1. You don’t need a pre-season to learn how to play defensively. It’s pretty basic. Stop watching the footy all the time and worry about the guy you’re supposed to occasionally be defending.
2. Opposition coaches don’t need to “work him out”. They already have. For all his third man up intercept marking Scrim is the easiest player in our back 6 to play through because he has zero opponent awareness.
Every side has this player.
Nick Vlastuin admitted on radio last week that he doesn't play on a man.
Tom Stewart racks up 40 touches because he tells his opponent he has Covid and must stay 1.5m away at all times.
I'm quite confident if we play DGB and Blanck as close-checking talls, Sicily and Scrim as intercept/rebounders, Hardwick as a small lockdown and Jiath as our pure rebound that we'll be getting closer results to Richmond and Geelong in defence currently.
May take a little time however as Blanck, DGB and Jiath are all quite inexperienced.
