Hopefully the next time expansion happens, the new teams do to North what North did to Collingwood, Billdogs etc.
Not sure, but the reason why it happened when we came in was because we had put in a lot of time over a number of years with the MUWFC and the Tassie girls. I think it was Kearney as well as Garner maybe who said something like they were waiting for North to come in because that's where they wanted to be. Obviously money might talk, but a lot of these girls do have genuine loyalty to the club.

Perhaps rather self-evident, but the consolation for Geelong is they (without their best player, mind you) couldn't have got a worse R1 fixture with the way these two teams match up.

And really they should have kicked at least 3 goals in that last quarter.
Yeah, we got absolutely raided last time lol.
Nevertheless, North has lost more talent to expansion signings than Melbourne.

It’s interesting how inverse the AFLW appears to be compared to the AFL right now. North and Adelaide are currently quite successful with good lists in the AFLW. Their AFL teams are currently on the bottom. Conversely, Richmond, West Coast and Geelong are quite strong in the AFL, but their AFLW teams are struggling.

Oh well, at least it gives the supporters of each team something to be happy about.

Brisbane did manage a win against Geelong and a draw against the Suns without Wuetschner last year, so theoretically her absence today shouldn't sway the outcome of this one. Though it will likely detract from the spectacle, kinda been a bad week for those classy types selection-wise.

Camera on the G-side of PRO today, I'm dizzy! (but it actually should be this way, albeit more so for later games at sundown)

Not sure which club has a better fifth midfielder than Gavalas. She's ridiculously good to have freewheeling around while the opposition focuses on Kearney, Garner, Riddell and Bruton.
Crocks also played Mia King through the mid field at times today, and she did some very good things as well, set up Emma King's third goal and laid some heavy tackles.

Players came to us because of the hard yards we had put in with women's footy for many many years.

It is a joke that we weren't a foundation club. Absolute joke.

Pretty predictable arm-wrestle of a first half there, if it continues to go to script then Brisbane will pull away with a few quick ones in the 3rd. That said, keeping Conti to just a few touches but only being a goal ahead doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the Lions atm.

Brutally bad football by Bernardi takes away pretty much any real hope for Richmond. Not just the fresh airy on the goal line, but also swishing that regulation chest mark at HF with 30 seconds left in the quarter. 2 whole disposals for the day as well.

Richmond play Melbourne next week at Casey Fields, decent chance of a record thrashing there (depending on how Freo-GWS goes). Tigers were down 50 in uncontested possessions and trailed 28-49 in the tackle count. Not expecting miracles overnight with the harder structural and ball movement stuff, but sheesh, the numbers paint a damning picture about their work rate.

I would have had the Saints and North over Pies and Blues. It’s just more big club bias that they were put in.

Yep, if we'd been in from the get go this group probably would have won a flag or two and now be open to offers from expansion clubs.

Brennan and Traub just don't give Richmond value for money. Most of the so called superstars from the first years are mostly being bypassed by talented kids as we knew they would.
Then why is there so much bitching about established players moving to expansion clubs? And shouldn't the Western Bulldogs, who are loaded with high draft picks, be much better?

Any team is going to struggle without ball-winning depth in their midfield, regardless of whether they have forwards presenting and taking overhead marks with strength (which Brennan did very well today), and regardless of age.

Being a key forward with a weak midfield up the ground, and no other dangerous forwards in the side, is a tough ask. Brennan's goalkicking needs to improve though. She's fluffed some pretty straightforward chances that would've made their scorelines more flattering if she could slot those.

Yep. There's a reason why the likes of Prespakis, Patrikiois and Morrison (hopefully she gets fit soon) among others come in and look immediately outstanding. These girls have had the development pathways available to them and they're constantly playing footy throughout their juniors. That's why this was always a generational project. I mean, the improvement from year one is obvious, but it's only going to get better as more of those girls who have played footy their whole lives and who have had elite coaching come into the league.
