Review Autopsy vs Adelaide

I could ask the same thing. Do you have inside mail that they are good blokes?
So your going to answer a question with a question.
No I don't know his mates so I don't call them losers. I'm sure they're fine because why not, everyone should be considered fine until proven otherwise.

Calling Libbas mates names isn't football related until someone proves it is.

A lot of comments on our repetitively dumb football in terms of forward entries (and other issues), which certainly smacks of a 'groundhog day' situation.
(I threw this in because the movie is on 7flix tonight at 7.00pm!)

I love that film. I could watch it over and over and over again. See what I did there?

All year we have played for a quarter or three but rarely for a whole game. This suggests to me that the midfield is the problem. And everything follows from that.

I'm wondering if we have a conditioning / fitness issue where certain midfield players cannot contribute with intensity for a whole game.

It might be the jumpers they are wearing but a couple of players look as if they have a little bit of weight around the belly. Smith and Libba have not looked as ripped as last year. But as i say, it might be the jumper just creating that illusion. Are we preparing as well as we should during the week, diet wise? Are we not doing the fanatical 2 way running for 4 quarters because we can't keep it up this year?

It might be that we are struggling mentally to maintain the edge we had last year. Even Bont was sometimes choosing to bomb the ball into the forward line instead of looking for effective options. When we are under pressure it's easier to just bomb away rather than think through a situation.

We climbed the mountain last year with a superhuman effort that was so special. So hard to back that up when we had all the euphoria for months after the grand final. How hard is it for young players to repeat such an extraordinary effort when they've achieved the ultimate and been lauded from pillar to post?

How hard is it to confront the fact that teams are copying us and doing it better......because they have faster, more skilful spread than us. And because they have learnt how to render us impotent at the source.

We were playing relatively poorly at the end of last year (before the finals). What has changed, apart from an interluding period of golden footy?

I'm verging on saying, let us look to next year if we cannot put 4 quarters together next week.

Apart from a couple of players the rest were Shyte.

Our kicking skills are deplorable. Not only can't we hit a target we can't even put it to the advantage of our players.

I came on to post this exact point but you beat me to it. I got sick of the number of times one of our players would run to space with an opponent on say his left and our kicker would put the ball to the left of the pair !!!!!!Not only could none of our players (well maybe the Bont is the exception) hit a team mate on the chest from any distance but they could not even get it in the general vicinity on the right (or in this case left) side of the contest. Our skills are hopeless. next draft period only good ball users need apply.

What has happened to you guys? Thought you'd be top 4 for sure this year

what happened is the 3 veterans(Murph, Morris, Boyd) fell off a cliff, though they can be forgiven since they are all 35. Boyd and Moz were huge last year with one getting an AA spot and the other finishing 2nd in the B&F.

Former A graders who would get a game at any club have turned to s**t (Libba, Dahl, Wood, Dickson, JJ, Stringer, Hunter and others)

We find out Tom Boyd has been battling clinical depression for over a year which has no doubt impeded his development. Ditto Cloke(could explain his lack of form over the past 2 years)

Season ending injuries to our next best KPD(Adams) and other players like Jong, Dunkley and Crameri has further crippled us.

We find a way to burn Bontempelli about six times a game. Seriously he'd kick 40-50 goals at one of Adelaide, GWS, Sydney.

I could go on about the coaching and other stuff but why bother. Fact is we are now s**t and the spirit of the team that played in last years prelim has left us.

Where's the passion, Ozil? Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned melt!

We obviously have very different perspective and expectations. What I'm really starting to find so tiresome are the posts of GF highlights or Bont holding the premiership cup aloft as a smug response to criticism of each pissweak performance we see from the club in 2017. It was fine until about the bye but it's starting to wear thin with me as we perform worse each successive week.

Yes, I have a life and I don't lie awake at night worrying about these things ... but I do care and I want us to stop the slide back into mediocrity which is where we spent most of the previous 62 years.

Having the 2016 flag wagging at VUWO is a great thing and eases the anguish a little but does that mean we should stop being passionate about wanting the best from our side each week? Or for venting our concern when they play unwatchable footy then get rolled once again?

