Jeff Kennett was Premier of Victoria from 1992 to 1999 - Hawthorn nearly folded in that time
John Olsen started his Chairmanship of the AFC in October 2020 - we wait and hope
Jeff Kennett was Hawthorn President from 2005 - 2011 - Hawthorn won 1 flag in 2008
Jeff Kennett returned as Hawthorn President in 2017 - Hawthorn have won no flags
I think Olsen has Jeffy covered
The Record
Having played each other 43 times for a 23-20 Hawthorn lead its actually surprising it is that close. Hawthorn have always seemed to have the edge in matches against Adelaide and so having a record so close is heartening
The last 3 games have been relatively comfortable affairs producing similar scorelines in all 3 games
Adelaide defeated Hawthorn 83-48 Adelaide Oval September 1 2020
Hawthorn defeated Adelaide 87-55 Adelaide Oval 23 March 2019
Hawthorn defeated Adelaide 88-32 MCG 16 June 2018
Its the Away games the AFC dont like - winning only 8 games from 20 attempts - and 1 from 5 attempts at UTAS/York Park
The Stats
Kicks , Handballs and Disposals are all for Hawthorn yet their I50s and goals scored are both low - likely meaning they are still chipping away trying to find that perfect outlet for goal. Adelaide are ahead in most of the contested stats - which is a good sign of workrate and effort - but will it be enough?

Again it looks as if we come up against a midfield that could impose themselves on the game. Mitchell strength is his handball and I wonder how we will counter that - do we let him get the ball and sweat off his receivers? Or stop him early and starve everybody?

Thats not too bad - not blowing a gale anyway
The Challenge
Are we starting to hit a wall of fatigue and new kid enthusiasm dying in the cold hard autumn day? Or did we shoot ourselves in the foot with selections? Are Hawthorn really that much better than us?
Hawthorn started the year with a BANG! defeating Essendon after being 40 points down. They have since lost to Geelong , Tigers , Freo and Melbourne. I think they are similar to us that they will be inconsistent at times.
But its Clarkson - lets not beat around the bush - Hardwick might be flavour of the month but Clarkson is supreme. Its no surprise Hardwick learnt under Clarkson and got advice the night before the flag in 2017. Clarkson has smashed Adelaide and its coaches (Neil Craig excepted)
Craig 4-6
Sanderson 4-0
Pyke 4-1
Nicks 1-0
Camporeale 1-0
From 21 games Clarkson has won 14 with only Neil Craig having the better of him
The Result
I dont know. If it was in Adelaide I would tip Adelaide - if it was Melbourne I would hesitantly tip Adelaide but Launceston games give me chills and is the only reason I see Hawks by 26 points
