Mainly here so we can enjoy the LOLs afterwards at the end of 2023, but also an interesting discussion point.

I’m in genuine two minds and can’t call it, but who do you see finishing higher in 2023?

Who is positioned better from a list/team perspective?

Let the games begin…

Thank you.

I don't see why it's so confusing for them?

Just finish top after the home and away rounds, and win the flag, then there's no debate to be had...
If you finish 3rd you get to play in a Qualifying Final for the chance to get a week off before playing to make the GF.

If you finish 5th you are in an elimination final.

It really aint hard.

No idea why the Baggers think there is another ladder done post finals. If there is why havent they shared it?

Answer me this Einstein- 4 sides played in the preliminary finals in 2023. What were the losers finishing position after that game ?
Or...... if for instance GWS beat Collingwood to qualify for the grand final, what would their position be if they had lost that grand final ?

GWS finished 6th and were beaten prelimary finalists.

GWS would have finished 6th and been 2023 runner-up.

It really aint hard.

Nobody combines finals wins and losses to the H&A ladder to create a new ladder that decides GWS were 5th or 4th.

Yet the AFL finalises ladder positions after the season has been completed

The AFL readjust the finishing order once the finals have been completed.
There was a year where Essendon won both the wooden spoon and the premiership in the same year, the premiership stood, and the spoon was not counted.
Are you suggesting that the bulldogs finished 7th on the ladder in 2016 and recognised as such , or are they recognised as the premiers ?

Absolute made up nonsense.

The H&A ladder IS the ladder.

They dont create a new one after finals, they just award the premiership.

It was actually Fitzroy who claimed the premiership and the wooden-spoon in the same season, 1916, during the First World War.

Because there were only 4 teams playig, they drummed up a minor wooden spoon and major wooden spoon.

However, finals have never, before or since, changed the 'winner' of the wooden spoon, so it is also fair to say that Fitzroy managed the astounding feat of winning both the premiership and the wooden spoon in the same season.

Of course they finished 7th on the ladder, that is where they finished.

They are the only team to win the premiership from 7th.

Carlton finished 5th in 2023.

There’s no doubt the pies are very well run and coached with the most elite fitness, despite not being tall at either end they are very resolute down back and quick up forward. They can definitely defend their flag
