Geelong 2018 = Geelong 2007

“There are no other good teams this year, much like there were no other good teams in 2007.”

I thought that the reason the cats dynasty was better than the lions and the hawks was because of how much tougher the Comp was in 2007.

2009 and 2011 were much tougher years than 2007, in 2009 and 2011 we had to topple two great sides in St Kilda and Collingwood who both finished on top of the ladder with 20-2 records.

Having said that, Port Adelaide's 2007 side was far stronger than any of the Fremantle 2013, Sydney 2014, West Coast 2015 sides.

The interesting thing about Collingwoods 2011 20-2 H&A season is the two losses were to Geelong.

I can't really make up my mind about this team until we play Richmond. This team is nothing like the 2007 team though, in how they play. No tsunami football with this team, it's more like Clarko's cluster out there at the moment.

Oh I’ve no doubt about that - been hearing that for years now so it’s obviously fact

What happened in 2008 then? Easily Hawthorn's weakest side of their last 4 premierships beat Geelong at pretty much the peak of Geelong's powers. Perhaps Fremantle 2013, Sydney 2014 and West Coast 2015 looked weak because they were playing a team that would have pantsed 2008 Hawthorn who in turn pantsed 2008 Geelong?

KC cannot be one of us. Just can't.

Chris Scott is doing a fantastic job with this team full of kittens and I expect we will be far more attacking 2007 style when out missing best 22 players return to our side.

Where were Hawthorn in 2009? MIA.

At least Hawthorn finally came to the party in 2011 and surprise surprise they had their pants pulled down by the Mighty Cats on the big stage when it mattered.

Hookers and blow apparently. Mostly blow. In any case I asked about 2008. Do you have a calendar with all the even numbered years removed?

Only a Geelong fan would call a QF "the big stage". It would explain why Geelong have had such trouble getting beyond the prelim lately. Play their GF in the QF.

Playing Collingwood and St Kilda in grand finals is basically a free win, both by far the biggest grand final chokers

Those sides were very much like Geelong 2008 peaked too early and were cooked come finals time.

Agree they were tougher than 2007 because Geelong were the only decent team that season.

What's the matter pumpkin? Hmmmm?

You still feeling sad that Hawks won four including three in a row when your (Geelong's) greatest era could only get three, but not even back to back?

Or you still feeling sad because of 2008?

Awww poor diddums :( It is a bit sad hey? Well you'll be alright, hope mummy was there to comfort you yesterday on Mothers Day.

Port 2007 stronger than the 2014 'best list of all time' Swans???

Took this thread seriously up until that point.

We've won plenty of premierships in even numbered years. 1878, 1880, 1882, 1884, 1886 and 1952.

The 2011 QF mattered, don't tell yourself otherwise.

We've won 16 premierships compared to Hawthorn's 13 premierships, and we've just dawned on a new era which should bring us even more premierships, whereas Hawthorn are set for a long spell in the wilderness.

Don't worry, there's absolutely nothing for me to be upset about.

Who said that Sydney team was the best list of all time?

Did it happen to be the same man who said Carlton wouldn't lose a game in 2015, and that Liam Jones is an explosive animal?
