Round 1 Vs Fighting Furies
  • RD 1
    Baghdad Bombers Vs Fighting Furies
    at Abdu Prison

Hello friends, and thanks for joining The People’s Champion for our first look at the Fighting Furies.

As most match threads with the Bombers and Furies commence, there is always a day or two of serious s**t
    flinging

    02195496-8E9E-4333-9B0D-D2ADB0874BFA.gif

and a LOT of **** measuring, which in the Furies case, didn’t take long.

    A321A01D-05FD-4841-B31C-D721F79D35AF.gif

Personally, I really enjoy the Furies and their schtick, and they’ve added some great talent in the off-season.

Leading the charge in the match thread were two of their boom recruits from an off-season recruiting spree to strengthen their ranks, and strengthen them they did. Elton Johns Wig and Norma Lee Ava combined for over 300 posts and they were followed by the quirky yet loveable (maybe not loveable) TJASTA who was also quite active, knocking up a magnificent ton of Katharine Hepburn and Top Cat gifs, along with his usual copypasta schtick.

Returning players Sterge and tigland were also pretty active, and offered a POD. Both got into the match thread, and it was good to see that it was taken in the right spirit. Welcome back to the league lads.

Metalcrusher from the Bears was also quite active , chiming in with 100-odd posts of pure delight. He is scared of spiders though, so please be mindful of his arachnophobia when you play the Bears next. *actual footage of Crush

Wayne and EJW resumed hostilities after their epic battle earlier in the year over supermarkets and toilet paper, but this match was more focused on a mysterious PM.
It was a vicious fight between the two.

    85DF2178-6F02-4C69-9F13-1BDE6490259F.gif

And EJW was hungry afterwards as he was escorted from the prison after trying to enjoy a meal at the Camel Cafe.

    45D40BDB-D4CC-419C-BF4D-235CD0EBC5A3.gif

The Furies had nearly the full compliment of their list contribute in round 1, 20 by my count, but I ran out of fingers and toes so it may have been more.
They were very engaging in all aspects of banter and have a really bright future ahead if they can keep everyone engaged and active.

    246D7AF1-9DCD-427B-AAC1-C1F91834F95F.gif

The match thread itself had over 2k replies so if you blinked, you’d miss about 4 pages, but it was really enjoyable nonetheless, and I think the Furies are on the right track.
They’ve addressed a few glaring deficiencies in the off-season and recruited accordingly, and I don’t think there was much mention of neck-punching, goon bags, strippers or dumpsters, so we think Ned_Flanders may have turned the corner on his road to recovery.

Up next, I’ll be handing out the awards to 5 lucky Furies.

    Stay tuned...

    Wacky Tiger

It was pretty tough to come up with a stalwarty type figure from the Furies, but Wacky takes the chocolates this week. Doesn’t need to say much, or do much, but it was a stalwarty performance by the old-timer.

    The Fallen Hero

    The Half Back

Another one which was tough to hand out, but who better than my old mate Halfy to be this weeks fallen hero.
A former EKA winner, Halfy is basically apart of the furniture here in the SFA, and has been for 15+? seasons or thereabouts. Isn’t really around much anymore, but when he is, there’s sure to be a multi or two flying about.

    Mister M

Didn’t really have much to choose from as M is the only Furies rook this season, but his first match was encouraging. Got amongst it and had some fun, and that’s all you can really ask of someone heading into their SFA debut.

    Tigerturbulance

This was an easy one, as there are very few in this league that can crack me up like Turbo does.
An acquired taste, young Turbo has spent his fair share of time in banhammer prison, but that’s just his style. Well known for his elite photoshopping skills and that pink blob thingo as his avatar, I expect Turbo to feature at the pointy end in the beez again this season.

    Elton Johns Wig

Recruited from the Wonders at the end of S29, EJW has really added a fair bit to this Furies squad. If there’s a fight, you can be sure that the human hairpiece will be right in the thick of it, and that is why he is my choice for TPCPC this week.
Very few “get” this league, but Wiglet is one of them.

So that’s the first week of ratings and analysis done friends, really looking forward to the next match thread.

    Until next time

East Side Hawks Vs Baghdad Bombers at The Eyrie

Hello friends, I’m back again to give you the rundown on our first encounter with the East Side Hawks.

It was a nice change of pace from the previous week against the Furies, but we still managed to clock up a shitload of pages, thanks largely to TubeRadio on Friday night, which seems to be a big hit with our opponents.

It was quite a steady match thread without too much angst, and I was quite excited to lock horns with my old mate The Jesus and crowd favourite por_please_ya, but much to my disappointment they weren’t involved in the match thread nearly as much as I would’ve liked. Sad face.

Leading the charge posting-wise for the Hawks was the mysterious Pomgolian Chipmunk, almost cracking the ton with 98 posts. He was also a big hit in the showers after the match, such a talented young individual...

    E9947520-F8BE-45E1-89F1-797769B9BE91.gif

Loonerty was also quite active as was 200-gamer Golumless, and second game rookie PMBangers and mash chimed in with 65 posts and got involved in the thread, which was encouraging for the Hawks.

Former Bomber legend Shermy also decided to post more in this particular match thread than he has in 3 seasons, but I do sympathise with him that it can be hard to get a word in sometimes with us Bombers and it was good to see the old bloke up and about. Spammy bastard, learn to multi ffs ;)

The Hawks had about 17 posters contribute to the thread which was a pretty solid number, given they were struggling for numbers not that long ago.

All in all not that bad a match thread, but it would be great if the Hawkies could attract some new meat through the doors and freshen up the list a little with some youth.

    Up next, award time.

    SM

This was a tough one to adjudicate, as there weren’t many stalwarty posters in our match thread, so I gave it to SM. He has started S30 off with a bang, with a power of work going into his 30 posters under 30 for S30 thread, or whatever it is. I’ve read some of it. Not behd. Good soize.

