On what grounds?
Fact he has played 4 games on 2 years, fact he was average on the first 2 tests, fact he offers nothing with the bat or in the field

He got some very important wickets in the second innings at Lord's. He's getting four wickets-per-game, which is good enough when you have Starc and Cummins in the attack. He's a certain starter.

Fact Hazlewood is a better bowler than Neser. If fit it is not a debate who plays. The only spot he can take is Murphy.

I thought Hazelwood looked even less threatening than Boland over the first 2 tests. Everything was gun barrel straight and every wicket he's got has either been from a poor/mishit shot or from the bouncer strategy. And he's gone at over 4.5 an over.

Boland bowled without luck but was only ok at best.

I'd give Neser a chance.

He's done * all by the same metric we should keep warner

Because they were smacking him around was more luck then skill Boland has outbowled him and the stats prove it

One has been failing, the other hasn’t been fit. It is not the same metric at all. Hazlewood is fit and performed pretty well so far this Ashes
He's worst economy of any series he's been in, most of wickets have been gifted there aren't many you go wow he's on fire

So why is it Hazlewood is gifted wickets but Boland isn't? Whether through luck or skill, the aim of the game is to get the opposition out twice. We've far more chance of doing that with Hazlewood in the team than Boland.

I'd say there's next to no chance of only going into a test match with 3 specialist bowlers & only one of Marsh or Green will play.

Exactly. The only way Green and Marsh both play is if Warner gets dropped, and even then it's probably not likely (they're more likely to bring Harris in). I reckon they'll go with something like this:

Khawaja
Warner
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Marsh
Carey
Starc
Cummins
Murphy
Hazelwood

The same top 6 as the third test - the only change is Boland making way for Hazelwood. If they decide not to go with a specialist spinner, then maybe Neser gets a chance.

Rain forecast every day in Manchester from now till the end of the test. We won't be having long spells in the field and there won't be enough sun for the pitch to bake and take turn. No point playing Murphy if he's not going to get a bowl. Head can do a job if really needed.

I think the smart move is to go in with 3x quicks, 2 all rounders and stack the batting. 4 quicks plus the 2 all rounders is overkill.

I'd pick Neser over Hazelwood or Boland and Harris over Warner. So:

Khawaja
Harris
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Green
Marsh
Carey
Neser
Starc
Cummins
