I think Bauer is a goner. No use wasting games on him. He certainly has some ability but some of the younger players appear to have more potential. I’m pretty certain he’s up for delisting.

Whose these vets soon to retire? Lynch? Prestia, McIntosh and Broad? Prestia played a blinder but the other 3 I wouldn't say are tearing the house down. Lynch is good to have around for the young forwards and if he stays fit you'd probably give him an extra season.
Nank is still only 30 has another 2 seasons atleast in him, Vlastuin is 31 has a few. Who else? Short? Not even playing and has been average anyway.
Are they trying to include Taranto & Hopper in that list? Those 2 players are 27/28 have many years left lol

I did, just I'm evaluating it as a rebuilding team. Sonsie and Kmac2 did worse than hoped, and the fact replacing Dow with Prestia made us look much better is a bad sign. So the game provided evidence all three of our young midfielders suck. The fact that TT, Hopper. Prestia and Nank did well is irrelevant, they've all played over 150 games, you don't get to claim the rebuild is going well by pointing to them.
Brown wasn't much sighted neither was Campbell, Green was wasteful, Faull still looks very unready, Mansell and Ross continue to demonstrate they've plateaued into C-grade players, Gray was beaten by Cadman and Trainor didn't look great on the wing (understandably given he's out of position). Smith was meh.
On the positives Sims was great, Banks continues to look better than Short in that role and HRS played a good game...
So yeah far more negatives than positives. This board has a bizarre attitude at the moment where so long as our veterans make us competitive it supposedly demonstrates our rebuild is going well. Either we're in a rebuild and judge performances based off the kids, or we're not in which case why are we sitting 3rd last on the ladder?
That pass from Faull that went over the head of green in the third quarter was simply horrific it may have been the nail in the gws coffin.

It was long in flight and green came towards it. Poor kick and a poor read of the ball. Was a golden opportunity too, but we had wasted plenty of set shots in similar places.
Listen I had to peel myself from the ceiling losing like that however , that first three Q I’d argue was best we played under ooze , we were relentless and asserted ourselves over the oppo in every key metric , we still have a way to go but are ahead of expectations, every 10 g these kids play , they step up , its evident
There were worse blues than that , green running into open goal was pretty woeful and I won’t mention the 5 or more set shots from 30 out we flunked

I’m watching Lynch pretty closely for the remainder of the season before I’d sign him on for another year. Hopefully he can work and improve on his mobility and stay fit. Easy decision if he can but if not there comes a point where you might want games into Jonty or Fawcett. Simms and Lefau would already be picked ahead. I guess they aren’t all fit at the same time but we do have a lot of forwards to rotate through. Doesn’t help that Lynch is kicking pretty poorly atm. Im interested what other people think, is Lynch a walk up start for 2026?

I’m trying to remember when Lynchs set shot kicking became so poor.
Most probably after the foot injury that kept him out for so long.
It’s really sub par now.

Regardless of performances, Lynch demonstrates leadership on and off the field. Therefore, I ask you: are we ready to replace him with another young player? We need experience on the field.
Yes - to the last question.
Very few AFL KPFs star in their second year. Look at the gargling of Caddy at the moment, and yet he’s averaging 1.3 goals a game. Old balls Lynch is averaging 1.5 after nearly 2 years out of the game.
Sims, Jonty and Harry can share the 2nd and 3rd KPF spots again next year (+ Lynch is unlikely to play 23 games). Lefau could potentially play as a 4th tall as both he and Armstrong are strong at defensive pressure.
I don’t know about Fawcett, looks uncoordinated and hasn’t shown a great deal yet in a good VFL team. I wouldn’t be surprised if we delisted him - he’s kicked 1 goal in the VFL this year.
