DYLAN Moore will likely be one of the smallest players called out on AFL draft night but recruiters’ interest in the Eastern Ranges pocket rocket has only heightened during the year.

Moore’s stature has seen some question whether he could make it to the elite level but he has grown to be one of the Ranges’ best prospects this year.

It’s been a whirlwind season for the big-hearted 18-year-old, who has emerged from the local football ranks after 12 games with Rowville in the under-17s last year.

Dylan MOORE

04-Aug-99 | 175.8cm | 65.9kg | Eastern Ranges

“Dylan is a running machine who ran a quick time for the 2km time trial and this year his improvement has been enormous and it’s all come about through hard work. He just puts his balls on the line and works. Uses his speed to get to contests, his kicking has improved and the thing that has enhanced his prospects is that when he goes forward he can kick a goal. Small, but just keeps finding a way.” – Eastern Ranges coach Darren Bewick.

Think he'll take moore time than our other draftees to be ready. Good to see we're recruiting with speed and endurance in mind.

Absolute steal should his rating of 12 be accurate!

Will take a while to fill out but his running ability is clearly of high class and looks like he has enough footballing ability to make a real impact

Pretty much the Hartung replacement, which, given that fact, will be interesting to see how much game time he gets

project winger, seems to have a high footy IQ, just knows where team-mates are and somehow gets it to them, very speedy and a good 2km time trialist which is good for those long runs into an open goal, 176cm 66kg, needs some time in the gym so he doesnt get molested by those AFL big bodies....

Dylan MOORE (info from afl draft central)
Inside Midfielder/Small Forward (Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro)
04/08/1999 | 175.8cm | 65.9kg
Scouting notes: Small midfielder who isn’t afraid of winning the contested ball. His ground ball numbers are very good and is a big ball winning midfielder. Moore can also push forward and hit the scoreboard. Has a decent jump for a small midfielder which he can show off up forward. He also a very good endurance base but is one of the few players sub 180cm who do not possess elite speed. Is a smart footballer and just gets to the right position to win the ball. Clearance work is super.
Strengths: Endurance, kicking, contested ball winning, scoreboard impact, clearance work
Improvements: Speed, marking
Combine test results: 20m Sprint (secs) 3.14 | Agility (secs) 8.48 | Yo-Yo Test (level) 22.3

All three draftees have great stories.

James Worpul - had 7 siblings in a two story 5 bedroom house (sounds like Cloudstreet)

Dylan Moore - came from nowhere last year half way through the season to make rep teams, has many nay sayers because of size...but it's the "fight in the dog"

Jackson Ross - toured Europe as a tennis prodigy (by Australian standards anyway) ......oh, and overcame having two popstar parents from the USA (not sure about the last bit).