If you don't want to see those passionate responses to our losses and the discussions of how it's come to this so quickly and how it might be fixed, then it might be best not to log on to BF*. I mean, what did you come here expecting to read ... more backslapping for the heroes of 2016?

* Unless you're talking mainly about FB and Twitter, which I don't do ...
I get where you're coming from. Earlier in the year when we dropped a couple or just scraped in a poster was critical of my attitude, which wasn't so much "don't be critical" as "let's not overreact", but maybe I need to understand that BigFooty is a medium for that in the wake of a loss or a bad stretch of games.

In this case I was expressing frustrations more with the Facebook contingent who would have players traded and coaches axed months after they delivered the ultimate, even when there are so many factors in our poor form beyond hunger or other intangibles.

Maybe but quite possible shitney will be 9th end of round.. and they'll make the 8.. saints and port don't have tough runs.

We're gone unless we win every game which we won't come close to.

Saints flogging ninthmond ended our year

I respectfully disagree. Us being a mentally weak team has ended our year.

Reading through this thread, many valid points have been raised. Coaching shuffle and match day tactics appear to be an issue, Bevo seems to have jumped at shadows that we would get worked out and so has fixed what wasn't broke. Injuries were shocking last year, same story this year. Fitness and preseason being a problem. I can cop all of that.

What I can't accept is the attitude. Yeah, you're down on confidence and form, but what relation does that have to not working hard? To letting your mates be physically pummeled without consequence? To not communicating and trying to improve, both individually and as a team? These are basic requirements of normal people in all walks of life, not just professional footballers. And after the last few years of being all heart and effort, even after the first part of this year when the fight for the most part was still there, where did it go?Unless the clinical depression issue is affecting the whole team, there is literally no excuse for the complete lack of pride, brotherhood and team spirit that they're displaying, particularly since the bye.

Forget about flags and finals, we've been waiting for over a month now for the players to show that they even have enough self respect and pride in their own work and friendship towards each other to actually want to be out there playing footy with each other. Let's hope we see it soon...at this point it looks like we won't need hair of the dog, we'll need an exorcist.

Surely skills can be improved. It takes discipline, maybe even specialist coaching, but I can't believe a poor kicker can't be turned around.

Can they though? I am talking about a significant improvement though (which is what we use). My example has always been Matthew Richardson. He was an awful kick and remained so his whole career. I assume Richmond coaches worked hard on his skills during his 15 (?) year career with them but his skills stunk until the end. Only one example i know but it makes me think if a player has skill issues you can get marginal improvement but the underlying (mechanical?) cause is always there. I would appreciate comments from anyone involved in developing senior players skills.

In Bevo's press conference he spoke about the team being too short and too light. He made reference to tall players being in the twos but not ready yet. He said players plural so that means there is more than one imo. I assume (in my order of making it) he meant - English, Young, Collins, Nathan M-M.

Any thoughts on whether he meant all four, only three, only two, only one ???????????????? Anyone I have missed?

I've been saying we are too short and light for weeks. Just look at how we compare to every club we play, we are always 2-3kgs down per player and 1-3cms.

The fact that you only named 4 players concerns me. The loss of Crameri, Adams, Cloke and Boyd aswell as the terrible form of Roughead returning from injury, has killed our structure in 2017. We need stringer to be a stronger body but I don't think he's tough enough for that.

Not sure, but my ears pricked up. Clearly he has identified it being a massive issue which is a good thing

I laughed when our mids inevitably kicked a ball high into the forward line to a waiting Caleb Daniel and Mitch Honeychurch early in the last quarter. The ball of course was smashed out of the area pronto. Then I cried.

You know that when you are watching a game and you lament the non-selection of Travis Cloke directly after an extended lay off that things are dire indeed.

This is the same reason why we get pushed off the ball easily. Other teams are playing a fine line within the rules...holding off the ball, blocking the run and shielding players from being able to shepperd. I've felt our lack of size has been very evident this season. Even our inability to lay an effective tackle.

you take the good with the bad imo
we won the flag on contested ball winners and handballing

He says that , but plays Honeychurch ?
He should have arranged a a meeting with the BF board during the week and pretty well all of us would have said we are too small , and the very least leave Honey out ?
