Three weeks after the announcement of the listicles, here's the first one!


Let's take a look at 5 SweetaMania matches that never happened




1: Perma-bombed: KohPhi vs Tony Lynn 15, SweetaMania III



Yes, before he got perma'd, Uncle Tony was slated to face his old BluCrew comrade at SweetaMania 3.

Using the backdrop of Tony's impending "defection" to the fledgling Old Boys, the original story would've seen KohPhi costing the (at the time) Hardcore and Tag Team champion his belts in the build up to the Showcase of the Mortals (along with a World Championship match against Loonerty), beating TheCoach16 as a warmup, then tapping out Tony in a matter of minutes.

However, only days before his World Title shot, Tony was permabanned, canning the feud before it began.

At least KohPhi got to win ClarkeMoney in the Bank as recompense.




2: The Eternal Rivals: PhenomenalV1 vs Elton Johns Wig, SweetaMania I



...Yeah, this was the punchline for the original idea for SFAEW.

The plan I had for SFAEW was tied into my Season 31 return to the Sweet FA, with me citing the chance of doing something new as a catalyst for my comeback.

The joke here was that by the end of the season, I'd just be rehashing the Phenom vs Elton rivalry that had been run into the ground for years.

However, there was one flaw in the plan: people actually got invested in SFAEW. The Half Back got into a heated rivalry with me, and the ball kept rolling from there...



3: Repeat After Me: Musical Cheese vs Brothers of Distortion, SweetaMania IV



In a late season draft of the SweetaMania 4 card, damicky and HARPSichord were set to defend their Tag Team Championships against The Filth Wizard and pantskyle at the event.

There's a couple of small reasons why it didn't go ahead:

1: Filthy and damicky had already fought each other for a championship at SweetaMania 3, and the card already had a semi-repeat match from that show in the form of the Nou Camp Combat Club triple threat.

2: A little serial_thrilla had informed me that Braklet was set to leave Dragon Island at the end of the season, so I took the opportunity to set up a feud between thrilla's protegés by subbing them in.



4: NEWGROUNDS WAS BETTER WHEN PERMABANS CHANGED THE LINEUPS OF FAKE WRESTLING SHOWS: PhenomenalV1 vs TJASTA, SweetaMania IV



This one hurts.

After years of me accusing TJASTA of being a brony, we were set to finally come to blows at the Grandest Stage of All.

However, TJ had some ideas before the season even began, and...I really wish we could've done this match. The shenanigans would've been great, but on the other hand, my feud with Kennedy Parker turned out to be great so...



5: The Ultimate Test: Tigerturbulance vs Tonga Bob, SweetaMania III



Almost every World Championship matchup at SweetaMania was planned at the start of the season that preceded it.

This one is the exception.

Turbo was going to beat Loonerty for the belt in Round 17 of Season 33, with Tonga Bob winning the V1 Climax tournament to face him at the Showcase of the Mortals.

But then I actually started to think about the details of how Turbo would win the belt.

In the week before Turbo's title shot, Loons would be defending his belt against Bonz, with the story beat of Bonz battering Loons as hard as possible so Turbo could have an easier time the week after.

The thing is, Bonz was (and is) being booked as an unstoppable Goldberg-esque monster who was winning matches against former World Champions in under 8 minutes, and he'd built up an undefeated streak. Should he really be losing to Loons? Winning by count-out or DQ would've cheapened his streak too...

Ultimately, the knock-on effect of Tony Lynn 15's permaban gave me a chance to reshuffle my mistake.

Turbo's title shot would get moved up, with Bonz now outright winning the belt instead, and the Turbo vs Bob match would become the V1 Climax final.


Which leads us to...




Bonus: What Retirement Does To A Main Event: Bonz vs Tonga Bob, SweetaMania III



Yes, Loons originally wasn't going to be involved in the main event.

And in fairness, neither was Bonz. He and Loons were penciled in for a rematch in the semi-main, while Turbo and Bob fought for the belt in the actual main.

After the Tony debacle, Bonz and Bob suddenly had a date with destiny at the end of the season.

Then Loonerty informed me that he was retiring, and I decided to give him one last hoorah with by turning the main event into a Triple Threat. Loons specifically requested for Bonz to pin him to keep establishing the Frenzied Feline as an unstoppable force.
Don't quote me on that, he may just have wanted to take the pin because he'd be leaving anyway.




...the thing is, before he made that request...



Tonga Bob was booked to break Bonz's streak and win the belt.




Tonga Bob's planned reign as World Champion never happened due to a string of permabannings and retirements. Talk about being in the right place at the wrong time.​