    The Jesus

At his best, Harvey can be one of my favourite opposition posters in the league. Unfortunately for him, and the rest of us, he was far from that in the match thread. He may have been preoccupied with podcasts, or something else could be wrong, but he certainly wasn’t himself, which was a shame. Hopefully he can regain that spark that saw him voted in as the best poster in the comp not so long ago.

    PMBangers

One of two new rookies for the Hawks this season, Bangers and Mash had a really solid outing against the Bombers, chiming in with 65 posts and having a crack. Bangers is exactly what the Hawks need more of, new blood.
For the Hawks sake, I hope the young fella stays active, as he offered a POD in the match thread. One to watch.

    Golumless

It takes someone of extreme talent to make me laugh, and make me laugh he did. Golly was in fine form during our encounter, and it was a really solid week of posting from him in the lead-up to his 200th qooty match. Congratulations bud :thumbsu:

And here we are, at the pinnacle of the Hawks posting unit. Ninja was imo their best poster, not in numbers, but in pure quality. He didn’t waste a post, and he was entertaining when he was online. I look forward to locking horns with him again down the track.

So there we have it people, another week of analysis done, and onto the next match thread we go!

Oh boy, where to start with this one.
Well, there was a lot of

    2108CDD9-9A1F-454D-9B7F-70549284B99E.gif

First and foremost, I was quite busy and didn’t have time to jump into the thread until Wednesday evening, by which stage there were already 41 pages of content to sift through.

    CB54171E-9852-485D-ADC0-15ADCAC3C37A.gif

I didn’t fancy a frontal lobotomy so I decided it was best for my mental well-being to skip those pages, and given what was to ensue in the coming days, my decision was completely validated.
So I just hit chill mode, and waited for the thread to slow up a bit.

    1CD42D49-4AD0-475A-89D3-79722DE7E1F1.gif

Well, the next 4 days were really something, with another 126, yes that’s right, 126 pages piled into this mega-thread.

    C6E94974-DDC3-45C6-A916-53B73A96A783.gif

So, rather than delve into the negatives of said abomination, I promised myself I would focus on the positives.

Activity. Lots and lots of activity. And gifs, and I’m an avid gif lover as you all know, but boy, the gifs. So many gifs.

The Dragons sure know how to play a straight bat.

    D0C6C0A3-1A5A-4DBE-AC2F-F40519B871CF.gif

Anyhoo, there were some pockets of brilliance in this match thread, but there were also a lot of posts that should be buried, burned, destroyed, deleted, never to be seen again. Even NaturalDisaster went through and slaughtered 50 something posts of his own, such were the quality of them.

Leading the charge posting-wise for the Dragons were... you know what, I’ll just post a screenshot of the top 10 contributors

Overall, this newest edition of the Dragons seem to be enjoying themselves, but how long can they keep up this breakneck style of mass-posting? Well, that will certainly play out over the coming months.
Even AceAndy himself said he had fun, but couldn’t do that every week, and I certainly don’t blame him, as it was a tiring exercise for old farts like us.

    2199418B-CD96-45C7-9D2C-1504B3899ECE.gif

So, greater SFA community, prepare yourselves for an active thread when you meet the most recent adaptation of the Dragons, and just go with the flow.

    It’s only 6 days, right?

In terms of stalwartiness, you don’t get much better than this guy. Does a power of work for the league with statistics, and this award was basically created for him. A stalwart of stalwarts

    serial_thrilla

Now, I wouldn’t say he’s fallen completely off the perch, but the reigning EKA winner from S29 contributed his fair share of canned meat in our most recent encounter. Mass-posting is most certainly not in his wheelhouse, and he could’ve had just as much impact with 100 posts, rather than 300+. The heir apparent to the throne of Dragon Island is only in his sophomore season, and I’m sure he and his new hatchlings will most certainly settle down and find their sweet spot in the coming months.

Now, this award was basically a tie with another Dragon rookie, but he’ll get a mention in just a few short moments.

Another Dragons rookie, Vando is quite a smooth operator, and has a great mix of wit and humour in his armoury.
Made me LOL on more than one occasion, and is certain to be a feature in the league moving forward.
Is most certainly a top 5 poster on Dragon Island, and will only get better.

Put simply, this bloke is a cut above the rest. That is not to paint the picture that other Dragons aren’t good posters, more to the point that he didn’t mind mixing wit with some extremely mild and subtle antagonism, and more importantly took it in the spirit to which it was intended. Another poster who I hope stays active, as he definitely offers a major point of difference to a match thread.

This match thread was a nice change of pace after the abomination the previous week.

Ignoring outside noise as I do, the Warriors were quite active with 15 posters participating throughout the week, and personally I didn’t find many of their posts super-cringeworthy as opposed to Rd 3, where I was in a perpetual state of cringe.

Leading the charge for the Wazzas was NaturalDisaster , who has embraced his inner Warrior, as depicted here in his most recent interview:

    EC15F031-1279-4124-9956-B48A4CA658E0.gif

with a solid knock of 163 n.o , whilst harry000 and the people’s S29 EKA winner Tonga Bob combined for 287 posts of sheer brilliance between them.

S29 #beez winner TheInjuryFactory and league legend Doctor Colossus posted 76 and 70 times respectively, and there was barely a post wasted between the two.

In a fairly mellow type of match thread, the Bombers #tuberadio Friday night music theme seems to have really taken off! Although it did start a little early on Friday and we partied well into the hours of Saturday evening, much to captain WaynesWorld19 ’s disgust.

    4182DA15-A679-4D9E-9EF5-9CDEA7D82A54.gif

All in all it was a really enjoyable match thread and I’ve made it no secret that I quite enjoy the company of our dear friends from Coney Island. I don’t think their list is overly lacking in any one area, but a couple of active rookies or another elite poster wouldn’t go astray, just to freshen up the list a little.

