Pears goes under the knife

Emerging defender, Tayte Pears, has undergone a minor hip operation to ensure he is fully fit for the 2009 season.
“Tayte’s operation was only minor. It was more like a little clean out to ensure he is 100% going into next season,” Essendon football operations manager Paul Hamilton said.
“The surgeon was very happy with the result of the surgery.”
Pears’ training will be reduced over the next four weeks as a result of the operation.
“Tayte won’t be doing too much for the next four weeks and will work up his training load from there,” Hamilton said.
Pears had a similar operation on his other hip at the end of last season. He is expected to be fully fit for round one.

Ok im no surgeon but why didnt Tayte have this operation at seasons end? Or has it just occurred?

He had a hip problem this year, what moronic tosser waited until now to give him surgery?

Talk about jumping to conclusions.

He had already had hip surgery and was suffering from a bit of soreness after returning.

An MRI confirmed a small clean up was needed.

We have a history of this, I figured it'd happened again. But it seems not. As you were people.

I would have thought they would have been a series of checks post operation..not to mention taking his training slower than it has been.

Of course they did checks but it is his other hip and he probably has never had problems with it before.

Injuries happen and there isn't much you can do it about.

These hip injuries are starting to become more frequent in the AFL now.

Wheres all the optimists???

We will have an season with minimal injurie worries & scrape into the finals. Thats what Ive asked Santa for anyway. :D

Merry Xmas to all Bomber fans. :thumbsu:

If we have drafted another injury prone player I am going to shoot someone. I hope this operation turns out for the best though.

F--- Me it was a minor hip opperation.
Seriously your brain must be made out of squash. Two months ago you where all for drafting a kid who has had two knee reco's and now you are saying if we draft another injury prone player you will shoot someone.
I wish someone could give you a finger amputation.....

Haha. Oh how i needed that laugh.

some of these minor clean-up ops might be delayed to produce a better fitness level with time being taken off when they wouldn't be training with the team over xmas/new year anyway.

eg if the recovery time is 2 weeks then why have it done 2 weeks prior to the xmas/new year break? if done then when the player is ready to return from training the players are on holidays anyway.

by training for longer leading up to the break it will increase his fitness and given the players take about 2 weeks off from training over xmas/new year he won't be missing too many sessions anyway.
