Anderson was talked up as the consensus pick 2 well before GC were gifted the priority pick, so I'd say the former.

When Wet Toast is up there and the Cats were the minor premiers last year it's not so much about loving the Lions (though I do like how they go about it), it's more about the enemy of their enemy.

i don't hate them, i just don't feel the warm fuzzies about them that a lot of footy followers have at the moment. Actually didn't mind seeing them go out in straight sets.

Except head to head they weren't.

They were lucky to have home finals vs us in September conditions, in regular home and away we had their measure and would have had them at home finals or MCG across 2002 - 2003 as well.

But as a whole, yes, they did what we couldn't.