Cheers again for a fun week lads 👍🏻

You don’t get much more stalwarty than DoctorPantsRedacted. An award truly befitting of a league legend and a pretty solid 70 posts from him. As I said earlier, the match thread was richer from his contributions, and he has an extremely unique style of posting.

    Tonga Bob

One could argue that Bob was robbed of the EKA last season, well, nah * it, I think Bob was robbed of the EKA last season. That is no slight on the winner either, as they both did some fantastic work in their rookie season, but there’s something really sexy about Bob. I think it’s because he laughs at all my jokes, even when they aren’t funny. A true mate.

Now, it’s not that he’s fallen completely off the perch, but early on in the match thread he wasn’t his calm, collected self that we’ve all grown to love. Whether it’s the upcoming admin campaign, or something else entirely, I cannot be certain, but something was a bit off with the loveable lummox. Hopefully it was just a blip and he gets back to enjoying himself soon.

A bit hard to go past the S29 #beez winner here, as Tiffy is just a class act. Loves a shoop, and as I’ve said to him before, I never thought I’d enjoy seeing Rossy Lyon’s head pop up on BF as much as I do now. Will most certainly be at the pointy end of the #beez again this season, with Blankety Blanks and 3 Things I Learnt attracting some good foot traffic.

  • Round 5
West Coast Wonders Vs Baghdad Bombers at The Colosseum

After a tumultuous week where Baghdad lost its skipper in the most unusual and unexpected of circumstances, we were fortunate enough to come up against the rebuilding Wonders outfit led by captain Sab22.

In what was a relatively low-key match thread, partly due to the situation that arose mid-week, and that the Wonders aren’t as active as they were in previous seasons due to the mass exodus of experienced posters at the end of S29, it was nice just to sit back and chill a bit.

Leading all comers for the Wonders was club legend ClarkeM , who was a big hit in the early part of the week with his Q&A. Grand Uncle Horace also participated strongly in the thread throughout the week, as did SweetD. Rookie Elmer_Judd and sophomore jezzajay were also a good point of difference for this new look Wonders outfit, and hopefully they can both build on these performances and become valuable contributors to the league in the future. SSwans2011 also chimed in with a big century of posting, and new recruits AngryRanga (returning) and Jack The Godfather (Gumbies) also pitched in with the odd post here and there.

They had 13 active posters participate in the thread, which is a decent number for the restructuring Wonders, and the only way is up for this young group.

Please bear in mind when coming up against the S30 adaptation of the West Coast Wonders that they are going through a rather hefty rebuild, so some patience will be needed as their captain and LG find their feet and gel with an entirely new structure.

Moving forward I think they’ll need to target at least two experienced heads to add to their list, and if I were Sab22 I would be scouring club lists for those recruits to build for the future. Two names that pop straight into my head are The Jesus and NaturalDisaster ,as I believe posters of that style would be exactly what this club needs as it embarks on this long journey.

A couple more active rookies to freshen up the joint wouldn’t go astray either, and a little more of a contribution from guys that I personally rate like Bonz and Cactus_ will certainly go a long way to getting their club back into a good, active place.

Thanks for the week lads, and all the best for the future.

Given the stage of the Wonders rebuild, they don’t exactly have someone that fits into The Fallen Hero category, so I’ve decided to name two of their newer posters in lieu of that.

Entering his second season, jezzajay is someone to watch out for. He is a great POD for this Wonders squad, as he brings a good mix of banter including: humour, antagonism and qooty. Don’t be afraid to tag him when you play the Wonders, you won’t be disappointed, I assure you.

Moving on, we come to the sole Wonders rookie, Elmer_Judd
An enigma of sorts, EJ pops up without tagging or quoting anyone, flings a bit of s**t, and *s off again. Another who I believe has a really strong future at the club, provided the Wonders can keep him engaged and interested.

The artist formerly known as Bloodied52, is another unique poster on the Wonders list. Certainly not one to mince his words, and I assure you people, this guy has all of them, he has trimmed his word count per post down considerably, and is now only posting about 1000 words pp. I quite enjoy his humour, but unfortunately it’s lost on people that don’t take the time to read his dissertations.

Ahhh, it’s always an enjoyable week against one of my favourite opposition clubs, the Rats.

I found it to be an extremely entertaining and active match thread which covered a multitude of topics, with veganism and its many nutritional benefits at the forefront for a lot of the week.

The Rats were well-led by skipper philreich (119 posts) expansion enthusiast SarahSmiles (116 posts) and musical magician Nunez (70 posts)
The Rats have a wide variety of eclectic personalities and had an even spread of contributors over the course of the week including Firestarter (58 posts) Sparkle (54) jackster83 (52) ant555 (47) and former Wonder Ant Bear also chimed in 42 times.

Their list overall is in pretty good shape, with 18 Rats contributing to the match thread in some form, but I think what they could really benefit from is a few fresh faced rookies and a really strong media performer to push their brand across the land of Sweet.

All in all I think you’ll enjoy posting against the S30 adaptation of the Sin City Swamprats, but remember, if they bite you, it will hurt.

An absolute icon of the league, ant555 holds a special place in the hearts of the Bomber brethren, and he wasn’t at all displeased when we told him we drew dicks on some of his portraits at Abdu. A Rat now, but a Bomber forever, he is an immortal of Baghdad, and we wouldn’t be the camel riding, goat herding bunch of extremists that we are today without his contributions.

    GremioPower

Entering his sophomore season, Gremio has regressed a little in activity, but is still a valuable contributor around the board. Has done a power of work with whatever rookie circle jerk is happening this season, and has had a lot of buy in by all reports, which is testament to all the hard work he has done with other sophomores this season.

Now, this is not a slight on the man at all, but the adminship has certainly weighed heavily on AB’s shoulders,
and I for one am looking forward to seeing the shackles released once he hands the reigns over to whichever poor sod lucky candidate is fortunate enough to win the upcoming admin campaign.

