I don't have a problem with them outlawing the studs thing, but surely it's really just high contact? Like the rule should really just be that if studs are involved in head high contact then it's automatically high/severe impact?

The studs s**t is a result of people squealing about something that isn't an issue. It was born out of a player who people don't like doing it.

Knee in the back, ribs, back of head - "oh look at our game it's so majestic and amazing"

Player puts boot out to protect space - "oh my god those studs are going to rip someone open! Quick protect the players!"


Same thing happened when one player got a broken leg from a slide.
