The members of the 44 year club will still be here as loyal as ever.
Can you imagine if, back then, we were members of today's 'instant gratification required' generation?

exactly.Probably, but that also reinforces the fact that the umps are swayed by personalities and their sense of ego when the only factor should be the play.
Umpire's are human beings which means that they have ego's aswell. People often forget this.Side tracking a bit but I reckon big Tom Hawkins gets a better run from the umpires when he just plays the game.
exactly.
Back then you argued you point at the 6 oclock swill on Church st outside the Sale yards hotel,or one of the other watering holes,we were much more civil towards other people in that environment. Can you imagine if, back then, we were members of today's 'instant gratification required' generation?
As will I. Sorry that I'm not as old as you lol!The members of the 44 year club will still be here as loyal as ever.
It was time to deliver 2 years ago to be honest...Perhaps. Thereās a pretty good point in having expectations. Particularly with the amount of bullshit weāve been fed about Scott and the players that have been brought in. Itās time to deliver.

What do you make of the fact the umpire I've forgotten his name that Hawhins had the run in with never did another Geelong game for the year.Becoming more prevalent too.
As the need by some umps to be bigger than the players is slowly ignored, so too it becomes the new 'norm'
It is mate but you still need to judge each post on its merits.I honestly didn't take offence but I do find this board to be quite critical and pessimistic on the whole but maybe that is just me

No chance I'll get another 44 year stint. We need Coaches and players who are driven to see YPO at another raising of the flag ceremony. As will I. Sorry that I'm not as old as you lol!
I agree that the umpires at times are shithouse. No doubt. My point was that if players treat them with respect they are more likely to treat the players with respect, that's all. They do, but an umpire - in any sport - is there to adjudicate the right interpretation in a particular moment of play with impartiality, which precludes their personal ego and opinion of an individual player.
These guys are supposed to be the best within their profession, but are laughably amateurish too often.
I imagine that was an AFL decision and a good one at that I would have thought. Take away any doubt. What do you make of the fact the umpire I've forgotten his name that Hawhins had the run in with never did another Geelong game for the year.
I agree on it being an AFL decision, what do you mean by take away any doubt?I imagine that was an AFL decision and a good one at that I would have thought. Take away any doubt.
There's no point having negative connotations towards something that hasn't yet happened. I just think it's better to look ahead as a supporter and not dwell on past failures. We've got an entire season ahead to get excited about. What happens will happen ... until then.Perhaps. Thereās a pretty good point in having expectations. Particularly with the amount of bullshit weāve been fed about Scott and the players that have been brought in. Itās time to deliver.
Nice work.I think his name was Richard Cranium.
Still a bit early. Usually excitement and forgetting about the previous year comes around NAB cup time. There's no point having negative connotations towards something that hasn't yet happened. I reckon it's different for footy. Even now.Can you imagine if, back then, we were members of today's 'instant gratification required' generation?

Your parents tell you what team you go for, and you stick with them till the end. Win or Lose.
Except If you go for Hawthorn.
Maybe when your changing their nappies, you just get used to seeing Hawthorn jumpers. Why would anyone do THAT to their kids??
