Where we have smashed Port recently is in the middle, which will be crucial to beating their chippy chippy play.

Win the middle, get it to our forwards quickly and score.

So I can’t see CEY or Greenwood making way, if Knight is an in it will be for Galluci.

We don’t need to replace Milera with a like for like, Mackay will just stay down back.

We’ve got wings covered, there isn’t a spot for him there.

I’m with Miss Vanessa.

Gooch >>>>>>>> Knight. Weird comment after seeing the stats you quoted.
I'll readily admit that Gallucci has shaded Knight in his performances this year, and I'm not going to be upset if Knight doesn't come in. But given that it seems the club are likely to select him (given his management this week), Gallucci is probably the one to make way.

I was simply stating that Knight is a complete pr*ck on the football field and the type of player you'd love to have in your side for a Showdown.

This is going to be a cracker I think. They will really need to come out firing here and our form has been far from perfect. It will be 2-3 goal win either way and as said above we really need to win the midfield contest. If we do that we should win. I have been surprised how poor they have been in two of the last three weeks but again this game shapes as their grand final. Hopefully Sloane and Tex are back and we should win.

Gooooooood.

But Showdown. We need to be switched on. And I think we will. Port will bring - er, it? er, something anyway, and hopefully that'll keep us honest.
Problem is we struggle against minnows

interestingly I caught the end of MMM last night and Roo said Knight wouldn't have come in if we had a late out. They held Poholke over and he would have as Knight was too tight despite being an emergency which is a bit odd (maybe it is a conspiracy to cover an injury knowing with 4 emergencies it doesn't matter to sacrifice 1).

Also Roo was having a crack at Ports mids. Someone said how they could be bolstered by bringing in Rocky, SPP and Trengove and Roo quite strongly said/asked how does that bolster them, they are all playing SANFL (ie they currently available and aren't seen as 1st choice so how does bringing them in help that much, especially Trengove)

Put blunty the best thing your entire organisation of pricks n media pant sniffers can do for us right now is to smash the total shit out of the cesspool that sits where my beloved club once was, im talking like the last showdown on roids

Seriously sometimes u gotta go back right back to go forward and right now u lot winning that hard might start to shift the tectonic plates down at Alberton

Tex & Sloane in pls

We belted you last year by 84 points and Ollie Wines said it wasn't that bad. Kern said things were looking up.

So what's it gonna take? How many points do we need to "smash the total shit out of the cesspool that sits where my beloved club once was"?

119?

Gooch was 3rd for pressure acts tonight, also ran a game high KM for us. He was 4th against the Suns (Knight was 14th), and 3rd against the Swans (Knight was 6th).
Nah Knight ran twice as far as everyone else on the field last week. That’s why we had to manage him after 2 games.

We’d like to, but apparently we can never tear you apart. Guess you’re stuck together for 4 more years. ;)

These games are like Port's grand final, so it wouldnt surprise me that they are competitive with us for a quarter or two. But this is the kind of team we should be tearing apart over the course of an entire game.

Did we not previously play CEY, Sloane, Mrouch, Gibbs and Greenwood in the same side? Even if that isn't wise, it'd suggest the selectors consider it an option.
Yes, but we didn’t really have any other midfield options at that point. Knight is a potential option now, so it will be interesting to see what the selectors do.

Even if we do Ken is still safe as you can't afford to pay out his contract.
He has the safest job in the league.

You can thank KT and Kochie for that.

I'm liking how many players we've played this year. Competition for spots is really heating up whereas last year it was basically non existent.

We've got CEY and Greenwood both in the side with Gibbs, Crouch and Douglas. Sloane and Brad Crouch are still to return.

We've got Milera, Atkins, Mackay and Seedsman in the team. We also want to play Knight and have Smith to return later in the year.

In the forward line we have Fogarty ready to go, plus we have Murphy that's very capable as a small forward. Throw Knight down there as well maybe. Gallucci playing really well. Plenty of options and plenty of pressure to perform.

Then in defence we have Otten ready to step in when required.

That is fantastic depth and great competition. I bet it's the reason we've seen Mackay lift and a bloke like CEY is adding so much because he knows he could make way at any point.

I'm not having a go at a fellow Canberran in particular, but this view, as for a lot of others', smacks of preconceived opinions.
CEY and Greenwood are completely undroppable at present, based on viewing with the eyes for several weeks. Someone else will have to go!
CEY is playing well, probably the best of his career - but he's nowhere near being "completely undroppable". The fact is that we have Sloane returning this week, and someone has to make way for him. CEY hasn't done anything wrong, and wouldn't be dropped if we didn't have a genuine gun player returning. Unfortunately for him, we do...

I’m not convinced we’ll make ourselves more inside by bringing Sloane in and not dropping someone like CEY, despite his game last night.

Sloane, CEY, Crouch and Greenwood all in the same team is a lot of inside mids.

Sloane doesn't have to be an inside mid. He'd be very handy rotating through the back flank and wing rotations. Much harder to tag out of the game in those roles as well. Will be interesting to see whether there's any imagination from the coaches.

Mackay has definitely tended to lift over the last 2-3 years when his spot comes under pressure. Hopefully that remains the case.

Particularly a good way of managing Sloane when he is coming back from injury.

Make him the icing not the cake for a while.

Let the likes of CEY do the heavy lifting whilst Sloane comes up to full fitness.
