You’re argument is simplistic. Given his ability to be a potential FC or Test Cricketer over the next 5 years he absolutely deserves another go, I mean hasn’t Shaun Marsh been selected to play for Australia on numerous occasions after posting big Shield numbers? Why is Wade missing out because apparently by your logic he is ‘poo’?So why do you want them make the same mistakes again?
We've seen this movie before and Wade was poo.
The ICC gave all the associate teams T20I status starting this year as well, which will help the sport grow even more, as playing an international format will prevent the press from just writing them off as a bunch of eccentric hipsters. This is good news. So many of these associate and affiliate teams are made up of cricket hungry desis and a few British and Australian expats. The presence of the game in the immigrant community is not really a real indicator for the growth of the game in that particular country and unless you get the people who are native to that particular region interested in the sport, there's no real scope for the sport in that country.
In this case, it's refreshing to see the presence of so many young Serbian kids at junior levels taking up cricket, hopefully the penetration of the game increases in the country and we see an emergence of new cricketing nations like Serbia.
Referring to the CA XI. Not many are BBL regulars.Direct quote from Hohns, "We're also very mindful of the Big Bash that is going on and not disrupting the franchises by taking away too many of their players." What the actual f***???!! All that ails cricket at the moment surmised in a sentence.
Don't know why anyone would ever suggest playing Pucovski over Burns, that's just insane. Batting line up will most likely be:
Renshaw
Burns
Harris
Khawaja
Head
Labushagne
Paine
then 8 - 11 bowlers
Any combination of the top 3 really, although Harris looks like he has the technique to bat anywhere from 1 to 4.
There is more to picking players than looking at a SS stats sheet. And how exactly do these selectors get away with their jobs? Mark Waugh on Fox Cricket talking to Mark Howard during the SCG test stated that the best way to get into the National Team was to ‘Keep making runs’.
Introducing Wade, Patterson, Maxwell, Hughes. Not Head, Labuschagne or Pucovski.
Absolutely incompetent.
Sell it to me. Are these individuals nice young men who promote and facilitate a happy culture? What next? Whoever has the best morning tea recipe gets a baggy green? There is more to picking players than looking at a SS stats sheet.
Far out Burns and Pucovski are two of the most in form batsmen in the country. The only reach is Renshaw, who was in ripping form before the UAE and has made a pile of runs in England. I can see why he’s being persisted with. Some people just love to whinge. You’re argument is simplistic. Given his ability to be a potential FC or Test Cricketer over the next 5 years he

It’s not about making mistakes, it’s about backing players in who are in form now when CA is at its lowest ebb in a long time and the most logical explanation re selection is to pick form cricketers rather than left field calls like Labuschagne, Head and Pucovski.
Hohns arguments are pathetic. He isn’t picked because we don’t need a keeper / batsman? What’s Peter Handscomb? He was picked as a specialist batsman. Why not a guy averaging 63 currently in Shield cricket? Put a form top 5 in front of him in;
Burns
Harris
Khawaja
Patterson
Hughes / Maxwell
Then in England Smith pushes out anyone out of form between 4-6.
No mate, the message from the selectors forever and a day is ‘make runs and you’re in’, so since 2015 when Maxwell and Patterson have been plundering runs why of all a sudden is Pucovski who has played a handful of shield games selected in front of them?Far out Burns and Pucovski are two of the most in form batsmen in the country. I think you’ll find Hohns and Chappell have been a problem far longer than Langer and probably outrank him in the CA hierarchy. This is why the knee jerk reactions to Langer annoy me.Outs are good. Ins and the reasoning for overlooking Wade and Maxwell are absolute nonsense. Hohns appears to be as big a problem as G Chappell and Langer.

You want cricket to return to its previous heights? Maybe try enforcing standards that are high rather than knee jerk rewards for ‘diamonds in the rough’.Far out Burns and Pucovski are two of the most in form batsmen in the country. Guys like Hastings, Quiney and McGain had I'm pretty sure some of the best stats in the SS when they were given a BG. How did their Test careers go? There was also people that called it before hand that when they were picked that they would struggle badly to make the step up, screamed down of course by people that probably hardly watched them play at all that they were the best because of SS stats.Sell it to me. Are these individuals nice young men who promote and facilitate a happy culture? What next? Whoever has the best morning tea recipe gets a baggy green?
Right now all I’ve seen is a bunch of elite cricketers missing out because of a couple of selectors not being able to follow through on their word or sit in a press conference talking a diatribe of convolution characterised by top class cop outs.
Patterson has made one century in 2 and a half years hasn’t he? Pukovski has achieved more in 7 shield matches than almost everyone else has done in their careers. The only other batsman to show that sort of form is Harris this year.No mate, the message from the selectors forever and a day is ‘make runs and you’re in’, so since 2015 when Maxwell and Patterson have been plundering runs why of all a sudden is Pucovski who has played a handful of shield games selected in front of them?
I also never said Burns shouldn’t be in. As far as whingeing goes? How about actually delving into the issue rather than just calling people out as whingeing for voicing an opinion on an open forum.
Oh so now you’re peddling the Victorian bias line? How can you even use that argument when Marsh has constantly been selected averaging high shield numbers (who has constantly failed) and conclude Wade & Maxwell are done based on prior history? That’s it is it?Jesus Christ this is getting out of hand. Neither Maxwell or Wade could even manage to average above mid 20s when they were given a run in the Test side.
For the 1,000 time I would have had no problem if either were selected but I've never seen a couple of average cricketers aged over 30 hyped up so much. Mostly from fanboys from a certain part of the country of course.
How many tests did Quiney play? Hardly think he was given a chance. Same as Ferguson.Guys like Hastings, Quiney and McGain had I'm pretty sure some of the best stats in the SS when they were given a BG. How did their Test careers go? There was also people that called it before hand that when they were picked that they would struggle badly to make the step up, screamed down of course by people that probably hardly watched them play at all that they were the best because of SS stats.
Well he is averaging 47 this year so is still obviously making runs.Patterson has made one century in 2 and a half years hasn’t he? Pukovski has achieved more in 7 shield matches than almost everyone else has done in their careers. The only other batsman to show that sort of form is Harris this year.
You know, when people talk about the national team, no one gives a * about state bias. It's as though people from WA have some sort of brick sized chip on their shoulder. Pissed off that the Marsh brothers finally got axed, hopefully for good? Write to your local MP about it.Jesus Christ this is getting out of hand.
The Head that had more runs than all of the players you mentioned last season in the shield that had a higher average than all bar Maxwell when he made his test debut? That Travis Head? Who then went on to have a solid tour away from home? And how exactly do these selectors get away with their jobs? Mark Waugh on Fox Cricket talking to Mark Howard during the SCG test stated that the best way to get into the National Team was to ‘Keep making runs’.

National cricket has exposed his technique as being pretty average mate. The Head that had more runs than all of the players you mentioned last season in the shield that had a higher average than all bar Maxwell when he made his test debut? That Travis Head? Who then went on to have a solid tour away from home?
In fairness, Quiney and Ferguson were clearly not test level before they played test cricket and it showed pretty quickly. Quiney was picked as a batsman with a high score of 9 and two ducks, while Ferguson was a middle order batsman with a high of 3. 1 test was quite enough to see they weren't cut out for international cricket at the highest level. How many tests did Quiney play? Hardly think he was given a chance. Same as Ferguson.
