Yep by picking out one example you have succesfully dismissed any argument the umpires were bad.
My favorite was the commentators fawning over Grundy "taking Ryders leap away by going up early." So someone jumps into someone before the ball gets there to block a player jumping and we're supposed to be impressed?
Did Grundy touch the ball in his early leap? No. Was he actually going for the ball? No.
He never goes for the ball, he just does whatever he can get away with in impeding his opponent. He gets in their way and doesn't actually go for the ball himself, he pushes them away from the drop zone, he puts an arm over their arm to prevent them lifting it to mark (a la Silvagni v Salmon).
Time the umpires looked seriously at this. They don't allow you to "spoil" in any way front on, unless you are going for the ball yourself and make no contact. Why so much leeway when you are not actually going for the ball when you are not front on?