This award was basically created with the leagues resident comedian in mind.
Never short of a joke or yarn, Phil genuinely makes me laugh and the Rats skipper has had large shoes to fill in (pun intended) Far Kern’s absence, and fill them (pun intended) he has.
One of the leagues good guys, Phil is doing a great job in Sin City, and I see great things for his club moving forward.

    SarahSmiles

For a period of time, Far Kern had me believing that Sarah was actually a girl, and our first few encounters were not exactly pleasant. SS even labelled me a “try hard” at one point, a title which I wore with honour. Fast forward a few more interactions and it became plain to see that she wasn’t a girl, but a lad, and a poster who I’ve come to enjoy over the journey. Loves to rile the boomers and is actually becoming quite good at it, SS is a big part of the future at Sin City, provided no more expansion bids pop up ;)

So there we have it friends, another round of analysis and ratings done and dusted.

Up next, we have the retirement village of the SweetFA, the Roys

  • Round 7
    Baghdad Bombers Vs Roys FFC
    at Abdu Prison

For a club that is widely known as the retirement village of the SweetFA, these gorillas sure were up and about in our most recent encounter.
The Roys have recruited brilliantly and added 3 rookies and a league stalwart to their ranks, and boy has it made a difference to their match threads.

Leading the way for the Roys was rookie enforcer and lover of all things whiskey-related, BLUEALLTHRU
Batty managed to chalk up 226 posts and was a general delight to post against. He even asked me to teach him how to multi-quote so it shows he is keen to improve, but it was a really solid outing for him. Another rookie whose star shone bright in the match thread was the real RobR , not that imposter from the Hawks board that made off with my pizza pics. Rob managed a solid 132 posts and seemed to enjoy this new-look, Wayneless Bombers outfit. Apparently it’s my shout as well, whatever that means.
After the failed expansion bid, Dingster decided it was time to make his way over to the old farts home, but that didn’t slow him down in our match thread, as he managed to punch out 108 posts of pure Dingster goodness.
Another Roys rookie who caught my eye was Supersuns
Not only was I surprised that there was a second Gold Coast supporter on the forum other than MITS , but I was equally shocked that the Roys went 3/3 with their recruitment of rookies this season. Some bloke named Mobbs posted 40 times whilst JackNah_8 chimed in with 29, non tennis-related posts of her own. Solid Thiemwork.
Supersuns managed a really gutsy (pun intended) ton of 103 and was a valuable contributor to the match thread.
The Roys has 17 posters participate throughout the week and with the injection of aforementioned recruits the future is certainly looking bright for the Gorillas from The BJO.

As per usual an enjoyable match thread was had by most, but obviously we cannot keep everyone happy. That would be unrealistic.
    00EE4B4D-A2E3-4CA1-9EF9-B1EBBD1BEEF6.gif
List wise the Roys are in a decent position, but could probably do with a shakeup at the top and a stronger media presence around the traps, but all in all they’re in good hands.

    Mobbs

If there had to be a leader of the stalwarts, it would be this guy. The lord and creator of the sim, his stalwartiness in the league is unparalleled, and without him the SweetFA would not be.
A quirky individual with a unique posting style, he is one of my personal favourites when he is up and about.

    RobR

The Roys have been extremely lucky with their rookie recruitment efforts this season, as they’ve managed to snaffle 3 potential stars of the future, and one of those stars is the real RobR.
He appeared to have a ball against the Bombers and was a general delight across the course of the week.

    2ABAFBE2-5386-46E2-97CA-C88124D045DA.jpeg

    Supersuns

Now, as you all might know I’m a big fan of a dodgy photoshop and some eclectic humour, and this young upstart has that in spades. It’s great to see the Roys embracing minorities like Suns supporters, and Supersuns has the promise of being perhaps the second best Gold Coast supporter in the league.

    fitzroybowiedog

When I think of the Roys FFC, I think of FBD. He was a long-serving captain of the club before handing the reigns over to TedDougChris at the beginning of S28, and some might say he should’ve won a #beez in that time when he was at the peak of his powers. He himself had said that he is struggling to find the “spark” that had him spoken about as one of the best posters in the league. Sits firmly in the top 10 of all-time #beez votes and the league is a much more enjoyable place when he is up and about. Fingers crossed he can get back to his best as it is a sight to behold, much like his CatDog stories.

    BLUEALLTHRU

The third of the Roys rookies has earned himself the funniest bastard title for this week. A future leader of the club, his uncompromising posting style and unique sense of humour will see him reach great heights in the league, provided he and his rookie compatriots can stay engaged for long enough. Got ditched at the pub and had his wallet stolen by the Bombers, but he just kept partying which is a testament to his strength of character.

    Dingster

When the Roys needed a leader this man stood up, hoisted his teammates on his back, and said “not there guys it tickles”
After the failed *insert expansion club name here bid, he packed his bags and left the Wonders, making his way to the BJO to get his gorilla on. Ding has been around the traps since the very early stages of competition and is a much loved piece of the furniture. Another one of my personal favourites, he has added a helluva lot of class to this posting unit, which in turn has made the Roys infinitely better IMO.

So there we have it lads and ladies, another hefty week of analysis done.

Next up we have one of my favourite teams to post against, the frosty demons from Mount Buller.

  • Round 8
Mount Buller Demons Vs Baghdad Bombers at The Snow Dome.

Round 8 saw us make the trek up to the icy pinnacle of Sweet, Mount Buller.
It was a much quieter affair than what I’d anticipated, but the Demons were still well represented, with 19 posters making a contribution of some sort during the week.

Leading the way for the Demons was 4th season poster Callums_Guns with a really solid knock of 132 not out. He was very engaging and seems to be the quintessential team player, always being sure to tag his team mates into the thread, which is a rare quality imo.

Another Bomber favourite moginie chimed in with a rather impressive hit out scoring 107, and he rarely wasted a post. Really seems to enjoy posting against the Bombers as well, so either he’s a sucker for punishment or just a really top bloke with an impeccable judge of character.

