Crusin' home in the Corolla of Rock this evening, that refuge of cool in a world of lame, (PBS), informed lovers of all things quality that Urge Overkill are playing in town this week.

Excellent.

Some great stuff has been appearing of late in Basia.

I've been putting together my schedule of bands I want to catch at SXSW that's on next week in Texas and have found a few little known acts I'm really keen to check out. I thought I'd share them with you.

Pyschic Ills (if you like psychedelic this stuff will blow your mind)

Liked Icehouse/Flowers back in the day, mostly the first two albums, lost interest after that.... Anywho... I always liked the "feel" of this one and it's still one of my favourite songs.

Saw these guys support the Dirty Three last week. Interesting sound.

The Lemonheads have had many incarnations, I personally liked them most circa "Come on feel the Lemonheads"

Great lyrics in here.........

Over the three Basia threads both TOD and I have mentioned the now defunct but then legendary "RAZOR" club, which operated every Friday night from midnight.

I was rapt to open The Age yesterday to discover an article on it, by Neil McMahon.

My first car was a datto 120y. Embarrassingly shithouse car, not a bad band though.

Nice one mate. Haven't heard that for years.

Whilst on the subject of the great George Young, back to his phenomenal songwriting partnership with Harry Vanda, and performances with Stevie Wright and the sensational Easybeats!

Guns!

Pogues @ Festy Hall = Amazeballs!!!!

Not footy related I know, but I just got back from the gig, am off my **** on Boags draught and feel the need to share.

Possibly the best gig I've seen.

Oh boy.

Shane Macgowan for primeminister. or at least minister for arts.

Re: Pogues @ Festy Hall = Amazeballs!!!!

Saw Jack Ladder support Okkervil River at the East Brunswick club about 5-6 years ago and rememberd enjoying his one man show. Very Nick Cave like voice.

Anyhoo, a friend bought me a ticket to see him at the Grace Darling on Smith Street last week and f*** me if that isn't the biggest hipster cesspool on planet earth. So many c**** there just chatting through the show, checking each other out to see who has their pants rolled up the best and who can appear most disinterested in the music. I've been living on the other side of town for a while now and rarely venture North of the Yarra for social occasions but I don't remember Fitzroy being this bad. WTF happened in the last 12-18 months?

I would love to have gone to this one, but was concerned that the years of abuse had left Shane Macgowan a slack jawed, dribbling buffoon.

How was he? Could he sing? Could he stand upright?

Great music

The ocean rolls below me expanding plastic views
My vision cones to nearest land and brings me latest news
The waves of higher bodies soon dazzling in my ears
Will center my vibrations with the music of the spheres
