, Worrell and Thilthorpe soon.

Maaate you do not see Walker playing without any calf strapping then go down the rooms at half time and have the trainer put a heavy strapping on the calf if he hasn't got a niggle, likely the reason he didn't train this week.

His movement up and down the ground was severely limited.

I'd take out McAdam and Lynch for a rest, and drop Frampton. Bring in Hately, Himmelberg and maybe Pedlar for his debut?

But we all know we won't make that many changes

On current form McPherson should go before Kelly, offering zero offensively, certainly less than Kelly today. All in all McPherson has just been middling this season.

Yes... Fogarty was completely invisible for most of it, and only McAdam & Frampton had less of the ball than he did. That's rarified atmosphere, right there. Fogarty is a liability in most games, particularly today. We should have been playing Hately in his position - at least we wouldn't have been short one midfielder if we had done so.

Fog wasn't the only problem... but he was A problem - and he was a problem that the selectors created themselves when they unbalanced the side by bringing him in for Sloane last week.

I have been saying it for 2 weeks... & was laughed at.... then the club confirmed it... yet still persist playing him with a buggared toe. He hasn't trained properly for 2 weeks & didn't even warm up today with his team mates.

Stop playing injured players... & no, Lynch was nowhere near as useful as Fog today.

I mean, aside from a phwoar bump at the first bounce, and a shepherd in the third quarter, what did he do all game? Fyfe was his man in the midfield and fogarty made no impact there, and up forward he was equally anonymous, not able to take marks or create crumbs with potential via aerial contest. He was an absolute non entity. Even Frampton did more, and he did six tenths of nothing all day.

I'm glad someone else was watching the game without their patented "I Love Fog despite him doing SFA" blinkers on.

It's quite the conundrum we face. We have multiple players who are clearly hampered by injury (Lynch, McAdam, Walker), and others who are demanding to be dropped (Frampton, Fogarty, McPherson) through poor performances. Unfortunately, we have few players screaming "pick me" in the SANFL team, and certainly nowhere near as many as we need to replace in the AFL team.

Beg to differ on the last part, but I do agree with your comments about them persisting with Lynch and that they should stop playing injured players.

Round 1 the next year, wipe all 'learnings' (God I hate that wanky word) and start again.

It's quite the conundrum we face. We have multiple players who are clearly hampered by injury (Lynch, McAdam, Walker), and others who are demanding to be dropped (Frampton, Fogarty, McPherson) through poor performances. Unfortunately, we have few players screaming "pick me" in the SANFL team, and certainly nowhere near as many as we need to replace in the AFL team.

There is only one player in our line-up who is demanding to be dropped in our situation and that's Frampton. He's had 4 poor games in a row. No one else is near that.

McPherson is nowhere near the axe. Had a 23 disposal, 4 mark, 7 intercept and 415 meters gained game against North. Struggled this week, but has shown enough in his brief career you persist with.

Fogarty again, for a player 4 games into a role switch is fine. Had one spectacular moment in the third where he overpowered a would be tackler, and hit a 40 m pass to Frampton which was the main highlight (and that level of class alone screams persist). Beyond that, 11 disposals, 1 goal, 190 meters gained, 4 score involvements, 2 tackles/7 PA (tackles are not included in PAs as a note, as I found that out last week) defensively is an alright day out. Nothing there in a rebuilding side that says drop him. There is to a team who can't afford to be patient, but that's not us this year. We have nothing but time at the moment. Persist until it's at the point he's either a mainstay best 22 player, or we're ready to delist, and for me, that decision doesn't happen until round 15-17.

It's a pretty easy week selection wise. You rest Lynch and McAdam because you have too, you debut Hately because our midfield needs another player in the mix, and Hately played well enough against West Adelaide, and Newchurch/Pedlar because next man up + both have shown enough that they'll have a bright future. We're going to need Lynch/McAdam later on in the season to remain as competitive as possible, for as long as possible and giving either Newchurch or Pedlar a way to see if they can find a valuable niche with the step up also has a lot of value. Replacing Frampton with Thilthorpe is a call that's getting easier by the week, Frampton has had 4 weeks to work it out, after a good game against Geelong and just hasn't (he did play ever so slightly better than the sub this week, so a minor improvement), so it's time to try something different. Thilthorpe is also your prized recruit and now is a good a time as any due to how spotty our SANFL side is going to be.
