The Heat have been the best side all season so they're very worthy winners in the end. It was only a couple of seasons ago that they had the weakest bowling attack in the league who regularly got tonked, but have now got an international standard attack with Neser, Johnson, Swepson and Kuhnemann. Their batting early in the tournament also went a long way to setting this up.

That's a great win for the Heat to knock off the Sixers at home at the SCG and they humiliated them in the end, always good to see an upset
Yeh, but a more competitive final would've been good for a neutral lol.

This one was over pretty early even though it dragged on late.

Nesers catch just sums up the Heats last two outings.Played excellent T20 cricket.Thought they where done after last Fridays loss to the Sixers.

Agreed. Can make a case during the season but I think in a final you just get runs on the board.

Unless you skittle them for a collapse, you're usually at best chasing just under par which is still enough pressure in a final to falter.

Just go out, make par and bowl well. That should be the mantra.

It’s interesting, because I’m pretty sure the conventional wisdom early on in 20/20 was to chase. But it does look like at least in Australia that batting first is a viable decision.

I still feel like batting second is better and that teams just don’t know how to chase effectively - way too much trying to hit boundaries when 1s and 2s can get you a decent chunk of most totals. But maybe the game has evolved in this way and batting first is generally an advantage.

The Heat, Scorchers and Sixers lost a finals match after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. The Heat chose to bat first against the Strikers and would have batted first tonight if they had the choice.

Recon tall Paul will be back at the Heat next season.Set up the Heat early this BBL season. With some big performances in rain delayed matches

I don't know if he's even played a Shield game.

Jet white ball player though.
Definitely true that he’s unproven at first class level (20 wickets at 23 in four matches I think) but his action looks effortless and like he could combine speed and consistency. May not get a chance with big three incumbents but would like to see it.

So Brisbane, Sydney and scorchers all multiple BBL champions.

What’s the problem with the Melbourne sides?
… seems Victoria/state/players ,on the general, is just so average at cricket

Vic cricket is not good enough to support 2 teams and no amount of random combos of imports and left overs from other states will change that.

You'd think between them two sides would be able to retain the best Vic players, but Murphy played tonight and got an extension, Matt short plays for the Strikers, Fraser McGurk plays for the Gades in BBL but the Vics let him go to the Redbacks in state cricket.

Meanwhile the Stars have more WA rejects than locals in the team. Horrific list management all around.

Stars dominated early on.. if the double chance was around back then they surely would have won one

Wonder if the game being run by a proper national organisation plays a part in it?

In football the national body is pretty much a glorified Victorian state body .

Certainly does their clubs no harm in regards to success in their winter sport
