Who has watched Wigg a bit over time? I haven't so don't profess to know.

Is his kicking actually as abysmal as it has been the times he's been on tv this season or were they just a couple of out of character shockers?

I first saw him play as a 14 year old and he was already a good kick then, he's a really good kick but like some young players has trouble sometimes processing all the info from the coaches of what he should be doing with the time and space he has to do it, that's why he mucked up those kicks with less time in the JLT series then he was used to at SANFL level as he was trying to always take a correct option.

I've always said he should at least be afforded the option of having a crack at AFL level to see if he could be a chance of excelling at that level.

At least he and Matt Crouch arrive at the ground to play to their standard
They're a big part of the problem at the moment IMO. Taking up a large % of midfield time and providing us with absolutely nothing. They don't create anything.

Dear hasn't done a thing this year and tbh, he's no chance of ever playing a game for us. We won't replace either of Otten or Jenkins with a tall forward if either / both of them ever get dropped. It'll be Lever replacing Otten, or Beech / Greenwood coming in and then a shuffling of the deck.

Poholke can't even get it 20 times at SANFL level. Is comfortably behind Beech and Greenwood who share similar traits as players.

Knight (if fit) and Wigg are right in the frame instead of those two.

What I would do is...

Out: Menzel (omitted / inj), Mackay (omitted), Hampton (omitted), Cameron (managed), Jenkins (omitted)

In: Greenwood, Knight, Beech, Wigg, Lever (Gallucci the travelling emergency and/or substitute for Knight if Riley isn't right to go)

Now I'm fully aware this is a 0% chance of happening.

In all likelihood, Menzel will miss due to injury, and the changes will be Lever and Knight replacing Menzel and Otten. Otten's body of work this season is far more impressive than Jenkins', and Josh's fabled "superior pace" is currently the least useful attribute of any player in the squad. He's playing like a lazy campaigner who got paid, and has no business being selected against Brisbane.

Knight needs to prove himself after last week before being given another crack CC stats in

I agree with a lot of the change suggested here. But am I the only one that watches Kelly and thinks he just isn't up to afl standard. He had one good game.

The way he approaches the loose ball - he stops to a walk, slowly bends down to pick it up allowing the opposition time to close in and tackle. Seriously, what is up with that.

Agree. He's handy squad depth but no more.

Pull the trigger on Doedee.

Our defence was too tall again as well. We didn't have match ups for Hartigan, Talia and Otten. Talia got lost up the ground and is a snail tracking back.

Kelly struggles when lever wasn't in our side our whole backline struggles when lever isn't in the team.

Dear was just an idea to counter the soft as butter effort JJ gives us. At the least dear would give us a contest.

Think we all agree that Greenwood is an in after that Lever is an in and probably Knight.

After that it's up to the selectors to grow a spine and make some hard choices

The games Dear does ok seem to be the ones I don't watch.

Every time I've seen one of his games he doesn't even get on the screen once for the whole game. Even Lowden and Hunter were/are better at commanding the ball and positioning.

A proven AFL player will be back next week in the SANFL it will come down to how quick he can come up to speed

CC is not being omitted per se in my proposed changes. I feel he needs to be freshened up. Has not been the same player since he was put on ice in the 4th quarter a few weeks back. Doesn't feel like a coincidence to me.

As for Knight, he obviously copped a knock at some stage against North. Prior to that, he had performed consistently at AFL level this season. Not sure how many players we have who have only played 1 stinker this year, and of those, not sure how many would have the excuse of playing a portion of the game injured.

I have no idea if Knight will be 100% fit by Thursday night, but if he is, he's in for me. If he's not, either rest him completely or give him reduced game time at SANFL level. He's one of about 3 players on our list who run hard both ways and we need him moving forward. He's also genuinely tough which is another rarity for us.

Bigger issues than Kelly.

Was talking to a lady who knows Riley's family. She said 4 weeks!! But that could just be the country town talking.
I certainly don't trust the club's one week call.

Also the club said it was a corkie whereas the poster who provided the early info on here said it was a hamstring.

More midfield time for Laird, Wigg into Laird's defensive role?

That way it isnt so much a baptism of fire and we can get arguably our most consistent player into the guts with Sloaney and M. Crouch.
This is a good idea - our much vaunted flexibility!!! Finally !!!

Wigg and Laird can rotate Mid and back , both don't have problems finding the ball

Finally a common sense comment Re Wigg and not a bandwagon jump on comment with little facts

If there is no statement this week at the selection table we may as well pack up shop for the year. Gold passes galore and no chance of being dropped so many passengers the last 2 weeks

Yep good post.

Chance for the struggling players to redeem themselves at home in great conditions at AO and they didnt turn up.

Axe needs to be delivered. We will know a lot about Pyke if he fails to respond to this debacle at the selection table. Players need to know and believe there is no infinite life lines.

Doesn't have the fitness to play AFL. If he is fit, he can burst away from the pack and kick it, now he hand passes because doesn't have the aerobic capacity to enact plan A
Agreed - in open play he struggles to run and repeat effort . One moment out on wing where I felt sorry for him chasing a loose ball

Should have played 3 more sanfl games

The change that needs to happen this week is from selection, if anyone didn't see this loss coming during the week is kidding themselves, walker was an absolute wank in the early week presser smirking and shrugging off the disaster that was the north game and Pyke and selection co making no unforced changes, it stinks of accepting mediocrity. ****ing put a rocket up the playing group Pyke, premiership coaches and successful sides have never been afraid to drop even their best players, time to make a statement, weak as piss.
