Mainly here so we can enjoy the LOLs afterwards at the end of 2023, but also an interesting discussion point.

I’m in genuine two minds and can’t call it, but who do you see finishing higher in 2023?

Who is positioned better from a list/team perspective?

Let the games begin…

Average of a Grand Final appearance every 3 years.

That's a lot if games of football won, and not many spoons and bottom 4 finishes.

Carlton have 'won' more than twice as many spoons since the turn of the century than Collingwood have in their history.

I might look into how many bottom 4 finishes Collingwood have had in their history... than would be an interesting analysis...
Be careful. I'm pretty sure pre 2000, Carlton hadn't finished any lower than 10th in their history. I'm sure you will find that stat amongst your abacus

Another Carlton fan talking about last century...rinse and repeat.

Newsflash, we are into our 24th season of the 21st century.

We all know that Carlton are yet to manage a top4 finish in the 21st century, so understand why Baggers continue to look backwards...perhaps start a thread on the Carlton board where crusty Baggers can tell stories about how good Jezza was and what it was like to support a team who wasnt an easy beat most years.
We understand you have a cut off point to suit your findings.

As soon as the salary cap came in the Blues tried to rort it. And when they got caught they spiralled out of control. Blues bought premierships in the 80s and 90s which is just blatant cheating. They cannot do anything when the playing field was evened. So when Blues supporters go on about last century it seems they just go on about rorting the system.
Thats the thing, it actually wasn't cheating . It was open slather and Collingwood couldn't compete with us . It was like the English premier league is today.
We went and got the best players and it pissed everyone off. Cheating - no. I've never heard anyone say that pre salary cap

it was cheating when the salary cap came in. You totally ignored it and then once you got fined you had no idea what to do. Not only on field incompetence, off field as well.

Correct, the Blues heavily resisted the sal cap and draft, signed up a bunch of interstate players minutes before the deadline, cheated the cap and have mostly struggled with a level playing field ever since, a master-class in dinosaur thinking and inept management

And its 2024. Collingwoods management has been inept at times as well in the past. Get over it.

How is the 24th season of this century going so far mate? Looks like Pies sit at 10th on the ladder, only eight teams below you.
Season 2024 tracking along just fine.

Pies will be in the top8 after a slow start and are building into the season nicely whilst also getting games into squad players.

And already had the standard win against Carlton.

Tis the opposite.

Go in full totality Collingwood are better, flags, wins, finals everything.

Go last year, Collingwood are better.

Go 2024, Collingwood beat Carlton again already.

But yeah, Carlton fans keep posting about a good patch they had 50 years ago...Rinse and repeat.

No such thing as a silver medal.

What GF strike rate do you think most would pick here? 55% or 36%
If both teams are on 16 Premierships, a 36% Grand Final strike rate means a significant amount more games won in the non premiership years.

So any logical person would have Collingwood's performances since the beginning of time, over Carlton's....

Unless you would prefer your team to win a spoon, than lose a Grand Final, for example.
