Mate, I can’t remember most posts, they get posted and I move on.

I actually have a life away from all of this, I seriously doubt you do.
You are so full of it. This isn’t just remembering the contents of a post, this is whether you are going to reply to someone’s posts. Now you can remember not responding to me, does that mean you don’t have a life?

It's probably more a reflection that labour is just liberal-lite and there's no substantial difference. Or Liberal is just labour-lite.

Either way really.
We are a right leaning country.

Which is why is a bit funny when people go on about lefties.

Greens are as left as you get here and they ain't that left.

Why is Scott Morrison so scared of an Independent Commission of Enquiry into Corruption? What could he possibly have to lose?

Here in SA the vote to strip our ICAC of virtually all power was a unanimous vote across both sides of Parrliament .

No politician wants it.

I don't think my personal understanding of left and right has much to do with where the anonymous person who created the graph placed the ALP and LNP on the graph
How do we know? They run a website dedicated to doing plotting like that on a global scale.

Your just a big footy poster who thinks you know better.

Hard to tell who is right or wrong.

This sounds fairly good, independent, quite strong prosecuting powers.
  • have broad jurisdiction to investigate Commonwealth ministers, public servants, statutory office holders, government agencies, parliamentarians, and personal staff of politicians;
  • carry out its functions independently of government, with discretion to commence inquiries into serious and systemic corruption on its own initiative or in response to referrals, including from whistleblowers and complaints from the public. To ensure the Commission’s independence, the Commissioner and any Deputy Commissioner would serve for a single fixed term and have security of tenure comparable to that of a federal judge;
  • be overseen by a statutory bipartisan Joint Standing Committee of the Parliament, empowered to require the Commission to provide information about its work. To ensure bipartisan support for the Commission’s work, that Committee would be responsible for confirming the Commissioners nominated by the Government;
  • have the power to investigate allegations of serious and systemic corruption that occurred before or after its establishment;
  • have the power to hold public hearings where the Commission determines it is in the public interest to do so;
  • be empowered to make findings of fact, including a finding of corrupt conduct, but not to make determinations of criminal liability. Findings that could constitute criminal conduct would be referred to the Australian Federal Police or the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions for further consideration; and
  • operate with procedural fairness and its findings would be subject to judicial review.

Scott Morrison has attacked Labor’s projected $7.4bn deficits, warning voters cannot “risk Labor” when they go to the polls.
He said the Coalition’s plan would save $1bn over the forwards, and Labor’s plan would drive up inflation and put upward pressure on interest rates.
“What we have always seen from the Labor Party is when they can’t manage money, they come after yours in higher taxes,” Mr Morrison said. “That is the risk of Labor.
“On this Saturday, you can vote for the Liberals and Nationals, you can vote for them to ensure that you can secure the opportunities that we have ahead with strong economic management or a strong economic land, and you can vote for the Liberals and Nationals this Saturday and avoid that risk of Labor.”
Earlier, Labor leader Anthony Albanese released his election costings, which reveal it would add $7.4bn to the deficit, or $8.4bn greater than the Coalition.

Earlier he made an embarrassing blunder claiming Australia’s ‘borders are closed’ – months after they reopened.

It comes as he made the curious decision to ditch his media pack and long-awaited costings announcement today before later backflipping and keeping the reporters travelling with him to Brisbane for the crucial final 48 hours of campaigning.

Crisis-plagued triple-0 service to be overhauled and rebranded

A couple was left to watch their unresponsive baby turn grey after their triple-0 calls went unanswered. It’s among the many failures that sparked an overhaul of the embattled service.

The state’s embattled emergency call-taking service will be overhauled and rebranded to become ‘Triple Zero Victoria’ following a landmark report into why the current system was failing the community.
The report, written by former top cop Graham Ashton, detailed how the Emergency Services and Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) has battled to keep up with the modern - and increasing - demands from Victorians.

“Over its short history the number of times when the system has failed continues to grow, often with dire outcomes,” it said.

Despite the report being handed to government in March, it was only made public on Thursday afternoon – two days before the federal election.

It revealed the state’s emergency service organisations (ESOs) – police, firefighters and paramedics – have for years been frustrated and concerned with ESTA’s capability and service delivery, including the “ever-growing” computer aided dispatch system change requests, “to the point where significant delays continue to occur”.
One emergency service department reported having to wait over 10 years for a change they requested to be implemented.

“All ESOs had the view that they were a customer of ESTA and that as a customer were not receiving the level of service for which they were paying via the annual fees to ESTA,” the report stated.

“The range of concerns were considerable and generally stem from a view that ESTA does not move to address issues with sufficient speed … and that communication with ESTA was difficult and often ineffective.”

It warned the service was being operated with the mentality of a call centre rather than as an emergency management service.

The damning review also found ESTA was unable to meet surge demand during significant storm events in 2021 and throughout peak periods in the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Although the latter event is considered unprecedented, these are the types of surge events where ESTA’s aggregated model should have delivered an exceptional and co-

So ACA having another crack at Albo for not showing up for an interview. Now of course some will dismiss it as it’s only ACA but more would watch it than the National Press Club. So his campaign team must think he’d do more damage by appearing than being ridiculed for not showing up.

Renaming a problem doesn't fix the problem!

Need to address the major issues with real action.

Hospital ramping has increased in all jurisdictions (SA is one of the worst), which basically means the paramedics & their ambulances are spending significant times waiting outside of hospitals for admission... rather than dealing with other patients in need.

Increasing the number of paramedics & ambulances is not the best solution. Increasing hospital capacity is the best solution - bed capacity, including ED/MH short stay more than ED capacity... as ED's are full usually because of a shortage of beds to admit patients.

Biggest shortage is in mental health... patients with psychiatric issues on average are in ED for 8 hours 2x the maximum 4 hour period for which ED patients should be treated by.

Simple solutions like increasing hospital in the home programs would free up back of house beds... which gets patients through ED quicker... which gets ramped patients in ED earlier... which gets paramedics to callouts quicker.

It needs a system wide solution.

Election fatigue for most if not all set in 2 or 3 weeks ago. It got me thinking, do we really need a a 6 week election period. The reason 6 weeks exists is because the PM calls an election when they want and the 6 week time frame allowed the politicians to travel around Australia for interviews with local papers and radio/tv local news, all in the days before national communication technology and the 24/7 news cycle. a 2 week cycle is enough.

Yes, the ratings blockbuster known as ACA (603k ratings) - no-one who actually reports the news (press pack) actually cares he isn’t turning up to ACA however not fronting the press pack at the National Press Club does get noticed by those that report the news - the press pack.

Don’t think you understand the difference (colour me surprised).

So 603k households saw Albo being called out twice this week, didn’t realise it was that much, cool.

It’s hardly raised a mention he hasn’t fronted the National Press Club.

So why wouldn’t Albo have taken the opportunity to speak to 603k households and over 1M voters?
