Can someone set up a poll asking:
Do Coaches Make Teams Or Do Teams Make Coaches?
Helen!
Your new avatar + name reminds me of this classic toy range... (for the older folk on here...)

2010
16th 6 wins, 1st win Rd 10, Ranked Avgs - Disp 338 16th, Goals 11.2 16th, Tackles 64.9 12th.

We weren't a basket case in 2009, we had a worse year than 2008, the back end of 2009 we were terrible because Jake played kids.
The players that Hardwick had left made up the bulk of our teams from then on and still do, but less on them.

We didn't have a s**t list in 2009, but in 2010, we had s**t teams for most of the year due to pumping games into kids with potential, most of whom didn't make it.
His win / loss ratio is his doing, because he consistently doesn't play the best team, based on merit, starting in 2010 and up to now.

Carlton have gone the same way this year.
Do you really think that Carlton in 6 years time, with a similar track record to our last 6 years will say good job Bolton, here is another 2 years?

Surprised this hasn't been covered on the club's website.

Damien Hardwick last week against Carlton equalled his own personal win/loss ratio as Tigers head coach. Tonight marks his first chance at having a positive win/loss record for the first time in his career. He'll be our first coach since Jeff Gieschen from 1997-1999 to have a positive win/loss record.

He's also coached Richmond the 3rd most amount of VFL/AFL games.

1. Tom Hafey (1966-1976) 248
2. Jack Dyer (1941-1952) 226
3. Damien Hardwick (2010-) 135*
4. Percy Bentley (1934-1940) 133
5. Frank Hughes (1927-1932) 120

Terry Wallace 2004-2009
Won 37
Lost 60
Drawn 2
= 36%

Danny Frawley 2000-2004
Won 45
Lost 68
= 40%

Damien Hardwick

2010
Won 6 Lost 16 (27%)

2011
Won 8 Lost 13 Draw 1 (36%)

2012
Won 10 Lost 11 Draw 1 (45%)

2013
Won 15 Lost 8 (65%)

2014
Won 12 Lost 11 (52%)

2015
Won 15 Lost 8 (65%)

2016
Won 1 Lost 0 (100%)

TOTAL
Won 67
Lost 67
Draw 2

Out of 38 senior coaches, he's ranked 5th for most wins ever.

Good luck to the club tonight:thumbsu:

only one in top 5 who is not a premiership coach

Now you've jinxed it. :(

Just an fyi - Dyer's games coached has been altered to 222, after recent research uncovered he had been credited with 4 games that should have gone to Dick Harris

Did the accountant put us in the red? Looks like he needs to Balance the books again. For all those people calling me a flog and getting ahead of yourselves well just like DH you need to do your homework a bit better. We are a bottom 8 side smell the roses
Here's a last thought from Peg and Ben
Stability in Mediocrity
or in Latin.....
"Stabilitatem Mediocres"
Is our new motto bc we refuse to grow and learn from three decades of mediocrity

You are still a flog

You are still a flog
Wouldn't ever lower myself to call anybody that not even Buckley.
Just shows how different we are and thank God for it.
Now go to bed and sleep tight and hopefully your DH dreams will come true by morning time
Now let's guess you're anywhere between 18-25 yo

You're probably right but we can't sack him unless he actually underachieves, we can't just sack him for nothing. That's what got us in this mess in the 80s

Forget the 80 s as those failings were from the incompetent boards not coach sackings . You reckon keeping Patterson KB etc on they would have morphed into a Sheedy?
Our failings now is strictly FD as we still are recognising the same player type in retreads When recruiting compiled with our first round picks , but it's not enough as you will never haver a list with 25 -30 goers on it unless you can bring in 3-4 blokes a year
DH is living on the famous 7 of TW era plus Dusty Maric miles and a few kids nearly all his trades and FA have backfired. This is why we will decline bc other teams ( not all) have FD spend wisely investing time in looking at needs. We have too many gaps that have been left unnoticed or neglected now DH is also facing the ageing of AMaric and lids so he's losing his insurance players
We wouldn't be sacking him for nothing. We would be replacing him bc he cannot advanCe us any further . This is why the extension was wrong as it was based on stability not future growth . Would you think 75000 people wiuld invest in a bank or shares or a finance co if no growth had taken Place in three years ?
It's strictly a business deal based on where we are now and where we will be tomorrow .His results are really unsatisfactory as again we still come up with poor leadership , undisciplined , terribly skilled players ,sub VFL players getting gigs , poor FD etc etc issues six yrs later
Now we have actually regressed to about 2011-12 standard
Injuries don't help , but losing to Collingwood (depleted also) and falling passed CFC last week shows we are no world beaters and are at risk of not making the 8 which hardly indicates stability to me.

GWS & GC draft gimmies during our rebuild is what screwed us. The extension reflects that we are still a way from success. Dimma is still plugging holes whilst we continue to build. @##4 knows where the ruck is going to come from.

Yep he has done a good job plugging holes for 6 years, and the plugged holes need plugging again.
Or he can stop putting holes in the boat, and get the players to play to a game plan, which suits their strengths, that doesn't confuse them, that they like, that new players can learn quickly, that actually works.