Captain courageous manangatang had 92 posts of his own, and he was closely followed by the Woooooo machine cooney , who managed a really good knock of 82 before Callum’s Guns called a quick single and left him stranded.

Bomber favourite and resident Sweet fisherman Yakker posted 68 times, although half a dozen of them were just asking CG what he was on about, but otherwise was a general delight. sausageroll had decent cameo knock of 34, and Dero managed a tidy little 24 after crossing over from the binary-ridden, plasticine Gumbots at the end of last season.
Tarkyn_24 , DemonJim combined for 38 between them, which really helped the struggling home side score a few runs, but Proper Gander only managed 13 posts, and the match thread was certainly poorer for her lack of activity.

Headless stuck true to his username and graced us with his presence twice, but given he has an admin race to run, one can see why he may have been otherwise engaged. Again, match thread was poorer for it.

When they are up and running, the Mount Buller Demons have one of the strongest posting units in the league, but this week they were in a bit of a lull, which is totally understandable.

Their list is quite healthy, they have a good media presence around the league, a strong voice in the committee, but some fresh blood would certainly liven the place up a bit.
Whether that be finding some existing posters or a couple of enthusiastic rookies to bolster their ranks, I don’t know, but I’m sure manangatang will have his charges up and about in no time.

    Up next, the all-important ratings.

    Tarkyn_24

More affectionately known as ‘Tarks’, the leagues all-time leading goal kicker is just about as stalwarty as you can get. I mean, just look at him, very stalwarty if you ask me. A general delight to converse with and one of the ‘good guys’ of the Sweet FA.

    moginie

Entering his 3rd season in the league is this fine gentleman, and it seems he is one of the growing fan boys of this new breed at Baghdad. Always saves his best for the Bombers and manages to engage friend and foe alike in a unique way, loves a brew, and loves the tunes. A bright future awaits mog, who is most certainly a future leader of the Demons

    The Fallen Hero

    Headless

When he’s up and about, the human neck hole is just about the best poster on the Demons list. Finished top 20 in the #beez last season and deservedly so, as he was rather active in both match threads and media in S29, and his posting, although not to everyone’s liking, was first-class and he had a very unique brand of humour, in a similar vein to Proper Gander.
Fast-forward to S30, and ‘Less seems to be burdened by something. He isn’t posting as freely, he doesn’t seem to be enjoying himself as much, and I believe there is something amiss at the Snow Dome. Here’s hoping that he can regain some form in the coming months, as he is quite a funny character when he’s fit and firing.

    Yakker

Easily the funniest prick on their list, Yak has a brand of humour that is sure to please the masses, but he can scrap if the situation calls for it. Not backward in coming forward, he is just another character on a list which is chock-full of individual talent, and is also the right-hand man of Captain Courageous, who you’ll all see shortly.

When you are talking quality, it’s pretty difficult to look much further than mang. Consistently a top 10 poster in the league and one of my personal favourites, the #beez winner from S28 doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
    A true captain.

So there it is, good citizens of sweet, another extensive round of match thread analysis and ratings done.

Up next, the Las Vegas Bears

Round 9 Vs Las Vegas Bears
  • Round 9
Baghdad Bombers Vs Las Vegas Bears
    At Abdu Prison

The teddy bears from Las Vegas made the trip to the desolate wasteland of sand and rubble that is Abdu Prison this round, and boy was it a thread to remember.

If you’ll cast your eye back to our S29 encounter the Bears made a single solitary post for the entirety of the match thread, the team sheet. The artist formerly known as AuntyBlindEye posted 3 times after the match had been simmed, such was the strength of this young mans character.

So for you people at home that are struggling with the maths here, that was 4 posts. Yep, you heard it right, ******* FOUR POSTS! The blatant boycotting of the match thread was due to some history which was well documented and I shall not dredge up the past due to its sensitive nature.

Fast-forward to S30, round 10 and we really didn’t know what to expect. I knew that good friend and Bomber sympathiser Metalcrusher wouldn’t stand for any SHINNINNIGANS, and he lead from the front for his club only falling two posts short of a triple century.
The artist formerly known as Cap, Western Stand Warrior managed to quietly grind out 148, and 2/3 of the 3 amigos in Muddiemoose and guero managed 230 posts between them.
    472C833E-D278-4F70-B0B2-36072222FE03.jpeg
Although technically BLUEALLTHRU is a Roy he managed to contribute nearly 4 pages of his own content to our match thread, and we welcomed him to trivia night and #tuberadio with open arms. We also wait until he is smashed (doesn’t take long) and we pinch his wallet and tell him a goat ate it.

    Gets him every time.

Expansion enthusiast Millky95 managed a solid 71, whilst Bears enforcer MWPP churned out a respectable knock of 49.

She also did laundry on Sunday.

Due to the fact that we Bombers welcome outsiders into our match threads to post freely saw former-Bear turned-Gumbie Genghis Tron post 48 times as well. That was 45 more times than he posted last season during the #JoshWoodenSpoongate fiasco of S29. His posts were mostly of an eclectic musical nature and although he is a plasticine foot soldier now, in my heart he will always be a Las Vegas Bear.

    210CA95D-26C5-4D17-9D05-7772F9AFA85F.jpeg
Boom recruit U2tigers managed 41 posts and then disappeared, but we may have given Bono a little extra attention though so his absence was expected.
Roys recruit I Dont Care clearly does care, as he posted 33 times, and the 3rd member of the 3 amigos tony managed 31 of his own. One of those posts was a fantastic little gif that will probably see him get yet another POTY nomination for round 9, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
    85CC2353-7741-4284-A178-3ADD1D7C7850.jpeg

AceAndy the perennial gatecrasher managed to hit post reply 18 times in our thread, and is easily one of the biggest Bomber fanboys in the league.

In his defence we probably tagged him about 30 times.

