AFL Toast R17: Tamed the Lions at the Gabba!

Plus our outs (Redman, Parish, Perkins as definite best 22).

Also, the booing from lions fans is bullshit. The free kick to Guelfi was 100% there.
If it was reversed and in Melbourne we'd be booing it too.

* you derp!

The Wright-Daniher cup is all ours!!

Yes they had players out, but we also had Wanganeen and Baldwin missing today!

Pretty funny to here people trying to diminish a win by a bottom 4 side travelling intoerstate to take a top 4 side on at their fortress.

Missing their general defenders definetly hurt them, but they had their whole midfield in and we smashed them there. They had their key forwards up against our undersized backmen.

Big up for Jake Kelly. Holding Cameron to 12 touches and 1 goal. If he can take that guy each week then he's a definite best 22 for mine and I'll be off his back for shizzle.

Okay they had players out and under equal circumstances they win but that is just where it is. They are regular top 4 we are trying to get there. It was a game we had to win to show some credibility despite them being somewhat handicapped.

Also BZT, two on the trot and is playing with so much confidence.
Was taking everyone on in the first half while trying to find an option by hand and then marking everything late.

Stays in rest of the year for mine

Not great letting Brisbane anywhere near pinching that win.
To be fair, the powers-that-be did their best to take the decision out of our hands.

Love the complaining from Lions fans on the main board about their outs. We play who we play, not our problem.

Another killer shift from Zerk. It's a loss without him.

Don't bother having a shower tonight Joe, 'cause you've had a bath.

Some of our ball use through the middle was a joy to watch. Even our handball chains had some intent more often than not.

Caldwell on Neale probably the difference, played really well!

BZT solid, as was Guelfi.

Langford showing why he is so important to our forward structure.

Shiel’s stoppage burst at his best today.

Far from a perfect game though. Draper’s slow and poor decision making cost us a few goals and Snelling just hasn’t been right since returning.

Really liked Langford's game. Also having accuracy in the forward with and Wright makes such a difference. Hobbs with another goal, between him and Martin and Perkins, seems like we have some goal kicking mids.

Is this the start of a defensive midfielder / "tagger" ?

Great win capping off a good month
It's the start of the month though.

Have said it again but we did not see HUGE numbers from our top 3 guys. Merret led us with 31 which isn't huge in comparison to todays numbers. Caldwell (27) and Shiel (26) other leaders in our midfield group. They were supported from that next tier who are becoming decent role players.

Guelfi (20), Durham (19), Langford (18) all very good stepping up in the absence of Parish.

Best oart was our core group continued to perform, the ones no one (outside Essendon) wants to rate. Hind (27), Ridley (26), Laverde 921), Zerk - Thatcher (21). McGrath (18) and the big boy Peter Wright (5 goals).

We can obviously get better, more output from Jones, improved effectiveness from Draper and Stringer gaining more consistency. Snelling will be better for the run also.

Overall, cannot be unhappy beating a side many tipping to make it past the second week of finals. Onto the next one now
