Disappointing loss to a dud team. The Saints are a little unlucky with injuries during the game just like Freo. Surely their midfield needs urgent bolstering. Steele is an out and out A grader but lacks support.

He isn’t an A grader. He is a good honest workhorse that sets a standard. He is definitely not an A grader. The Saints have none.

Disagree. He certainly has more claims as an A grader than others, inc guys like Weitering.

Agree otherwise about the Saints list. Marshall and King might get there.

and how would you class carltons luck , being without a ruckman for 3 quarters after dekonening went off after quarter time
Saints should have dominated the clearance battle

I get that St Kilda has a boatload of injuries, I really do. But their bipolar nature and ability to look good one game/quarter and absolute shizen the next is a seriously glaring issue. Even with their depth being challenged some of the things we have seen this year shouldn't be happening.

No contanuity from the start of the season. Had 2 starting 22 out for the season by round 2. There injury list has been enormous all year. They’ve probably had to set and reujustice structures countless times.

I really don't understand why people respond like that when it's highlighted that a team has injuries, or had bad luck or something

It doesn't change the fact that St.Kilda has had a horror injury run all season, and have been stiff during games.

It certainly doesn't change the result last night, and any speculation that it impacted thr outcome is exactly that - speculation.

Having saig that, It was simply extraordinary wasn't it. Silvagni basically rucking all night against two specialist (albeit 2nd and 3rd tier) ruckmen - and Carlton smashing St.Kilda in clearamces and dominating through the midfield!!

It was bizarre.

Silvagni was excellent - but man you've got to really scratch your head at how utterly atrocious St.Kilda are with their decision making and footskills.

Steele is A Grade
Marshall is A Grade

Marshall is nowhere near A grade material at this stage (think he will get there)

To be fair to St Kilda, they have been decimated badly with injury, Gresham was the one player on their list after Steele they could least afford to lose to a long term injury.

If they get a much better run with injuries next year, they should be okay.

They need to look for a quality ruckman in the trade period though, not sure how much footy Paddy Ryder has in him.

We got a young ruckman Max Heath in the mid season draft who looks promising, we also got Sharman in that draft who came on as the sub last night and looked good kicking a couple of goals.

One positive from losing last night is we will get better draft picks and there are rumours that Ben King is interested in moving to St Kilda to join his brother, with him and Max in our forward line we will be top 4 material.
