Autopsy 8 point win vs North

Jai out, Harry in and Roberts takes the low TOG/fifth on the bench role. Sheldrick and Cootee get a full run so thats definitely a different structure- maybe matchups?, perhaps just Roberts turn.

Yep my thoughts. I feel like we have 1 style of play where as Brisbane has 3 different modes they can play in any given match.
We did have a chip mark style game based on elite kicking a little while back. Hoping we try this out alongside the contested style we showed v Hold Coast as the season wears on.

In 2024, it was one brilliant quarter led by the mids, feels we have more consistency and depth this year.

Bring on the Pies !

Couldn't hear the questions well in the Cox presser. heard him mention Curnow and Serong should be ok for next week. Was he specifically asked about McCartin as well?

I watch North and see how they are building nicely after languishing near the bottom and start feeling a bit for them but then Im reminded about their supporters and the rabid way they blame everything on the AFLs pet. F them.

We Played terrible today but Parker turned back the clock in the last quarter and did his kick to the opposition thing like when he was with us. Still a blood. Seriously he has been great and good on him but grateful that a few key moments he blew them.

Thank goodness for early accuracy. We are heading for a loss in the way we are playing. Handballs g to the next guy dont work when they have a guy right behind them. Glaring errors on that. Hope we can fix it without a wake up call.

Good to bank these wins though

Today emphasised that it really is a long season. Sure, we were coming off a 6 day break but most the guys looked buggered, even though it's only 9 games in.

I wonder whether our style is particularly taxing?

That style of running would be, but I think it's more likely we are doing a mini preseason currently or a training load.

Most teams have them a few times in the season as you try and ensure you get a peak towards finals (reason why nearly all teams have highs and lows).

We will probably have 1-2 more hard weeks on the track before an ease off, then do something similar about 8 weeks before finals.

Overall not concerned with today's match.

North were up and about for that one, we were a few percent off and missing Curnow, McCartin, Gulden, Serong and Campbell (who I think will be a big part of the team later in the year).

You bank the wins and if you had offered us to be 8-1 at the start of the season I would have taken it without second thought.

People love being hindsight warriors, a wins a win at the end of the day.

Some performances were under par from expectations but we found a way to get the job done

I felt like all three areas of the ground were kinda dysfunctional for us but the thing about having a stacked team is that you can still have a few winners on each line and that can make a huge difference. McDonald and McLean ahead of the ball, Rampe and Edwards behind the ball, all did their roles really well and individually helped to compensate for how the whole wasn't quite working.

The mids were the only area I don't think we had a single winner all day. Heeney maybe.
Heeney "maybe" ?

2nd most tackles of anyone on the ground and equal highest goal scorer on the ground to go with his 24 possessions.

You're a harsh marker

That is very fair.

Whilst watching I felt like his impact was mostly in general play and up forward, as opposed to the likes of Davies-Uniacke, Wardlaw and such who just seemed so damaging in the contest.

But I'm watching the replay as we speak and I think I under-appreciated Heeney's contested work in tight. He really did seem like a lone hand in there at times, and with a tag no less.

Never want to hear another thing about "Charlie is not worth it".

Halves or wins his contests. Frees everyone up. Actually can play footy.

That was a hard watch.

The amount of arm tackles missed was awful.

Bice really needs a spell but we have nothing behind. Melican got touched up by a pensioner.

Not sure in some ways. Loved how we won, just did enough. Reminds me of Geelong of a few years ago. Looked liked spuds against average teams but won, turned it on, when it matters.

Serong massive out, in our top 5 for structure.

Logan so happy he went well, he can play. Clearance today was meh. Not 100% sure how the forwards should operate when always on the back foot.

Warner is worth $5m 1 minute and 20 cents the next. He is the missing piece imo.

4 points, move on, get cattle back, games into Cootee hellps and he is fine.

And ffs if Paps can't kick a goal stop giving it to him. Surely there are other options....geeez.

Assuming all of Curnow, McCartin and Serong come back, who gets left out? For mine, it would be McLean, Melican and Cootee. Would keep Cunningham in over Cootee for now.

Similar to how Rampe was managed a few games back, could see Lloyd possibly getting a rest at some point. If so, Cootee would survive.

Wasn't able to watch the whole game that McDonald, whilst kicking three goals, only had four possies. Wonder if there's any chance McLean stays in and McDonald is omitted?

Lot of media is about north improving today even on here.

I mean kudos to them round 9 last year they were 17th and a win and draw. They are now after the Crows win (surely) 12th with 4 wins

Sydney were 14th with 3 wins and are now oh look 1st with 8 wins.

If only we could improve as much as brave North.

I think the coverage of North is unsurprising - they’ve been so bad for so long, it’s fair enough that they get noticed for finally being competitive.

In Wardlaw, McKercher and O’Sullivan they’ve got 3 emerging guns. Not just good AFL players - guns. Sheezel and LDU are already recognised.

I know many don’t share my view, but I believe North are going to be very good in a couple of years.

The Swans continuing on our merry way is, to the neutral observers, a bit “meh”. Because we’re always good.

Not the Swans best game.. but got the 4 points, so all good.
We were down our best key fwd, our best key defender, our best transition player (Gulden) and two wingers (Serong and Campbell). Our team consisted of 9 rookies as well as Cootee and Bice which no other team wanted for 4-5 drafts.
North however, had 12 1st round picks playing tonight, including 7 top 5 picks
Yep, north are very brave

We kicked straighter, 16.9
We managed players: McCartin, Curnow, Serong.
North were out to make us pay at Marvel, and very nearly did.

We had Heeney, Mills and Blakey. But were entitled to expect more from some other players.

Good game from ex-Swan Luke Parker for North.

A.Clarkson -remember talk of him as a potential Swans coach, back in the day. A bullet dodged by the Swans.
