Turned out to be very beatable, they lost the Grand Final by a dozen goals.

Barney (last season) and Chief (first season) kicked a goal between them. Dermie the only one who fired with 8 snags. Really just names on a page at that stage. Aside from Derm, none were the players we remember them as that year.

Pretty sure it was Langford for the first 3 quarters, replaced by Mick McCarthy in the last. Langers only decisive hitout for the day came at the first or second bounce of the game. This game set the scene for Greg Dear‘s ascension into the ruck role he basically held for the next decade.
