Opinion VICBias - Genuine Discussion

There is not a complete vic bias. Just a bias to a few of the fatter Victorian clubs.
For instance West coast vs Richmond head to head is 25 games at home for Richmond vs 19 away.
To even this out , The Tigers would have to play the Eagles in Perth for the next six seasons straight without
getting a return game in Melbourne....
its never going to happen.

... and yet over the past 20 years it’s 12 games in Perth & 12 games in Melbourne between the West Coast & Richmond.

So is it just historical #VICBIAS from the 1990’s (which we will all admit existed, but is also a long time ago) OR imaginary #VICBIAS from supporters with a chip on their shoulder who just assumed something?

It’s an interesting point you bring up. The head to head for Richmond and Port is 11 at home and 20 away. Over a shorter period of time as well. What does this tell us about Vic bias? Just as much as your lousy stat. Nothing.

It’s vicco bias

Do you not think we can win against them? We can’t play all the clubs at home. We get FTA national exposure, ( Not thst we need it though) stand alone game. Arguably the biggest game on this years calendar.
Just embrace it and cheer for your team mate.

People let's be honest... of course it's about money!
If it weren't why would clubs be reporting at the end of each season how much profit or loss they'd made.

Probably something to do with it being a legal requirement.

and of those 12 games in Melbourne, 4 were at Docklands, so Richmond didn't even get to play on their home ground!

Damn this Vicbias thing is tricky...

Yeah, imagine having to play a club at the ground they chose to play at, will be fully accustomed to, and traveling off a 5 day break.

Yeah imagine having your home game scheduled on the other side of the country.
Against the current premiers who rarely travel and now avoid the longest road trip for them to play a game at a neutral venue. This after they were gifted 7 MCG (home) games to finish the previous season..

the mental gymnastics needed to describe this as anything but another massive ‘leg up’ for Richmond is next level

but when you’re a pampered team used to vic bias you have the luxury of the imaginary ‘hard done by’ narrative

You're playing your home game at the ground YOU CHOSE TO PLAY AT because your usual ground isn't an option due to the WA government.

This isn't some Vic conspiracy, this is the result of decisions made in WA.

Where else do you suggest your home games are played then until McGowan opens the WA border?

Have you ever wondered how Richmond got 5 of 7 home games at the back end of the season (as two of those games were away games in that list, but let’s ignore that because it doesn’t fit the narrative)

On two separate occasions in 2019 Richmond played 3 games in a row away from the MCG (R3-R5) & (R13-16). Didn’t see Richmond supporters whinging for months on end about that— yet the 7 games at the MCG has been mentioned maybe a million times since August (but also not of much interest when the fixture came out in 2018).

At least our narrative is based on facts. Remind me how many more times West Coast has played Richmond in Victoria compared to Richmond playing West Coast in Perth over the past 2 decades???

Or how many players the Eagles are allowed to take to Queensland??

Maybe you've got no problem with being continually bent over and screwed by the vfl but dont expect everyone to enjoy it mate.

Mate the club doesn’t seem to care so what the hell can we do, Nisbett and the whole club have bent over for 30 plus years to head office, when they start standing up then I will be happy.

So are you saying that your CEO and Board of Directors aren't up to it? If you get screwed over every year they should be doing something about it.

West Coast Eagles...won 442, lost 331, drawn 6, premierships 4.

Tell us more about how badly screwed over you are.

Great example of the FIXture at work, the FIXturers version of fair.

You’re the one trying to convince people Richmond are beinG are hard done by

‘and chose to play at’ is a nice bit of spin
You make it sound like this is our preferred scenario instead of making the best decision based on virus
restraints

not vic bias.. . it’s well known that it was Vic based players who had a big sook and some dead set refused to go into hubs
I would say the AFL pandering to this is the definition of pampered

The H&A concept was relevant in the State League days, its totally irrelevant in a national comp.

I was responding to a Richmond supporter..

do you offen blame other clubs or premiers for your supporters whinging

So you’re focusing on the supporter base rather than the question....

I’ll ask again—- where else should West Coast play home games while the WA border is closed??

and again I understand this..But I was responding to a post complaining about flying up to play an away game at a neutral venue