RookiePick managed 14 posts in his 150th qooty match and aspiring Mobbs medalist Matera92 was bowled out for 13.

Art Vandelay_ and xenxen managed 13 posts between them and there were a couple others that posted once.

A notable absentee was captain Test Tickle, and at first we thought he was boycotting again but we later learned that he just doesn’t like us.

The match thread itself was filled with a lot of angst and vitriol, a heap of music, a veritable metric tonne of sh*t flinging, but hopefully it was taken in the right spirit and a good time was had by all.

    Except Bono, he got mad.

The Bears had a solid 15+ posters engage in the thread which is a pretty good number considering the mid-season lull, and I’m sure their captain will be back soon as the league is a better place with him around.

If the Bears can manage to hold onto Crushy (he is their future captain imo) and the 3 amigos then the list is in fantastic shape. Lose just two of those four and they will need to do some recruiting. Overall, I really enjoyed the S30 adaptation of the Bears and I hope they all stick together and grind it out.

I’ll have the ratings to you in a short while.

Until then, um, I dunno, go eat some bacon or something.

    Peace ✌🏻

For a man that stumbled into the league by accident, this young rookie sure has made a splash.
After only 9 matches is already one of their best posters, and that’s no slight on the rest of the list at all. This bloke is just that good. Will certainly feature in the EKA voting come seasons end.

    guero

Another rookie from the Las Vegas Bears, Mr Guero has captivated hearts all across the land of Sweet.
Has an incredible eye for rocks (we are up to 16) and loves a hit of golf, even if he is putting from the rough most of the time. Another who will feature in the EKA at the conclusion of the season, guero is but one important cog that will see the Bears rise in the future.

    U2tigers

It pains me to say this, but I think Bono did his best work at the Wonders and should probably consider a move back there to find his spark. A generally likeable persona, U2 seemed to lack something in his latest outing against the Bombers.
I certainly hope he can get back to his best in the coming months, as a fit and firing Bono is good for the league.
He’s also gotten a bit portly, as his selfie above clearly identifies.

    Muddiemoose

Before the commencement of S30, the Bombers courted the Moose rather vigorously to try and gain his signature.
It was rutting season at the time, so he was fairly amorous in our team PM, and basically everyone had a turn.
This guy is seriously funny and was an absolute delight to post against, which puts him in the top 5 rookies this season IMO.
Hopefully he can stay engaged as he will be an asset to the league for many seasons to come.
Please don’t confuse him with a deer, or else the last thing you see before you depart this green earth is a set of antlers and an angry moose with a boner.

    Metalcrusher

In such a short period of time the man affectionately known as “Crushy” has certainly staked his claim as a future captain of the Las Vegas Bears.
Will do absolutely anything for his teammates, and leads by example.
Loves a virtual punch on and having a laugh, Mr Crusher has an important decision ahead of him in the coming months.
Does he stick it out at the Bears, a club that needs an enforcer and someone who will go into battle for them, sometimes singlehandedly?

    Or

Does he come back to the might of the Baghdad Bombers posting unit, and let the vicious cycle continue?

Some interesting times ahead for the Las Vegas Bears.

Round 10 saw us make the trip to the house of plasticine horrors, The House Of Gumby, to take on Barrybran and his band of stretchy men (and woman)

It was a far-cry from previous binary-riddled encounters in the sense that they actually responded with words... that was until Barry decided he would take the Millky95 route and only respond with gifs and memes for an entire week, which wasn’t totally abhorrent but unexpected nonetheless.

Leading the charge for the resurgent Gumbies was former Bomber Riviat , who managed to hit the ton with ease.

He also wore that little blue number I got him as a parting gift, which I must admit threw a few of the Bombers off their game.

    5FC70CA6-4FE2-49C3-A621-CECFD11DF5BB.jpeg

Cheeky little cat that he is.

Former Bear turned Gumby Genghis Tron got his eclectic groove on and managed a respectable 85 posts, whilst sophomore GWS Goose flew the flag admirably for the plastic prophylactics, chiming in with 83 of his own before drinking too much BentSpoke and spewing everywhere.

    BE72759F-706A-43EB-9FF7-09C12FB7FF29.gif

Gumbies enforcer Taylor managed to score a solid 61 not out, followed closely by captain Barrybran who was bowled out for 48 posts, most of them without text.

Bomber fanboy BoomerAndy also played a role for the Gumboots, adding two pages of his own ranty, boomer-fueled rhetoric before shitting his nappy and falling asleep, and FF maestro Rodney Dangerfield had a really good knock of 39.

League stalwart and Bomber turncoat beez scored a quick-fire 30 before being caught on the boundary, whilst rookie sensation omgfridge and the largely unknown Brick Loosener combined for 43 to keep the home side in it .

Gumbies legend StFly posted 15 times, and he was supported by NSWCROW , Jivlain , cats2rise , BlueE , Spuddd and a few others who all contributed in the single digits.

The match thread was pretty chill overall, nothing too angsty, but the real achievement for the week was that the Gumbies had 19, that’s right, NINETEEN posters contribute in some form to the thread.

That is a massive number for the once struggling Gumbies, and if they could manage to get Ned Ryerson and TalkingFootyNow1223 involved again in some capacity their list is looking in top shape.

Kudos to Barry for sticking it out and rebuilding this list when most others would’ve sat in a corner, sobbing uncontrollably.

Pretty hard to look past this poster when you are talking about Gumbies stalwarts. Has been around the joint for longer than most and is a former captain of the club. A unique individual who is never short of words, his posts are always well executed and he is one of my personal favourites.

I saw enough from fridge to suggest he will be a decent contributor to the league, provided he can stay active and engaged. He has a humorous side and likes to be filled with copious amounts of beer, just like any good fridge should.

    Riviat

Pretty hard to classify Riv as an up and comer, but I believe he’s really come into his own as a Gumby. Seems to be enjoying his time at The House of Gumby but he once posted a picture of kiwi fruit on a pizza in a Bombers PM, so him leaving the club was merely a formality.

