A fit Lecras still has a lot to offer but he needs to be managed.
He needs to become a home ground specialist, rested every 2nd week if he likes it or not.

This will also allow the young forwards to get game time whilst reducing the potential to break them.
He's a very smart footballer, Ryan, Rioli, Waterman and co could learn a lot off him in what should be his last year.

That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. So you’d drop Rioli or ryan if they were performing and kicking goals because “LeCras plays well at home”

Your suggestion doesn’t allow them any continuity.

No one is denying that he is still skilful, it’s not that. It’s his selfish play and burning of players. Inability to lay blocks and lack of forward pressure. He doesn’t push up the ground anymore effectively “cheating the team”. Things that are essential to a small forward.

Lecras IS getting on as stated. So he will start the season in a blaze of glory before the grind starts to take its toll.Do we manage him as stated ? or do we phase him out? He doesnt play well away from home nor do a few of them [ e.g. Cripps ] and that's where Simmo needs to have his focus. Enough of this "have a shocker away then redeem yourself by having a blinder at home and all is well again ". There looks to be enough competition across the board to eliminate that inconsistency.Perform week in week out, home and away or get out!!

While I wouldn't necessarily agree in only playing him at home, I doubt it would be at the expense of Ryan/Rioli.

I'd be the first to admit Lecca was pretty bad this year, but you're acting like he burns players every opportunity he gets. He still averaged 5.5 score involvements per game in 2017. To put that into perspective, it's the same as MacDonald-Tipungwuti.

Lecca's injuries this year affected his overall impact, and he'll hopefully be making amends in 2018.

Everybody is getting up me and telling me we are finished. All those retirements blah blah blah.We lost Mitchell, Priddis and who? We get back the best ruck combo in the country[ including our resident thug ] Venables and Rioli have had a year in the system and will be better for it and we have some really exciting talent coming through. On paper at least that makes us a better side than last year.

Exactly.

Petrie and Mitchell helped us in crucial.moments during games but its time for the young kids to step up now.

People can write us off at their own peril.

We will be a much quicker more agile team with better ball movement. Especially since getting rid of Priddis.

Our midfield always looked and played better when Priddis missed a game.

If Rioli and Ryan are even half as good as this board seems to indicate they are then Cripps and Le Cras ought to be very nervous.

How Le cras has managed to escape being dropped under Simpson's tenure is beyond me

Petrie was giving a few players a big rap. Cripps was one saying he was surprised wirh his work ethic and also the way he helped out younger players.

Cripps is a better player than most on here realise or will admit. Last season picked up an ankle injury and came back too early which is something we don't do very well as a club

Hopefully the list is recovering from the gaping holes it has had in it - Duggan and Nelson are going to be 4th year players in 2018 and hopefully really starting to contribute in the 22. More depth is going to help us manage these niggles and injuries much better I think. Players obviously get through sore, especially in the latter half of the year but being able to give someone who needs a proper spell a break with a competent role player should help us hit September in better shape.

cripps will be the perfect foil for rioli and ryan if those two are firing. He brings the defensive pressure, hard running and ability push down the ground as a small forward. Neither Rioli and Ryan possess those characteristics and imo cripps will complement them very well.

Its hard to quantify a lot of the work cripps does on tv

I get to games a few times a year and the work he does off the ball is immense.
