Opinion Sack Hinkley 10 - UnTENable

The game day experience is shït.
In all the surveys where the club asks me what can they to do to improve my game day experience I respond "win". I don't give a rat's about all of the other faffery that goes on pregame and during the breaks to keep the theatre goers entertained.

Hinkley is possibly the league's most polarising coach. There are clubs who would give almost anything for a coach to have their side competing consistently; he's led Port to finals in six of his 11 seasons at the helm including three of the past four. Has he had the best or second best list in the competition in any of those years? Probably not. But that won't stop the critics from circling; after all, there were calls of his position being 'untenable' after two losses to start 2023.

What more can he do? He's dragged a literal sack of potatoes into the finals in 6/11 years.

Great to pay someone hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to say "How's it going"

Donuts is the coach under the most pressure in 2024

Lets Go Reaction GIF by Bounce
Under pressure? Pffft.. he has a two year contract and Koch by the short and curlies. He gives a flying ****, he can't lose whatever happens.

2021 Port 2nd
2022 Port 11th
2023 Port 3rd (Hinkley contract year.)

By the way, a simple analysis of this.

He's had 7 non-contract years since his first season. In those years the change on the previous season's ladder position has been:
-4, -1, -5, 0, -1, -9

He's had 3 contract years since his first season. In those years the change on the previous season's ladder position has been:
+5, +9, +8

In the last decade he has never improved the club in a non-contract year, or failed to improve the club in a contract year. Not once.

Its very depressing reading. The idea that the team plays for the coach and not the jumper.

The microcosm of that could be the 13 wins in a row last year where the boys absolutely flogged themselves to wins and then finishing with a 3 and 6 and out is straight sets.

There was a definite divide during the season which could be attributed to Kenny hitting the marks for an extension midway in the season. Maybe there were other reasons but I would have preferred the boys working their guts out towards the end of the year and in finals.

The comments by Daniel.Norton were truly embarrassing. We're a football club. We're in the business of winning flags. It's not a love in or a popularity contest. How did we get here? I hate it.
Daniel Norton is one of the big reasons we have 'got here'. He has been the propaganda arm for ' close enough' for a decade.

That’s all great how wonderful Ken is and that he’s one of the best and most caring people he’s met in football.
I’m coming around to the notion they think he deserves a premiership and that’s why he’s had 12 years in the seat. So far.

He's a textbook psychopath. He'd probably come across as caring to people he wants something out of and to everyone else he'd be a total arsehole.

The bit where he described Hinkley as ‘authentic’ particularly tickled me.

Spurns pressure and accountability at every turn, has promised a flag every year for the past 4 or 5 before shrugging his shoulders and throwing everyone else under the bus when it doesn’t happen, and reacted to the ‘SACK HINKLEY’ sticker like it was some sort of taboo slur more in keeping with the events leading up to Kristallnacht.

Does any other club flog the living s**t out of their propaganda machine purely to try to get people to like the coach?

If we’re judging coaches by virtue of their likeability and personality, Russell Ebert was a saint with more footy credits in the bank than Warren Buffet — and they ran out after just 5 years.

Hinkley’s bullsh¡t resume and brainless drivel is still bolstering his presence here for reasons that just don’t hold up under the most superficial scrutiny.

I really don’t like that guy. Comes off as another suburban shitter like Richardson.