He has been a fantastic pick-up for the rebuilding Gumbies, and hopefully he will stay there and stick it out for the long haul. Take the time to engage him in your next match thread with the Gumbies, as he’ll either make you laugh or make you cry.

  • Round 11
Baghdad Bombers Vs Coney Island Warriors
    at Abdu Prison

Round 11 saw the Warriors of Coney Island make their way to the fortress of Sweet, Abdu Prison.
The mid-season lull was in full effect as the previous encounter between the two clubs in round 4 saw 81 pages of goodness, whereas the round 11 rematch was nearly half that with only 48 pages added.

The Warriors were well down on active posters with only 10 contributors across the week, and NaturalDisaster was the only Wazza to crack the ton with an admirable 102.

The people’s S29 EKA winner, Tonga Bob , managed a solid 88 posts whilst holidaying within the 5km radius, and harry000 posted 52 times.

TheInjuryFactory stormed home in the latter half of the week to register 48 posts, and Doctor Colossus smashed a quick-fire 33 before retreating to Death Mountain to deal with a malpractice suit.

Residents stats keeper FootyGuy13 posted 22 times and absolutely obliterated all comers in the trivia night, whilst zackah posted some things from a beach in Port Douglas.

Dinsdale and RelaxMax combined for 11 and TubbsFarquhar finished on 4 N/O.

An extremely chilled week was had but that didn’t stop the Bomber legend iDon booting 9.5 in his 450th match to singlehandedly sink the Warriors on our home sand.

Up next we’ll have some ratings.

    Round 12 Vs Fighting Furies
  • Round 12
    Fighting Furies Vs Baghdad Bombers
    At rfctigerarmy’s Hippodrome

Round 12 saw the mighty Bombers travel to the Hippodrome in the return matchup against the neck-punching, goon-swilling, std-riddled Furies outfit in what was sure to be a fiery encounter.

Well, although it was a fun week it failed to reach the angsty heights of our earlier match against them, as there were a few notable absentees, but we’ll get to that in a moment.

Right, the Furies, let’s talk about who posted and what they contributed to the weeks festivities.

It was the new breed of Furie flogs that did the heavy lifting, and they were well-led by sophomore bone2468 Bastyy who punched out an impressive 140, young rookie upstart Mister M who posted 85 times and got into the spirit of the thread, and Quivs alt JackBero who smashed an impressive quick-fire 82 before being annihilated on game day by the remorseless sim.

TJASTA managed a very respectable 80 posts with most of them being his familiar catch-cry of fu** up, or a range of pleasant dinosaur sounds, and the 245kg love muscle Tigerturbulance posted 63 times and is currently enrolled in BlueVein’s school of tagging and multi-quoting.

Rioli8217 managed to thpeak to me in riddleth and there wath a few mike tython memeth flying about, former Bomber Norma Lee Ava notched up 50 posts of pure delight, and my multi-quoting compatriot The Half Back had a solid outing of 47 before losing interest and doing something else.

In sticking true to our morals and values, we welcomed opposition posters into the thread for alternative entertainment, with PMBangers , Chipmunk , BLUEALLTHRU , Metalcrusher and NaturalDisaster combining for 150 neutral posts of pure, unadulterated goodness.

Wheat germ drinker and goon aficionado Ned_Flanders posted 27 times, whilst resident stats lord Hate chipped in for 20 posts in an encouraging performance for the former admin.
Here are a few of them prepping for a big day on the qooty field.

The Fighting Furies had a whopping 18 posters contribute to the thread across the week, mostly due to my superior tagging skills (weird flex campaigner) and their list is in great shape moving forward.

They have a strong media presence with Turbo and his podcasts being a massive hit across the league, plus TJ, a quieter yet still active EJW, and a resurgent Halfy their media stocks are looking blue-chip.

Backed up by a strong voice in committee and some promising rooks in the last few seasons and the Fighting Furies are most certainly on the right track.

    Up next, the all-important ratings.

    RATINGS

    The Stalwart

    Hate

You don’t get much more stalwarty than this bloke. For those of you that don’t know him, Hate is a HoF member and the resident stats boss of the league.

    In a nutshell:

    The Up and Comer

    DD853A24-C177-412A-93F5-6DC8B3BE4920.jpeg

    Bastyy

Sophomore Bastyy, not to be confused with that imposter Bone2468, or is Bastyy the imposter? Ah * it whatever.
Bastyy seems to ‘get’ the league and is really making a splash not only in match threads, but across the league in general. Has a good sense of humour and laughs at my jokes, so he’s alright in my book.

    The Fallen Hero

    AD30BDEF-95F4-4940-A5E3-C299676539A7.gif

    Sterge

When Turbo told me Sterge was making a return I was excited, and in our earlier encounter he lived up to the hype.
He was engaging and he really got into the match thread, but in our most recent encounter, the former EKA winner only managed to get it up once.
One solitary post, much to the chagrin of the Bomber faithful.
Hopefully we didn’t really kill his renewed interest in the league and his wavering appearances are just an anomaly, as a fit Sterge is good for the Fighting Furies, and the league.
It is our duty as citizens of Sweet to ensure we don’t lose him again, so I implore you to tag him into your match threads and get him up and about again, the onus is on us as a collective.
    Don’t forget Sterge.

    The Court Jester

    7EA86ECF-A656-4265-B770-C89A18B4F827.gif

    TJASTA

Love him or hate him, TJ is a unique personality and one that is as unpredictable as any poster in the league.
    Who will show up?
Will it be * up TJ?
    Dinosaur sound TJ?
You can never be sure, but some of the s**t he comes out with is very funny, and that is why he is this weeks Jester.

