15. fanclubwallet - This Must Be The Place

fanclubwallet is Hannah Judge, a DIY home recording artist from Canada. Has a crack at the Talking Heads' 1983 song here. The only cover song in the countdown.

14. Laurel - Scream Drive Faster

British indie artist, electro 80s pop feel here.

13. KennyHoopla - Plastic Door

American singer, songwriter and rapper. Hails from Cleveland, Ohio. Wonder if he's a Browns fan? Released his debut album this year.

12. Derek Simpson - Hide + Seek

American multi-instrumentalist and producer from Massachusetts. Quiet, catchy tune.

11. L.A. Witch - Dark Horse

Garage rock trio from California

10. Lael Neale - For No One For Now

Quiet, contemplative pop that lingers.

9. Peel Dream Magazine - Pill

Fuzzed out droning shoegaze. Could have come out in the early 90s.

8. Run The Jewels feat. Pharrell Williams & Zack de la Rocha - JU$T

I don't listen to much modern hip hop at all but came across this.

7. Perfume Genius - On The Floor

Really interesting artist who sings about some difficult topics (check out the lyrics to an older song of his, Mr Peterson). This is a bit more dance-y than most of his pop stuff. Song kicks off about a minute into the video.

6. Tall Thief - A Place I Know

A dream pop, shoegaze-y solo artist from Cape Town, South Africa.

5. Corridor - Domino

Canadian indie rock band. This actually came out last year but I only just heard it so I'm counting it.

4. Gidge - The Cascades

Swedish electronic duo.

3. Fontaines D.C. - No

Irish post-punk band, probably the biggest 'name' in this countdown. Builds slowly.

2. Special Interest - Street Pulse Beat

Punk band from New Orleans. There's a pretty good remix done by Boy Harsher too.

1. Sault - Monsters

British collective who shun the spotlight. Very little interaction with the media. Play a variety of styles.

Post Ronny Van Sant plane crash. Still making great music.

You'll probably dig Van Zant....Donny and Johnny Van Zant's other band.

Donny was a member of another great Southern band 38 Special who you might like to check out too.

Yes definitely like a bit of 38 special. I’ll check em out.
I particularly like the songs that have the guitar solos that rock out at the end of the songs. Seems like a bit of a formula in that 70’,80’s southern country rock if that’s a genre.

Probably because I’m into metal/rock mostly, love those guitars.
