Milera dropped after one of his better games. Yeah actually that's pretty likely.

I got bagged out for saying "anyone else think we will lose against the dees" it was predictable.. the crows will always be the crows.. build you up just to let you down.
OUT:
Menzel, Mackay (yes this week he is gone) & Kelly
IN:
Lever, Greenwood & Wigg

Would love to see Thommo in! but him and M Crouch n the same side makes us look very sluggish and slow. thoughts
Thommo could maybe help Sloane shake tags.. bring some toughness

I don't even know where to start with this. I mean, how much has changed since we were flogging teams? Obviously seems like an effort thing, or a mental thing. Regardless, we need to make some changes, and I'm happy to get some guys in who are hungry and drop the more fragile players (Jenkins, Mackay, etc.).
I'm a bit wary about making too many changes, as it could just make us worse, which I don't want to see. I think Pykey really has to earn his coin over the next month or two.

I guess the positive is that we still have some wins up our sleeve. Our only hope is we can sort out our funk before we fall too far behind, and at this stage, I'm expecting to lose a few more games over the next two months.

I'd like to see Greenwood in, and I'd like us to actually try a few different things, our midfield is not working.
Mackay needs to go, he just isn't up to it. He handed the game to Melbourne at the end of the second quarter, we could be playing Gallucci or someone there instead and start to see some development.

Not is all lost, but It's feeling pretty ordinary.

Doedee and Galluci play with intensity are you kidding, Doedee will be a liability until he gets his kicking right now, it needs to improve and will get knocked off the ball to easily and Galluci is learning and is too far out of the game ATM we have a problem with getting out muscled and you want to bring in light weights , Beech and Wigg clearly deserve a crack with what they are showing wate of time bringing in players that actually could send us backwards
No he's not kidding!
Both Doedee and Gallucci's attack on the contest, ball and ball carrier are very good so I don't know where you get this idea they play with no intensity from.
I'd back both in 1 on 1 contests with Harrison Wigg both in the air and in ground ball. Wigg all through his junior career was always considered to be very "outside" which surprised me a little when we selected him. It was strongly suggested he was our fall back position after missing on Brayden Maynard who the Pies took surprisingly early, and Maynard's playing style is almost the exact opposite of Wigg being a very contested and inside type player.

Just on Doedee perhaps read this article in the Geelong Advertiser just prior to the 2015 Draft and take note of what former top footballer and now Falcons talent Manager Mick Turner had to say about Tom.....this is not a player that intensity!! Also puts that bullshit spouted that he wasn't on other club's radars too.

Ask most talent managers and they’ll put him in the 90-95 per cent basket after he made a fulltime commitment to footy this year and delivered on the potential that Falcons officials knew he had. The 18-year-old is regarded as the best one-on-one defender in the draft pool and could be snapped up as early as the second round. “He played on the best forward week in, week out, and did a really good job every time,” Geelong Falcons talent manager Michael Turner said. Doedee’s meteoric rise is all the more remarkable given he was injured for the first half of pre-season and was forced to start the practice matches in the equivalent of a Falcons’ reserves side. But quickly, a star was being born. By June he was playing for Vic Country, then came the invitation to the AFL Draft Combine and now 14 clubs have sounded him out. “It’s crazy to hear that stuff (being the best one-on-one defender) bouncing around,” he said.
“When Mick told me, I was pretty thrown back by it. “I feel it’s probably one of the strongest parts of my game and I was fairly in tune with that in basketball, just the defensive hustle. “It still took me by surprise, considering this is my first year playing in defence — before I was the forward trying to kick all the goals, now I’m trying to stop them.”

Last year we lost to Western Bulldogs and then Geelong in consecutive weeks. Guess what changes we made?

Out: B. Crouch, M. Crouch
In: Lyons, Van Berlo

Remained in the side:

Brodie Smith, 6 touches against Geelong
Richard Douglas, 8 then 9 touches in consecutive weeks
Paul Seedsman, 9 touches against Geelong
Scott Thompson, led the clanger count against the Bulldogs, then backed it up with just 3 clearances against Geelong

Come the Sydney final:

Matt Crouch: 34 touches
Brad Crouch: 18 touches

Lyons: 19 touches, 15 handballs at 63% DE
Van Berlo: Dropped
Thompson: 20 touches at 45% DE
Smith: 16 touches, 4 rebounds, no tackles
Douglas: 17 touches at 41% DE, 3 behinds, no clearances
Seedsman: Injured

Who did we play the following week??

Not sure either Crouch is in the gun, way too many ahead of them.

Need to give up on the four talls up forward, at least until Gov comes back. It's a close call between Hartigan and Otten given how bad Hartigan has been the last two weeks. Playing him on smaller players has caused him to forget the basics of defending.

Out: Menzel (inj), Otten, Mackay, Hampton (omit)
In: Lever, Knight, Greenwood, Wigg

B: Hartigan, Talia, Brown
HB: Laird, Lever, Smith
C: Atkins, Sloane, Cameron
HF: Knight, Walker, Milera
F: Lynch, Jenkins, Betts
R: Jacobs, M. Crouch, Douglas
I/C: Kelly, B. Crouch, Greenwood, Wigg

Gallucci in if Knight isn't right.

On the edge: Hartigan, Kelly, Atkins, Lynch, Cameron, B. Crouch

Absolutely! I cannot believe the coaches cannot see the issue with a forward line containing so many defensive, ground ball liabilities...they are not even that good in the air! Awesomely talented, attacking oversized flankers is what they are.

We need one less tall yet also need someone who can clunk a mark and provide an aerial target (Beech!).

Replace JJ with Otten and I think you are spot on - please email to Pyke. It's a risk moving Laird from HBF but one i feel the club is compelled to take given how insipid our inside mids are looking (Sloane excepted).
To be honest, don't really care who out of Otten and JJ plays. Went for JJ as it was painful watching Otten turn and chase. He must be close to the slowest in the side.

Just no.

You bemoan the Crows for this kind of shit, then suggest this kind of shit.

Selecting Thommo now shows we aren't going anywhere this season, moreso than our last two losses.

Probably go 3-4 changes seeing a) It's Brisbane, b) some players need a rocket.

In: Lever, Poholke, Knight, Greenwood.

Out: Jenkins, Mackay, Menzel, Kelly.

Firstly, we may as well use this game to blood Poholke, sooner we get him into the side the sooner we reap the benefits of that pick. Menzel is a good one to make way for this to happen.
Lever for Jenkins, with Otten going into the ruck is to return to the structure we had when we were playing our best football.
Knight/Greenwood for Mackay/Kelly - Get probably the only two players who have a chance to make a difference this season in now is probably worth it.

Hampton i'm on the fence on, I've been looking for that breakout game as there is a devastating player in him, but it just hasn't come.

Are you saying what you think, or what you think the club believes?

Because while I can imagine the club thinks it's fine, no reasonable observer could possibly think Brad isn't under the gun for a pair of shit performances in a repeat of last year, that were essentially the core reason behind the loss.

Matt is nowhere near the gun, both my thinking and most likely the clubs.

Brad is more difficult to assess. His defensive running is non-existent, which it pretty much always has been. Difference is now, as it was early last year, he isn't damaging with ball in hand.

Dropping him to the SANFL wouldn't solve that. He gets 40 and gets brought back.

He would be in the gun, but there's a few before him and of course injuries.