    The People’s Champion’s People’s Champion

    26C7A427-B09E-4955-B889-8B4E9BBEE1D9.jpeg

    JackBero

Another acquired taste is Jacky, but he is the future of the Fighting Furies, along with a few others.
Already commanding a prime, on-field position and an integral part of the Furies leadership group, JackBero’s star is beginning to shine brightly across the land of Sweet, and he is this week’s People’s Champion.

So there we have it, valued citizens of the Sweet FA, another round of analysis and ratings completed.

Up next we have the East Side Hawks

Baghdad Bombers Vs East Side Hawks
    at Abdu Prison

Round 13 saw the East Side Hawks make the lonely trek to the desolate sand-pit that is Abdu Prison.

In what was a fairly low-key encounter (low-key for a Baghdad match thread, that is) we managed discuss a range of topics.
On top of the agenda was food, music, and I think there was some video game chatter in there as well, not that I paid much attention to it after someone mentioned that they like pineapple on pizza.
    0CFEF02C-A1B8-4D1A-9B57-20515A4148A6.jpeg

    But onto the Hawks.

The Hawks had 17 contributors across the week (5 of them in single digits) which was a pretty good turn out considering the circumstances. Being the great bloke that I am, I’m sure to mass-tag the entire list just to let hem know there is a match thread underway, doing Allah’s work as always.

Leading all comers for the Hawks was young rookie and podcast companion PMBangers. Bangers has absolutely taken to league like a duck to water and he managed a very respectable 115 posts.

eth-dog was next in line with 101 posts, and was also a good contributor to the match thread. He’s been around a little while, and knows how to take a good pounding. He was quite engaging and I think I even laughed at him once, so there’s that.

Captain Agent93 punched out 58 posts after having his arse hairs singed on Turbos hot seat, whilst Chipmunk (who is actually a human being) hit post reply 54 times in between foraging for nuts and also podcasting.
Can also work it like no other.
    0EBFF169-E5E5-4253-BC1A-0027F0E8CB0F.gif

Golumless graced us with his presence 50 times, and rarely wasted a post, and club stalwart Loonerty decided it was time to call it quits on an illustrious league career littered with many personal achievements.

    He also posted 34 times.

Sophomore TY24 posted 25 times and former Bomber Itsmyshow certainly lived up to his name, posting 23 times and booting 8 goals to really sink the boots into his once treasured club.

Hogwarts aficionado por_please_ya managed 21 posts, SM posted 18 times, NinjaSwan apparently woke up at 1pm on one of the days and he also made 17 posts, and former Bomber stalwart Shermy got it up 13 times, which is amazing given his old age.

All in all I think the Hawks are in a decent enough position list wise, but could do with a bigger contribution from former beez winner The Jesus when he’s feeling up to it. The league is a better place when he’s up and about.
Their young blood in Bangers and Chippy are top shelf as well, so let’s hope they can stay engaged for long enough to be apart of the new breed on the East side

All important ratings are up next, stick around to see who made the cut.

    Round 14 Vs Dragons FFC
  • Round 14
    Dragons FFC VS Baghdad Bombers
    At LJP86’s Lair
Round 14 saw the mighty Baghdad Bombers make the trip over to Dragon Island to face off against AceAndy and his band of merry little skinks.

Gone are the days when you’d rock up to a Dragons thread and be faced with 70-100 posts of delete this immediately, HOW DARE YOU, or how rude. No, no the Dragons are a different breed of skink nowadays, they actually have some posters rock up to the match threads, and they’ve done a decent job of getting some active bodies contributing week in, week out.

Although this match thread was 70 pages long it was still about 2k posts shy of our previous encounter earlier in the season.

So, I’ll start from the top contributor and work my down, shall I? Good.

serial_thrilla did not quite manage the 300 posts he punched out in round 3, but he did fall just shy of a double Steve Smith, hitting post reply 190 times. A Swallow posted 106 times, with most of them referencing his RL occupation after some trolling from Santoz and Tony Lynn 15 , which culminated in a short video of himself in what can only be a break-and-enter at someones apartment who works for the Air Force. If you haven’t yet seen it head on over to the Steamer of the Week thread as it is a must-see minute of quality programming.

Chipmunk raised the Steve Smith in our thread, but last I checked he was on the Hawks list, which was bizarre. Just kidding little buddy, you can gatecrash our threads if you like. Next time please make sure it’s less werewolf talk and more lap dances please :thumbsu:

Now, where were we? Oh, the Dragons, of course of course.

Rookie T2B_ was generally a breath of fresh air when he posted, which was 87 times if you were wondering, and Strigoi the Dragon who identifies as a sheep posted 76 times.

Blaze Storm logged on and posted 64 times, which was well down on his double-ton from round 3, and AceAndy posted 45 times before largely abandoning the match thread in his search for the cheapest turnips.

Another Dragon with an identity crisis, VandoHawk , who is an animated mare aaaaaaaaand my dog just ******* spewed up, brb...

    Yuck.

    Anyway, where were we again?

Vando posted 41 times, and he rarely wastes a post.

Alrighty, next in line was a poster who could’ve been mistaken for a vampire, as he was mainly posting after midnight, Stoods
Stoods hit post reply 38 times after being out on the pingers working the late shift, MC Bad Genius posted 36 times in between werewolf, and Ashman OG , or Assman :hearteyes:as Pugsley likes to call him posted 31 times.

Knifey Spoony posted 23 times, and Matt_352 was a touch quieter than his round 3 effort of 400+ posts with 18.

The Dragons had 13 posters post more than 10 times and another 4 post in the single digits, which is a great result for this part of the season.

Their list is active, but could do with a little more of a media presence outside of Thrills and his love of a good spreadsheet/graph.

All in all it was a pretty decent match thread if I’m being honest, and I’ve come to realise that 50-70 pages is about my sweet spot as far as activity goes.

They’ve settled as a group and seem to have gelled as a unit, which is good for the league, as they were in a spot of bother not so long ago.

Anyhoo, ratings time. Be back soon.
