The trouble is unless he fixes his technique plus any mental issues he’s going to face a short ball barrage at test level from the fastest bowlers in the world. It’s a recipe for disaster if he’s not 100% physically, mentally and technically

Yeah we were so lucky to lose Nathan Lyon - the Poms would have wrapped up the Ashes by now if he was still playing .

Lets not forget Test 4 was shaped by the likelyhood of rain taking a day or two. It wasnt as though the rain appeared from nowhere cancelled the game. It was in both teams planning. Knowing that you can see that Labuschagne and Marsh guided Australia to one of the two desired outcomes they had leading into the likely 3.5 day test. Sure it was helped by very poor bowling by England but is partnership for the ages. The English gave it a good shot but because they were 2-1 down their task was always going to be harder than the task Aus had to draw or win the game. Aus have had a good tour only losing 1 of the 5 tests they have played so far and have pocketed the world cup and the urn for the flight home.

There's weather around, and this side has bounced back from bad tests. Honestly we weren't even that far off last test, we went in with a plan, stack the batting there was never enough time. Look at the other 3 tests, we should have won all of them, been easily the better side with ought our best spinner there for most of them.

I may not know as much about the game as stokes but I do know that they only way for England to win the ashes was to take 20 wickets. That should have been the priority not putting on runs that may or may not have mattered.

Stokes is so far up his own arse. Surely he could admit that even a declaration 20 overs earlier would have probably reaped them a couple of extra wickets, given how demoralised we were, and then a much better chance to take the last four in 30 overs the next day.

Also...if there ever was a time to declare at parity or not much more this was it. You have your Bazball, can score at 6-7 an over to chase a target maybe even 8 an over. Why do it the other way which is flawed with risk of the weather.

One test? Try 3 and I'm generous with one of them. Green tinge's you want to make use of it. England have had everything go their way and yet we still lead. Could easily end 3-1, or we defend the 2-1. Hopefully we bat first and slowly for 2 days then lets see how brave these "we have morally won" Poms are.

When has it been ‘hard.’ Tell me.

On the first pitch the only real movement of any sort was for about two milliseconds on day one - they batted.
The second, yes it was greenish on day one. And Australia batted.
In the third test the pitch was hard and fast and didn’t move much at all. It had next to no impact on the match apart from helping Mark Wood.
This test it didn’t help anyone.

Cloud cover is the only thing that’s changed at all and even that’s just a thrashwank. We keep seeing stats about who has gotten the most swing:

You don’t think that’s as much to do with England playing a specialist swing bowler in 3 of 4 tests as well as two others who do it bloody well. Even Wood swings it.
Australia has one swing bowler and by and large have played 4 other pitch-hitters.

One of the key things everyone has given the English s**t about is declaring on the first day of the series. Not really sure why 17 days of play later they need to prove whether they can play brave cricket or not.
