*Bump to get back on front page*

As we are coming from so far back here after the PSD and GC rookie concessions it is really pot luck as to who is going to be available come our first pick in the rookie. In all likelihood players like Panos, Dare, Grimes, Carey, Barlow and Sewell and maybe even Temel are most likely going to be gone by the time we come into it. So I'm actually hoping for the following who I think may still be there when we get involved:

Jack Weston at pick 19 and a KPD out of Hartigan or Tighe at 35.

Weston sounds good to me at 19 (will he get that far) and likens himself to Andrew Mackie on his draftee profile (like that too). He is a good size at 189cm and 88kgs and is listed as being quick, agile and having fine skills. Burgan says he is "a versatile utility that can play down back, fwd and in the midfield. He is very good one-on-one and has pace to burn". He also says that we were looking very closely at him as a 17yo in last years draft so it wouldn't surprise if he was still on our radar.

Hartigan is a good height at 194cm and 89kgs. Looking at his photo on the AFL site he already seems to have a very strong looking physique. AFL site says "He is a hard working key defender who sets himself the task of beating his opponent and rarely losses (I like that). Great speed for his size, and body strength are his weapons. AIS-AFL Academy graduate. His level 14.5 beep test at Victorian screen was outstanding for a tall. Vic Metro U18 representative in 2009". Not sure about his player comparison in Craig Bolton (don't really rate him) but someone on here likened him to a young Brian Lake with his strength in the one on ones. Sign me up to a Brian Lake clone thanks!

Tighe is a very mobile KP prospect who is good in the air and at ground level; he also won the Jets B&F this year and was selected at CHB in the TAC team of the year. At 197cm he is a great height and has pinch hit in the ruck in the TAC he also avearged 19 possessions a game over 17 TAC games. Those are great numbers for a defender. He likens himself to Drew Petrie (could do with a player like that) and loves the one on one contests. Someone on here said they watched Tighe one day this year and thought he was very raw and looked a long way off making it in the big league. He must have just been having a shocker that day as he can't have been all bad to win the B&F. I know that these write ups always build these kids up but he sounds exactly like the type we need IMO and a great rookie type pick.

I know we have been linked to Weston but not sure about Hartigan and Tighe? Hine will probably pull out some smokey's that none of us have heard of anyway.
In Hine we trust.

im hoping for someone whose name refers to mens sexual organs

there has to more out there

agreed, i think theres Kelvin Fatt, Danny Dickcheese and Fred Enormous.

at the moment though im interested in Luke Ball being given number 18 by Paul Licuria and the headline "Ball-Licca"

My current preferences as far as KPPs who I think might be available 25 picks in are;

Donaldson (193cm) -> Mackenzie (192) -> Tighe (197) -> Hartigan (194) -> Thompson (192) -> Stopp (192)

My feeling is that the first three might have more upside than the latter three.

Not really interested in Weston to be honest. How we could possibly continue to consider tall versatile half back flankers is beyond me.

No one under 193 for mine.

I concur. If he's still available at #35 and is best available, fire away, but frankly I'd rather we took the "uzi" approach to key talls in this rookie draft. As far as quick project mids go we've already got Rounds/Sinclair/Thomas/Blair/Francis ahead of anyone selected on December 15th.

Agree we have Plenty of Project Mids - We should get some Project KPP.

We also have 2 Project Rucks in Keeffe and McNamra:thumbsu:

i dont think panos will be around to our pick so i really hope chris luff falls to pick 16 he sounds like a promising full back in the making, if not i would like us to get kyle hartigan or brock mccauley. robbie hicks is another i would like to pick up

How many picks do we have in the rookie draft I'm assuming it is three as we delisted three rookies. But do we have to use them all not exactly sure how it works.

we have 3, but we are required to use our last on Shae McNarmara

Yes please, small forward, #35 come on down :thumbsu:

Don't think this is right, Opti.

Macnamara is an international rookie and sits outside the rookie list.

We need to use the third on Scott Reed, as NSW rookies can only spend one year outside the rookie list, and then must be put on the rookie list (or senior list) or delisted.

