Not a lot of positives besides Sims imo. The fact that our aging midfield finally won (first time this year?) isn't of much consequence given they'll all be gone before we're in contention again. Prestia pushed KMac2 out of the centre and we still lost.

The first Sonsie kick was somewhat excusable because he'd been on a long-chase from like the interchange and then remained involved in the play. MRJ has the same problem, always spent because he's defensively covering for our elders who can't run.

Not a lot of positives? Obviously didn’t watch the game then

Harsh on Gray
No doubt he lowered his colours in the last but overall he had a very positive game especially considering it’s only his 3rd
Only thing I really didn't like was when he ran the ball out late in the game. Really needed to try to take it on by winning the ball, he had Broard free behind him.
3rd game though, hopefully they talk to him about that and he learns from it. He may have been cooked also and not had the legs to push to get there any faster either to be fair.

Correct you are. 😉

Spent and no confidence… needs time in VFL to dominate a bit. It’s been a good spell to get a taste of afl and now he should go back and work on his crafty
agree but theyll prob keep playing him

1 point in a whole quarter lol.so.predictable
yeah, i know i bag on, but the problem was that in the last quarter they stacked the defense and anticipated our long kicks to the forward line, then they mopped up us coming out of there.
Was very disssapointed with the game plan in the last TBO. and the reason why we need more measured kicks into there.

Bugger that hurt to lose. Should’ve been further in front.

Heaps and heaps of positives to take out of that.

Apart from the misses I thought that was Faulls best game.

Sims marking was a highlight. Managed to get back multiple times to support the defence. Think he’s the lynch replacement.

Can genuinely see us playing sims faull and Armstrong in future.

Well done to hopper and Taranto started on fire and did their best to drag us over the line.

Prestia please stay fit. Please play on. You’ve still got it

Rubbish. A player with a winning attitude picks the ball up. The only time you soccer it is when it's pushing with rain or it's to your own or a team mates clear advantage, not just hoping it works out, especially in the backline.
Look, he played a fairly decent game until the last quarter. However those two soccer kicks should not be ignored, they were horrendous play.
Rubbish there were about 30 soccers off the ground in the last.

They were poor decisions but move on

Really bummed we lost that.

1.6 in the second with some easy shots missed the difference in end.

Bad kicking is bad football.

This is one that got away.

However, I’m also immensely proud that we are even in games like this. Most of us had this down as a 40 point loss.

When you pause and think back to that west coast and Collingwood pre season game to where we are now, we are playing well ahead of our curve IMO.

Most expected us to be completely uncompetitive this year.

We are showing some amazing signs 12 games into an epic rebuild.

Sims was huge today.
Miller outstanding
Dion made me eat humble pie.

slack and selfish by jonty. Marks 30m out on a tricky angle for right footer....turns his back immediately, meanwhile steely green is 12m out no one in cooee, slight angle but a gimmy (no prob for a right footer) jonty misses his shot by 5 metres.:eek:
stupid stupid stupid

Personally I'm happy he took the responsibility, just not happy he missed it!

That’s the spirit

The Good

Sims really showed something in the first 3 quarters both up forward and in the ruck giving Nankervis a chop out. Plays the rest of the season in the seniors unless form drops away dramatically.

Banks & Ralphsmith continue to build on their good form this season. Their run and carry, plus ball use are really strong features of their games.

The midfield mix looked a lot better with Prestia injected into the mix, which also allowed Taranto & Hopper to play with a bit more offensive freedom knowing that we were winning the clearance more often than not. McAuliife also had some more important moments as he also builds on his start to this season.

Our overall play in the first 3 quarters was something that we as supporters can look forward to seeing a lot more often over the next few years. The only downside was the conversion once we got it inside F50, but that won't always be the case.

The Bad

The last quarter fade out hurts as getting a scalp like GWS would have been great for this group, but considering that none of us really expected us to be in the position we found ourselves in the last quarter kind of takes away some of the pain.

Changes
Out: McIntosh Trainor
In: Clarke Balta

B: Broad Miller Balta
HB: Brown Banks Vlastuin
C: Ralphsmith Prestia Clarke
HF: Mansell Sonsie Campbell
F: Green Lynch Faull
R: Nankervis Taranto Hopper
INT: Ross McAuliffe Sims Gray Smith
Glad you mentioned Ralphsmith, I thought he was really good today

Disagree. Very easy to lose by five goals in the last in modern football. They got the margin back quickly. Perhaps it’s a thing we weren’t another goal or two in front. Imagine the melts then!

Not saying it can't happen, but generally, teams that have control more than not win these games, and we had control.
We shit the bed thats it no getting around that. We panicked, turned the ball over and tried to save the game, that's what happened.
