• Frustrating watch, but very, very happy with the result. Just needed the win for the season, given we got the result don't care so much that we were flat from start to finish. Wouldn't want to be the next few games but the result today is all that mattered.
• Huge mixed bag some great passages alot of not so great, same for almost all the player moments of brilliance and moments of horrendous.
• Selection next week interesting as far as the Keys go. McDonald had a great first half but did fade out of the game, McLean was probably one of our better players. Amartey was quiet but won't get dropped.
• Not sure what's going on with Melican, didn't understand why he was dropped early in the year.....but know why after watching the last 2 weeks, he's a better player than this but not in great form. Edwards was really good I thought, so reckon he's the one who keeps his spot, when McCartin is back. McCartin can have you tearing your hair out and times with the bad moment but when he's not there you realise or at least appreciate more all the good he does.
• Blakey was great today, probably the one star player who was completely engaged for 4 qtrs today. The others played in fits and spurts.

Paps was good but also kinda shit with some of those misses , overall a great year but an odd set of mistakes , wonder if he will need a rest?

Warner will have his numbers and be in the bests and I know I'm harsh but he was absolute junk for a half

should never commentate a swans game again. It's like they'd invited a member of the kangaroos cheer squad to join the team.

I like big Edwards in game number 3. Imagine that with another 50 games under his belt.

Disposal and handling seemed slippery all day.

No real standouts. Our best had okay games, but no one was great. Heeney and Blakey probably our best. It's one of those games where it's hard to name many.

Cootee got his game back together in the second half. Might not be ready yet but good to give him the experience.

So much of ladder positioning is defined by banana peel games like these. So important when you manage to get a W.

North have a decent list. Clearly set themselves for us.
Their Bigfooty page was pretty confident before the game. Suck a bag of d!cks.

Did it today without Curnow, McCartin, Serong and Gulden. Gotta be happy with that.

Get a rocket up them and come home and beat the pies next week.

I am not sure what has happened to Papley the last year or two. I mean his set shots have never been good, but this year his set shots feel like they have gotten even worse. Every time I see him take a mark in the forward 50 I have already mentally decided he is going to miss it.

Logan McDonald has had a funny season. He's barely been sighted the last couple of weeks and yet he's kicked 3 goals in close wins.

Cox will be unhappy to concede 27 scoring shots after conceding 29 last week.

Defence is an issue - all over the ground and maybe in the midfield at times, all good to run and gun but you have to go both ways

The 4 points are nice but we are deluding ourselves if we think that performance was good enough.

I am also glad that most people on this board who used to say "take the 4 points, that is all that matters" have basically stopped doing that these days as it has been proven too many times that if a team keeps putting in performances like that then those performances can suddenly appear in a Grand Final and a better team would take full advantage.

when you can play a game like that and win it’s almost an 8 point game. So much upside still for a team leading the league. This is a important win as there is, we did enough, and that is what counts…. we only had to beat North today, no one else and we did.