^ I think Josh Donaldson should be our guy after initially overlooking him as he was listed as a ruckman. He looks like the reincarnation of Dustin Fletcher!

Seriously though, here's his Inside Footy draft profile;

Joshua DONALDSON - Ruckman, West Perth, WA
DOB: 4/5/91 Ht: 193 Wt: 85kg

"In my opinion Josh was a standout at the state U18's. He went up against guys who were taller and bigger and he just out-thought them and outplayed them - easily the best form in the country when it comes to the state competition which was a good effort because WA didn't have many talls. He has an athletic body which will really develop with AFL conditioning, is a fast mover - ran a 2.96 for 20m - and is a good reader of the play. One of his great ups is that he's a real competitor. Can play forward and back." - West Perth Colts coach Wayne Orsi.

WA representative 2009. From Ocean Ridge JFC.

It's worth noting he was also in the top 8% for running vertical jump (74cm) and top 20% for agility (8.22s) at Draft Camp. That's excellent for a big bloke. He also cites his long reach as a similarity between himself and Fletcher, and reach advantage is very handy for a potential backman. :thumbsu:

Sounds like an Intresting Type. Heard anything from the Pies Yet Snoop about the Rookie Draft?

Donaldson does look like a Dustin Fletcher clone doesn't he. Wouldn't be the worst pick although I think he may be on the radar of a few clubs in need of KPD and may be gone before our first rookie pick.

Although he has Presti like numbers in the stats listed on his profile. 5 games for WA in the champs this year for an average 6 disposals and only 8 hitouts as a ruckman. Not overly impressive.

Any WA followers seen this guy play? What is he like?

Snoops Pies Rookie Picks:
COLLINGWOOD (Snoop Dog)

18 Serhat Temel (Calder Cannons)194cm / 89kg
I was a little surprised he didn’t go but was getting told he was going to be a rookie if anything in the last few days. Would be amazed if this kid isn’t given a crack – his late season form would have had him a certain Metro player. Big fwd who is probably best suited to FF but could go CHF if he improved his speed off the mark and endurance. Was tried down back this year with the Cannons and had no impact and was then transitioned fwd where he took off. Got better and better as season progressed and finished with a really good finals series and GF. Massive set of hands and a really good contested grab. Kicking is a feature and could be a player of real promise. The knock for me on him is that he didn’t play on a lot of big bodies at TAC this year and I wonder how he will go against bigger bodies. Be interested in his 20m sprint #s because they may tell the tale of whether a club takes him or not.
34 Sean Tighe (Western Jets)
197 / 90
Tighe was appreantly in the mix late in the draft with the Lions who ultimately went with MacGuire instead. Was part of the Metro squad only to be cut….be forgiven for having a few ordinary weeks but instead turned out for the Jets the next week and had 35 touches and kicked 3 goals. Won the Western Jets B&F principally playing as a CHB but also has the ability to play other positions in the spine as well as the ruck. Ruck in fact could be an area he develops well into given he is very athletic, can take a grab, has a good leap on him and uses the footy pretty well. I like him and I would hope of all the potential tall backs we give this kid a shot.
46 Shae McNamara (USA)
All the Pies supporters know plenty about Shae so wont go into detail on him. Obviously the kid has talent and Hine and Co. know expedentially more about him than me but I have to say its a bit of a mystery to me that we commit to a kid like Shae before we know who is in the rookie pool. For mine there are some terrific young rucks available like Hannath and Fewster. I am real fan of Fewster. He has got tremedous agility, beaut skills and plays a little like Cox in so much as he can be a link player which is invaluable. I saw Foj1 picked him up so refer to him for the write up but I would probably have preferred Fewster over McNamara............but I aint the expert so all the best Shae

Well your looking for something to work with when you draft in the rookie and those SS times are damn impressive. In fact based on those i'm surprised someone didn't chance him in the draft as the players that test well are often picked up. It must be his numbers like Tails mentioned that let him down but who nows what can happen once he gets into a professinal development system - if we have the raw talent to work with. Can anyone in the know tell us how his skills are??

^ He recorded those at Draft Camp, supposedly, which means at least a few teams were interested enough in him to want to see him tested. Doesn't bode so well for us with pick #19... but you never know. :(
