Gave up 100 points both games, new defensive strategies going to take a while to settle in esp with Hooker missing, otherwise meh, bring on the real stuff. Not concerned at all.

Our coaches need to learn that when we run a defensive game plan we actually leak more. We can only defend by attacking.

A bit of a weird game; not fussed about losing so much as the real lack of cohesion we appeared to have.

Defensive structure looks shaky, inside 50 entries were quite poor, and we struggled to get much in the way of actual clean clearances.

We rolled a lot of players through the middle so hard to pick out any single person.

Thought Hurley looked rusty still down back, and with Hooker out we really need the dominant AA Hurley to straighten us up through there.

Daniher looked like he was given license to really lead hard and jump at the ball, he looks like he’s got that spring back which is promising.

Thought Ridley, Tipungwuti and Stringer all look ready to go, Shiel and Merritt didn’t get out of 3rd gear but they’ll be ok, and Fantasia will be better for the run.

I really have no idea where we’re at for Round 1.

What are your thoughts on the JLT?
Didn't watch a minute of either game to be honest. It's certainly disappointing to not be looking in great nick but there are enough examples of results in the pre-season being a red herring (in either direction) that I'm not too fussed really.

Fair enough, basically I'd seen alot of signs of the first 6 games last year, but you're right could go any direction from here.

And while on Roos, yes, he's a premiership coach, but the game I just watched was of a better standard than that grand final.
and while we are on Roos, why does he keep acting as if he's the first person to recognise Shiel as a genuine superstar? He kept saying that Shiel was overshadowed at GWS but can now come into his own. He was my favourite player at GWS, he's been great for a while - in a team of superstars.

Will be interesting to see what the line up for round 1 is.

I wouldn’t have Ambrose, Brown, Guelfi and probably Parish.

Yep Ambrose was poor, Parish mehh but thought Guelfi and Brown were OK. I’d say Ambrose, Ham and Draper are definitely out, Baguley was poor also. Hartley and Laverde should come in - McKernan a chance also - but not sure who the selection committee will pick round 1 very difficult task I reckon

go easy on him mate- it’s only the preseason.

I feel that our good form in the latter half of last year was due to massively stepping up our pressure. Don't think we put too much of an emphasis on pressure for both JLT games but hopefully we'll switch it back on for round 1 and look like a different team.

Plenty of good signs from players like Ridley, Francis, Shiel, Tippa, Stringer and Joey able to take some good leaps.

And no serious injuries = successful preseason.

Does this mean we’ve got no chance of winning the Ansett Cup now? I’m pretty sure we only win premierships after firstly winning the preseason comp. Ah well, there’s always next year.
We're still in with a shot at the Escort Cup though.

And you look at how Stringer, Francis, Tippa and Joey started off last season, for a variety of reasons. Hooker is a slight concern though, obviously.

Off those four Brown would miss for Smack, meanwhile both Ambrose and Guelfi were disappointing, not so concerned with Parish, okay he isn't an A grade but I'm not getting the hate at this stage.

Smith only had 4 tackles, he had only 1 at halftime. Last week was 50% and tonight was 75%. At times we snapped out of it and went hard but still think we gimped the game. The younger players cant help themselves at times and go like a cut snake.

It's a good time to put some money on the lads I think.

My only genuine concern is Joey!

Ok, so we've got a new running style this year....
We're going to copy Richmond style this year....

Well we've got 17 days to get it going. Better get going......now!!!
