Toast Australian Rules Hall of Fame Night 2023

I respectfully disagree.

It's not the VFL hall of fame, and when Ash played, the SANFL was almost as good a league as the VFL in its own right.
That's complete rubbish - The SANFL was no way near the standard of the VFL/AFL when he played.
The VFA was on par with the level he was playing. He won his last best and fairest when the Crows were in the AFL.

It's just straight up pandering to SA and WA supporter. If players were either not good enough or didn't test themselves at the highest level, they should not be eligible from entry into the Hall of Fame as a player - or be categorised as second tier selections

Why are players who spent their career playing in a third tier league getting inducted? He may have been great - but we'll never know because he never had the ticker to mix it with the best. Hall of Fame should only include players who played at the elite level.

The AFL are becoming a joke with the constant pandering to the sooks in SA and WA. If this bloke gets in for playing SANFL - Nick Sautner should have been in years ago.

Not sure if serious

Lucky he was part of half a dozen SA sides that beat Victoria then isn’t it

It was the biggest game of their lives when SA players got to play Victoria. For Victorians it was normally a glorified training run or a drunken boys trip, main concern was not getting injured. That's why it no longer exists. You can't take sate of origin results seriously.

Worsfold will get in because captain and coach of premiership, like Mark Williams

Bickley is the biggest headscratcher in the hall probably

Bomber Thompson is not in it yet I believe.

I doubt he gets in now due to his dodgy off field issues and involvement in the Essendon supplements scandal.

I think Choco Williams playing career alone with Port Magpies and Collingwood was good enough to make it on its own merits fwiw

** Essendon systematic doping regimen - don't continue the News Limited PR spin.

I wouldn't say he's more worthy, but have to agree it's pretty ridiculous he's not in.
Best defender of the last 25 years by a mile.

He was good but not as great as Matt Scarlett

Bickley was a champion but if you have him in, surely Worsfold gets in too?
Not in any way denigrating Bickley as a player and leader but I’d have Roger Merrett ahead of him by quite a large margin. He’s just not HoF material… other than at Adelaide of course. And yes, Worsfold is also ahead of him, especially when you take into account his coaching success, but in my mind he doesn’t make it either.

Should there be a sheedy statue at the MCG.

For sure he’s put many many more bums on seats there with his nuf nuf commentary.

But he was also key in moving Essendon away from the MCG to docklands

FOS - Aish is as deserving as any of the guys in his generation and should have been in the Hall of Fame much earlier. Go find some Escort Cup games and you'll see the better SANFL sides beating the weaker VFL sides quite regularly. SANFL didn't have the depth of VFL but the best teams could have easily played in the VFL.

The arrogance of someone with little knowledge

Daniel Gorringe unlucky again
