Hawthorn FC worst nightmare the 2017 Draft

No idea, but like every other club in the history of every other draft, a first round pick makes any plans & targets exponentially easier to achieve, to suggest otherwise is pure head in sand stuff.

& considering the state of your list & likely bottom 4 finish this season, to have your first pick in the 2017 draft way out in boondocks could be seen by some as an unmitigated disaster. Not Hawthorne supporters tho, everything is just peachy, 3peat keeping you all warm during those long nights, amiright?
Nope

You need to be careful with comments like that when the season is as close as it is. You still have to beat Geelong and Sydney in Sydney. There is also a strong possibility that you could miss out if you drop those games.

You'd think the football world would've learnt by now, strong possibility of missing finals when AC is the coach? Enjoy another September holiday while our young blokes get invaluable finals experience.

Everyone could see the deal they did with the Saints was a shocker even when they looked like they would be a finals team this year.

It's now looking like one of the worse trades of all time. Saints would be laughing.
This aged well.

You realise that was referring to last year?
“Everyone could see the deal they did was a shocker”.

“It’s now looking one of the worst trades of all time.”

That’s not something that is only relative to the year it was posted.

lol...the post was referring solely to Saints and Hawks draft pick trade

it ended up pick 7 (2017), and 23 & 36 (2016)

for

pick 10 and 68 (2016)

I know it facilitated getting Jaeger, but that trade on its own was a shocker.

Hawthorn got exactly what it needed from that trade period - a brand new midfield duo after Lewis and Sammy left

And here we are in top four.

You’re welcome to look at the numbers at the time - I’ll look at the results

If you ignore the outcome of the trade, sure.
