I don't udnerstand this Freo approach to making players train away from their team mates.

Surely isolating Bennell with a bunch of comparative hacks at Peel who mean nothing to him, is hardly going to help him sort himself out?

Would have thought giving him a week off, then having him back with his team mates where they can all support and monitor him, would make more sense, no???

Personally I’d have torn up his contract - but sure I guess a week away from training could work too.

If he were a Hawthorn player the club would release a statement that he'd "retired to spend more time with family and that he has come to the conclusion that his body and mind were not up to the rigours of a professional football environment. We thank .......... For thier contributions to the club and for thier courage and openness through their decision. We wish him all the best in his next stage of life and will continue to support him and provide assistance with his transition. "

Classy and not giving the impression that you are turfing a player obviously struggling to get thier life in order.

Banning him for 2 months and exciling him from training does nothing. Especially as he's on his 15th last chance and has already been turfed from 1 club that was desperate for anyone that can get a kick.

So he isn’t a distraction and negative influence on the rest of the squad?

Football clubs are littered with players that go out and do stupid things, whether fights, drink driving, drugs, urinating in casinos, etc.

If his behaviour is so bad that it is distracting the tohers, he should be cut.

If it's not, it is a mistake that they need to address and then move on.

Sending him to Peel for two months does nothing for either camp... it's like sending a kid to his room for being naughty...

You d view it as ‘you are sacked but have two months to redeem yourself’.

Now Finey sacked from SEN.

Whatever we might think of Hutchy (hell, I'm not exactly his biggest fan!), he's not mucking around.

Granted it's an AM radio station - but to me SEN has always been a bit bloody amateur in its production. I listen during trade week to get a feeling for what's going on - but after that couple of weeks I can't wait to switch off. It's like the Herald Sun comments section piping through my speakers. If Hutchy (and not a fan of his either) can make it listenable then I am all for it.

If Hutchy had’ve punted KB he’d have really done a sound job, but removing Robbo and Finey while giving s**t for brains Bartlett a prime time role is a massive fail.

Kb riles ppl up no doubt but he is pretty damn knowledgeable across all sports

I actually don't mind KB - I know he gets under people's skin but for the most part he knows that and works it. I also know his old school approach gets to people and that yes the game does need to evolve but he is correct in saying the afl is too reactive with their changes to the game at times

I just don't see the point of all these chances - you would love being a freo player with the club setting that sort of example
There were whispers saints players knew Ross had a few issues, so never got sacked when they really messed up

Chance it’s happened again?

Not sure what the rumours are and there hasn't been so much of a whiff that I'm aware of here but there would be others that may know what you refer to but I would think that's a fair bit of clutching

The North leadership group is laughable. What a joke of a club

Read a poster on the Norf board who claimed that the Anderson trade was no loss because Ben McKay will be a better player than Ryan Burton :drunk:
