Glad Snelling is still in the team, he's got a big future.

There has to be some type of long term focus thingamajig going on here that Brad keeps preaching on about, right (e.g., Davey or Wanganeen playing in their preferred positions in the VFL over fringe positions in the AFL)

Despite what the club says, we really aren't that young.

If Ridley & Stringer weren't out from injuries/if we played them last week, we'd be older than Sydney. And if Buddy is a late out for Buller, they'll be older. This is the team that played in the GF last year.

We have 16 guys on the list that have played less than 5 games this year that are all 23 or under.

Our list might be young, but the team we put out each week isn't.
We are putting out one of the 4th youngest/inexperienced sides in the comp at the moment already and have for much of the year

Or that finals are still a very relaistic chance especially if we win this?

Its a far far different game to 30 years ago

But agree if a young deserves a spot as theyre best 22 then yes you pick them

Nah this is just a bad take based on flawed conventional wisdom

Conventional wisdom: young teams don’t win

Truth: draft means best players go to bad teams, it’s this lack of competence keeping young players on bad teams making them ineffective

Some young players are good enough to keep playing

you wanna sell an AA mid for a raffle ticket but you're worried about losing a rookie swingman with two knee recos under his belt?

To be fair to eth-dog I don't think he has ever wanted to turf Parish out for nothing/very little.

Just that if the compensation was decent, it's worth exploring due to balance in the side.

As for Baldwin, it feels weird we have a kid holding down a key defensive post and who looks the goods and we have most of our young talls with really shaky injury history stopping them from even getting on the park, and we don't seem to be trying too hard to keep Baldwin, to the point we have moved him out of the position he has been performing in, to try and make the Weid project work.

Experience and Age is one of the best correlations to success

30 years ago we played kids with talent- pretty special year
if kids have vfl form and there is an afl opportunity they should play
30 years ago the kids where Fletcher / Hird / Misiti / Mecuri but the side also contained a lot of experienced players like Harvey / Watson / Salmon / O'Donnell / Bewick / Denham and a super star in Wanganeen. Little bit different to now.
